Yay! Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop

Hi again!  I just couldn’t resist making two cards for the June Papertry Ink Blog Hop…especially with yummy colours such as these :)  This card as well as the first one I made are Happy Birthday shout outs to the lovely Dawn McVey!  Thanks for stopping by (again!).

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop

happy birthdaymaureenplut

Hello!  Well it’s the June Papertrey Blog Hop which also means it’s my sister Sandra’s birthday AND my favourite PTI designer, Dawn McVey’s birthday  :)  We have loads of inspiration this month, but I decided to zoom in on the lamp in the inspiration photo…

pti hop

White, gold and teal.  It was VERY tricky to photograph the gold flower on my card so I went with natural light…it’s still not perfect, but it shows the shimmery gold foil paper I used :)  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the hop!

The World is More Beautiful

Hey everyone!  I’m off my regular posting time today as I had a much needed inky/therapy session :)  My mojo was ASAP this week, but leave it to the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday video and some new PTI supplies to get it revving again!  Pretty colours, vellum, embossing, stitching, a doily, and that gorgeous butterfly die was all it took to put a smile on my face and heart :)  Thanks so much for stopping by :)  If I haven’t been around your blogs lately, it’s because of the problems with Blogger at the moment only displaying one blog post at a time.  Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon and I can get around to leave some love :)  ox

Welcome to the World

Good morning friends!  Wow, it’s been a little crazy here this week, but I finally was able to make a card yesterday with this week’s Papertrey Ink’s Make It Monday technique!  I’ve got (grand)baby on the brain so it was a no brainer to make a pink and yellow card.  Here are a few photos of the chalking and stamping technique.  First, I used an alphabet embossing folder because the impression plates I have didn’t fit the baby theme.  Then I rubbed pink and yellow chalk over the embossing. Finally, I stamped the daisy outline in grey and the petals in pink and yellow.

Here’s a close up!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great start to your weekend!

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone!  Today’s card is for the latest Festive Friday challenge. I was inspired by the sled in the photo…

I grabbed my Crate Paper Bundled Up pad and some fun miscellany from the same collection then just played around with the layout until I liked it…and until my coffee needed a warm up! LOL  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello Lovely

Good morning friends!  I was in DIRE need of some inky therapy this weekend and so anxious to crack open some of my new PTI goodies that had been sitting on the counter in a sad pile for the last month. It worked!  I’ve cheered myself up with these bright colours and sweet sentiment!  I took inspiration from the current PTI Make it Monday video.  I haven’t made my own ink pad since taking the CAS Online class (see post here) so it was fun to do that again!  Hope you have a lovely day :)

June Rewind and our New Grandbaby!

Good morning friends!  It’s rewind time again!  This card was made for a retiring colleague last year using my favourite Verve Teachers Count set.  I could make cards like this till the cows come home…I love it just as much now as I did last year.

It’s been a little quiet on the blog as the dh and I went to visit our new little granddaughter, Ashlynn, this weekend.  She arrived 2 weeks early and is 7 lbs, 2 oz of pure sweetness!  It’s true what they say about being a grandparent (even a bonus one like me!).  It’s the best!   Your job is to just love without the poopy diapers! LOL Without further ado, let me introduce Ashlynn with Grandpa and Grandmoe :)

I love this one with a very proud Grandpa :)

So that’s what we’ve been up to!  A nice break with all the craziness going on around here :)  We can’t wait to see her again!  Have a wonderful day!

Have a Happy Day!

Good morning!  It’s Saturday, my second most favourite day of the week (remember, Friday is until the summer!), so this card sentiment seems very appropriate :)  There’s a new month of sketches and inspiration starting over on the Viva La Verve sketch blog so head over there for more beautiful samples using the new sketch and colour combination :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Saturday is a happy one too!

Verve June Diva Inspiration Hop

Welcome to Verve's June Diva Inspiration Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time again! So climb aboard Destination: Inspiration for a fun trip through Verveland today. In addition to a comment prize hidden along the hop, we're debuting our June inspiration challenge as well! Play along for another chance to win!

Our June challenge is Winged Whimsy:

Let your creation soar by featuring wings! Think butterflies, birds, feathers or related sentiments. Celebrate the beauty of flight! Whether you draw inspiration from the graphic or fly a solo mission, let's see some winged beauties!

My added inspiration came from a world renowned social and emotional expert, Linda Lantieri. I had used a couple of her articles in my Masters paper then saw her name in our local newspaper advertising her keynote address last week!  I introduced myself and we chatted for a few moments about SEL (social and emotional learning) and what I should include in my paper.  She was directly involved in helping children recover emotionally from 9/11, has written many books and articles on SEL, and is truly the essence of compassion.  She spent time in Calcutta with Mother Teresa so I thought this Kind Words sentiment would be perfect on the card I intend to send her.  I’ve added some extra words from Wings of Love on the side to reflect the three things that are important, “(believe) faith, hope, love,” the greatest being “love.”  If you want to read more about about Linda, here’s a link to her website.

Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we've got a prize for one lucky commenter along the hop! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines, and a little bit about our brand new Diva!

Because It’s Your Birthday ~ May Rewind

Hi friends!  I’m still feverishly working on finishing my Lit Review (almost there!) so I’m continuing my “Rewind” series so fill in some days between new card posts.  I thought this one was from June 1st, but as I checked the date, it was May 31, 2013, so it’s a May Rewind!  LOL. I love it so much, though, I’m sharing it in June! Thanks for visiting!

Thanks ~ Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

Hi everyone! There's a new challenge up over on the Curtain Call Inspiration Blog.  Check out the soothing inspiration photo…so very zen!

We have an awesome new sponsor, Unity Stamp Company!  Unity provided each of the Curtain Call designers with an Itty Bitty stamp set for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Something Simple!  The LEAD of this challenge will receive a gift certificate to Unity Stamp Company!

I was inspired by the gorgeous “white”ness of the photo so went with some neutral and white on white elements.  With such a neutral palette, it’s all about the textures.  Unity Stamps sent me the Hello Pretty stamp set.  I just love the sketch look of the vases and flowers so I went with a watercoloured background.  I just used some SU smoky slate ink and my aqua pen to make a background on watercolour paper, dried it with my heat gun, then stamped the image in Versafine onyx.

Stop by the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Something Simple and play along with us!  Thanks for visiting!
