Year in Review ~ July/August

 july

July #1

Good morning!  The last few years after Christmas I’ve noticed many bloggers post their favourite cards of the year.  I thought that was a great idea and started to go through the 300+ posts to look for my favourites.  Not fun! HA!  So I vowed that each month, I would save the cards I loved in a file so I could do a 2012 Year in Review.  And I did! Whoohoo!  Some months have more than one favourite so I’m only doing 2 months each day. I had several favourite cards this summer as well.  The first one was for a Verve Diva Dare and I created my first “Keep Calm” sentiment with a Verve sentiment and a computer generated sentiment.

July #2

This second one was a true work of heart.  It’s actually a mini book I made for my dear friend, Lynn.  It was a PTI Stamp-a-faire challenge and a great way to relive my fun time Ohio in 2011.  See the full details in the post HERE.

And I couldn’t leave July without sharing my Dad’s birthday card one last time.  It still makes me smile :)

August #1

There was lots of love happening here in August.  This first card was for our friend’s wedding shower…I loved personalizing it with their names :)

August #2

And last, but by no means least, is my Verve Anni-VERVE-sary Challenge card.  I hosted this challenge. It was Verve’s 5th Anniversary so I created a challenge using silver and/or wood, the modern and traditional 5th Anniversary gifts.  The sentiment is one I sent to Julee way back when hoping she would turn it into Vervey goodness and she did!  See Stronger Love HERE!  This card went onto being my sister’s Anniversary card from her husband :)  Whew, this post feels like a year in itself! LOL  See you tomorrow with September and October!

Thanks so Much and a HUGE Sale!

Hi Friends!  I’m sneaking this card in before my Year in Review posts begin  because the new 2013 Viva La Verve sketches start today (Friday).  We’re changing the challenge slightly to include inspiration photos once a month.  Amber is starting us off with a fun medley of turquoise and orange.  I took a bit of liberty with the sketch and chose leaves instead of circles :)  Check out the Viva La Verve forum for all the new deets!

Happy Birthday ~ CASE Study #122

happybirthdaymaureenplut

Hi everyone!  Welcome to another inspiring week over on the CASE Study Blog!  Our super talented December Muse, Windy Robinson, has one last gorgeous card to share with us.  This challenge is another 2 week challenge so you can enjoy your holidays AND play with us at your leisure.  Here’s Windy’s masterpiece…

CASE122dec27

I was inspired by the colours, the layout, the ribbon, the flower and the bling!  Basically everything!  I’m using 2 more newly released stamp sets from Clearly Besotted Stamps.  The polka dots are from Background Builder and the sentiment is from Once Upon a Time.  I added some fun stitching to finish off the edges as I didn’t want to distress them.  I hope you’ll be able to play with us this week!  Take a look at the Design Team’s take on this week’s card over on the CASE Study blog or directly on their blogs…and then join in the fun!

Happy New Year ~ PTI December Blog Hop

happynewyearmaureenplut

Good morning!  It’s Boxing Day here in Canada so I am avoiding the stores and enjoying a peaceful morning with our house guests.  I’m also going to enjoy the Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop later today :)  We are asked to make a mostly white card so I threw down some shimmer paper, dug out a doily and looked through my embossing folders.  I knew I wanted to make a Happy New Year’s card for someone special so added some silver embossing and some sweet silver jingle bells (nope, not done with them quite yet!).  When a card is super shimmery, I turn off one of my light box lights to tame the glare.  However, I thought it’d be fun to see the full shine of this card as the banners are die cut from shimmer pattern paper.

Thanks so much for visiting and hope your Christmas was wonderful.  We survived hosting the 30+ sit down dinner with lots of laughter, noise, great food and wine!  Thanks for popping by and enjoy the rest of the hop!

Joyous Noel

joyousnoelmaureenplut

Hello! Happy Saturday!  I’ve had a few last Christmas cards to make this weekend.  I was making my gift tags and noticed that the colours were very similar to this week’s ColourQ palette minus the blue.

christmastag

So that’s how this card for my son’s girlfriend came to be.  There is some blue plaid in her gift, so I picked some sweet blue plaid from the Echo Park Winter Wishes pad.  Her name is Joyce so I always like to have “Joy” somewhere on her card :)  I’m thinking this is the last card before Christmas. I have a couple of posts on Boxing Day and then I’ll start my Year in Review.  If we don’t talk until then, I wish you all a very Merry and Joyous Noel :)  God bless us, everyone!

Merry Christmas, Baby #1

merrychristmasmaureenplut

Good morning sweet friends!  It’s TGIF double time today as my 2 week vacation starts at 2:25…well, maybe 4:00 as I’ll get my classroom ready for the first day back in January.  It’s Friday and that also means there’s a new Viva La Verve sketch!  It’s the fourth and final sketch which means if you’ve played all month you have the chance to win a $100 Verve Gift Certificate!  What a present that would be!  Head over to the Viva La Verve forum for all the details.  Tosh’s CAS sketch was the perfect inspiration for my son’s Christmas card.  He’s always been my Baby, but when I met the DH, Jake became Baby #1 and the dh became Baby #2 :)  Things around here are getting busy as my son, his girlfriend, my sister from Texas and her family arrive on Sunday.  Have a wonderful Friday!

Vintage Christmas

vintagechristmasmaureenplut

Good morning!  I wanted to make a couple of cards for our librarian and librarian aide.  I knew I wanted to use my library card image, some MME School Daze paper, and some of my new October Afternoon goodies. Oh, and more jingle bells! HA!  The two cards are very similar with only a few colour and embellishment differences.  I’ve used a little bit of reindeer washi tape on the bottom of the flash cards.

Oh, only 2 more days and then we’re off for two weeks!  Pinch me!  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day :)

Reindeer Noses!

reindeernosesmaureenplut

Oh, do I have a sweet little post for you today!  Months ago on Pinterest I saw this totally awesome Christmas treat and knew I had to make them come December.  I then did another search on Pinterest and found this lovely lady who was giving away these sweet toppers for FREE!

reindeernosesmplut

I’ve used Malteasers and a red chocolate ball for the noses.  We have a great Bulk Barn here in town so it’s easy and cheap to get these items in any quantity :)  I’m going back this week to get some more!  On the back of the topper, I added the Reindeer names with a photo editing program.

reindeerlineupmaureenplut

I’ve got these in a fun Christmas basket and will hand them to visitors as a little parting gift :)  Thanks for visiting!  Will be back tomorrow with a couple more cards!
