Make a Wish

makeawish

Good morning blog buddies :)  Well, today is the LAST day of my birthday month ;) If you are a regular, you know how much I {{{heart}}} by birthday.  My sidebar countdown has reset and it’s 351 days until the next one.  So it seems only fitting to make this card a birthday one…lol.  Yes, I did make a wish on the 17th, but if I tell you, it won’t come true ;)  I’ll let you know when it does :)   Today’s card uses this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge…and it was a doozy!!  I really didn’t know what to do with those big banners and wasn’t going to play until I thought I’d just make a triangle and stitch it to the rest of the card, sort of like a patchwork design.  I’m using some more yummy Upcycle paper from Cosmo Cricket…I’m definitely going through this pad quickly :)  Hope you have a lovely day and that the sun is shining where you are :)

I Always Love Hearing From You

hearingfromyou

Good morning!! Well, today’s card was going to be my entry for the WPlus9 Colour Cue challenge, but when I went back to the site to link it to the challenge, I noticed I had read the colours incorrectly!!! YIKES!  Instead of orange, I was supposed to use yellow.  I must’ve had orange on the brain for some reason.  So I’m posting a “just ‘cause”  card.  If anyone has a challenge I could enter this in…please let me know!!  Thanks :)  However, I did get to play  with my new Hero Arts stamp set (enabled by Aimes!) so all is not lost ;)  Have a great hump day :)

Hey Chickie, You’re So Fine…

heychickiemar2011

…you’re so fine you blow my mind, hey Chickie, hey Chickie! Seriously, when I first saw this sentiment in the new Verve Chicks Rule set, I broke out into Melissa Manchester’s old ‘80s hit, “Hey Rickie.”  LOL  Today’s card is one of my favourites from the new Verve Release and was part of the March Release After Party on the Verve Blog.  I think it’s my favourite because of the berry sorbet ribbon and button, new Basicgrey paper and another chipboard frame along with little Chloe and the cool sentiment  :)  Have you checked out the new Release on Sale right now?  There is also a few more days of the Spring Savings Sale as well…head over to the Verve Store to see it all :)  Thanks so much for dropping by :)signature

Postcard to Grandma

grandma

Good morning!!  Well, it’s the first day back after Spring Break…wish me luck! LOL  I was playing around with my new Tim Holtz Postcard stamp set yesterday.  I  just love all the different postcard images from it and thought it would be fun to create a little postcard message for it using some Verve stamps.  The main panel on Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch today was the perfect size for a postcard! I also tried a new shape for my chipboard frame as well as some new Tattered Angels chalkboard spray.  I have some old Hero Arts postage and French script stamps and added those as well :)  I will definitely be making more of these ;)  Hope you have an amazing start to your week.  Thanks for popping by :)  Oh, the new Diva Dare challenge starts today…head over to the Verve Blog for all the deets!!

A Little Bit of You

littlebitofyou

Hey!!  Hello again!  I’m posting a second time quickly as I just stumbled on a new challenge  over on The Shabby Tea Room and it ends today!!  The challenge is to use any 3 embellishments in a row on this bingo card OR use all 9!!!  Well, I couldn’t resist that challenge!!  I made a list last night, put some things down on the desk then went to bed.  I just triple checked and, yep, I have them ALL!!!  I was tempted to use some glitter brads, but I wasn’t sure if all the embellishments had to be separate.  Anyways, I love the blog over there and will definitely be following them :)  Here’s to a newbie!!  Thanks for coming back :)  It’s a beautiful spring morning and I have a bit of time in the studio today before heading back to work tomorrow :)

Happy Birthday to You

happybdaycardpatterns

Good morning!! Well, I’m a little giddy about today’s card :)  After making a big FLOP card, I sat down to play with my latest Wild Card Colour Challenge.  These sweet colours have been staring at me for almost a month!!  Yikes!!  I think they were secretly waiting for this card to be pulled out of my brain :)  Of course, a cool sketch helps too!!  I’m using this week’s Card Patterns sketch.  I wasn’t too sure about all the circles, but once I had some paper out and this die cut doily, I was back in my “happy card making place.”

I knew I had to challenge myself NOT to make leaves with the ripe avocado!! HA!!  I always think “leaves” when I have green in the colour palette, but not today :)  This green paper is from Basicgrey’s new Hello Luscious pack…and luscious it all is!!  I snuck berry sorbet in with the buttons :) I can’t believe poor berry sorbet has only a bit part on the card today…usually it’s my neutral!! LOL  Yay, now I get to pull 4 new colours!!  Have a lovely Sunday…and for more eye candy, head over to the Verve Blog…the Divas are showcasing their favourites of the March Release!!  Then, check out the new March Release and Sale going on!!  Thanks for stopping by today…wish me luck back at it tomorrow :)

Verve New Release Spotlights ~ Day 3

mypeepsmar2011

Good morning, Peeps!!  Are you ready for some MORE sneaky peeks and a chance to win some of the newest Verve?  All the deets are over at the Verve Blog.  Today’s set is my favourite of the release…Chicks Rule…need I say more?  Yes, I do!!  This set is full of super fun sentiments and images that will have you wanting to make cards and surprises for all the PEEPS in your life!!  My first card uses all the different chicks in this set plus the one from yesterday’s Egg-stra Special set.  I wanted to keep all the “ordinary” peeps in black so I could really highlight my “special” peep :D  And because I could NOT put this set down and saw this cutest tote on Splitcoast, I made a fun little purse AND had to go and buy more candy for the shoot ;)  HA!!

holachicamar2011

Because this tote is so fashionable with the zebra print and bling, I matched the candy to complete the “Designer” look!! LOL  And then I ate them!! LOL  This is why I don’t keep candy in the house! Now off you hop…the Divas are bringing out the big guns today in celebration of Release Night tonight!!  WAHOOOOOOO…get your shopping “totes” ready!!  See you tonight at 9 Eastern (that’s 6:00 for us, Marisa!!).  PS  It’s the last day to enter to win my Birthday (Verve) Blog Candy ;)

Verve New Release Spotlights ~ Day 2

bothbasketsmar2011

Good morning Verve Fans!!  Are you ready for something Egg-stra Special?  lol  Today’s yummy project was inspired by these fun colourful Easter baskets.  It is no secret that Julee LOVES Hello Kitty, so when I saw this pail the other day, I knew I HAD to get it and make a fun tag to go with it, using the new Verve set, Egg-stra Special.  Here are the close-ups…

eggstraspecialmar2011

I love this purple ombre ribbon from Michaels…it goes with so many different purples :)  See that little butterfly?  That’s in the set too!!  The Easter eggs have been made using patterned paper and an oval nestabilities.

easterblessingsmar2011

This last tag uses Verve’s Sweet Scallop Tag die and a sentiment and flower image from Egg-stra Special.  DISCLAIMER: Each and every one of these chocolate eggs were harmed during the shooting of these photos…lol {wink}. I do love these treat shoots :)  Enjoy the rest of the hop and remember that there will be daily winners on the Spotlight Hop…winners will be announced at the Release Party this Friday night…yahoooo!!!  All the details are over on the Verve Blog.  Hope you can come and party with us…okay, see you tomorrow…because tomorrow, it’s all about the girlfriends ;)

Good morning, friends!! Well, I had to laugh when I got up yesterday morning…we had a bit of a snow storm!!  The first full day of Spring and we were treated to big, white, fluffy snowflakes!!  It lasted until about noon and then it all melted away…lol.  I didn’t mind so much as I spent most of the day in the studio ;)  Today’s card started out as an entry for the CR84FN colour challenge this week, but this fuchsia worked better than lavender so I went with it!! LOL  Plus I just got my order of new paper in the mail, so I had to break into it :)  I’ve used the Mojo Monday sketch and several different stamps and papers.  It was so fun to create in the daytime with natural light and with lots of time to spare :)  No rushing anywhere :)  I hope you come back tomorrow because it’s Day One of the Verve New Release Spotlights!!  There will be a blog hop spotlighting a new stamp set and plain jane :)  Of course, knowing Julee, there will be a prize of some sort going on so drop by tomorrow or head over to the Verve Blog for all the deets :)  Have a lovely day!!

Edited to Add: Okay, everyone was soooo sweet not to mention that the banners were “hanging” the wrong way!! LOL  Maybe it was windy!! LOL  Or maybe I just had too many rainbows on the brain…anyways, I have corrected the problem!!  I can’t believe it took me looking at my post hours later to realize this!! hehe  I’ve left the original for comparison
weddinglove
Good morning!! Well yesterday was a very productive day in the studio :)  I was able to combine a challenge with a commissioned card.  I have fortunately joined a staff who loves handmade cards and are keeping me busy with requests :)  So this one is for an upcoming wedding in April.  I was given free reign with sentiment and colours.  I’m using this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge with its sweet little banners.  I knew I wanted the word “L-O-V-E” on the banners, but my alphabet stamps were not fancy enough…soooooooo, I cut apart the word LOVE from the Fancy Phrases stamp “with Love.”  Yes, I took apart a beautiful stamp!!  I tried taping over letters and was getting ink everywhere, so I cut it!  I’ve actually done this a few times before and the beauty of clear stamps is that they fit back together so well.  When I go to use “with Love” again, it will be fine :)  And don’t you think those letters are perfect for that banner?  I also used glitter cardstock for the leaves…it looked better than green leaves and a little more festive :)  I hope your first days of Spring are going well…thanks for stopping by and spending a few minutes with me :)  Hugs,

I couldn’t resist making another card for the Moxie Fab World’s Trigger Tuesday challenge…I have these fabulous vintage button cards of my Grandpa’s and one of them matched the blue in this inspiration photo :)  I love how they say “Made in Canada” at the bottom :)  To justify making another card just for fun…I turned it into another one of my Sunshine and Smiles cards…the set of cards I’m making for a friend at work :)  “Justify” in the fact that I have a long “to do” list this week and have to stay on schedule! ;)

butttoncards

I was once again inspired by the colours and buttons of the Trigger photo :)  Okay, no more posts today!!  It’s still bright and sunny out and I’ve just brewed some fresh coffee…one more card to make today and then off to finish organizing my die collection!!  I’m writing out all their names too so I can be more specific in my recipes :)  Thanks for popping in AGAIN! Welcome Spring!!

Come and let us seek together
Springtime lore of daffodils,
Giving to the golden weather
Greeting on the sun-warm hills.

Good afternoon!!  Well, it seems only fitting that I should make this card on the first day of Spring!!  It’s my favourite season…new life and new beginnings!!  I’ve been waiting (im)patiently to use the “spring” word in the PTI  set Wreath for all Seasons.  I’ve been inspired by the colours and buttons in the Moxie Fab World Trigger Tuesday photo…

Spring Centerpieces and Table Decorations - Button Napkin Holder from Country Living

I thought I’d make another button wreath like the one I made for my card in the March CARDS magazine this month :)  I added a splash of green for the banner as I wanted it to stand out…and what colour goes better with Spring than green?  I hope Spring has found you too…if not in your weather, at least in your heart :)  Thanks for visiting!!
