It’s Your Big Day!

celebrate Good morning!  I had to rearrange a few posts this week to fit this challenge in before midnight tonight!  I’m using the colour inspiration from The Play Date Cafe challenge …black, white and a splash of blue.  This lovely Ocean Princess seam binding ribbon is from Memrie Mare over at Etsy.  I love her ribbon, how she packages each bundle AND the sweet little candy or chocolate she adds to each order :)  The ribbon comes scrunched, but sometimes I like it flat.  The only problem?  Our laundry room is on the top floor of the new house (by the bedrooms) and my studio is in the basement.  AND I only need a few minutes of heat. So meet my new ribbon iron!  flatiron

I can’t remember where I saw this, may have been on Kristina Werner’s blog, but this week I looked for a mini flat iron.  Found a Conair one at the grocery store for $20.00 and grabbed it.  Plus it’s red (flashy) and comes with a little heat resistant travel bag.  It worked like a charm ironing this ribbon.  Now, I know I have to be careful so nothing burns, but all I did was slide it through very quickly.  So fun and practical :)  Hope your week is going well.  Only 3.5 more days!  EEK!

Husband and Wife

husbandandwife

Good morning!  Today’s card is very appropriate for my weekend.  See, this husband and wife are on a little mini vacation enjoying some shopping, sunshine and most importantly, each other :)  I had some play time in the studio before we left and the new Play Date colour challenge AND the Moxie Fab World Damask and Brocade challenge were calling to me.  You have to be careful with black and yellow…it can look bumblebee-ish which is fine if you want that look…but I wanted it to look elegant (damask) and funky (polka dots).  Hope that’s how it came out.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you are enjoying some sunshine where you are…if not with the weather, then in your heart :)

Celebrate Mother

celebratemothertpd
Good morning!  Well, I had a fun weekend making Mother’s Day cards and organizing my purged items for our community garage sale this Sunday.   I was intrigued with this week’s colour palette over on The Play Date Cafe then was a little confused with the colours…Dusk, Magenta and Seedling.  Hmm, seems like Magenta is open to interpretation.  According to the Crayola pencil crayons in my classroom, magenta is like fuchsia so I’ve interpreted that to be autumn rose.  I also took Seedling to mean a mustard yellow.  But in the end, I had fun with my card and that’s the most important part…using some more new paper, silky ribbon and another stamp from my new Birthday Tags set.

Thank U

Hello dear friends!  Happy Easter!  Today’s card uses the delicious colour palette over on The Play Date Cafe challenge blog.  Grey, aqua and chartreuse…how yummy is that!?  I knew the grey paper I wanted to use, then threw down the aqua ribbon on top of it…oh, yeah!  I wanted a bold sentiment for the circle shape and some kind of flower embellishment.  I have 2 prima canvas flowers underneath one double crocheted flower…how sweet!  I’m always a little nervous when using text patterned paper…I know one of these days I will have it upside down and not notice until posting it!! LOL  Wishing you all the blessings of Easter today and all year :)  Hugs!

Sugar and Spice

Good morning!  Today’s soft and pretty card is inspired by the colours over The Play Date Cafe this week.  These colours made me think of a baby girl card.  I’m taking my cards into work this week and I must say baby and wedding cards go the quickest!  I’m keeping it short and sweet today, eh?  LOL Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week has started off right!

Whatever our Souls are Made Of (and Purge Hop Winner!)

weddingplaydate
Good morning everyone!  It was quite the show in the studio this weekend.  I have started the painstakingly difficult task of finding a place for everything in all the boxes we moved.  How did I get all this stuff?!  Really, I was not a happy camper yesterday after working for hours putting things away only to see more and more boxes still sitting outside the studio.  I guess I just need to be more patient with myself.  For a little fun break, I decided to play with the ladies over at The Play Date Cafe.  I’ve only played a few times and just loved the colours they have this week.  A colleague has asked for a couple of fun wedding cards next month so I started with this one.  Kind of funky and traditional at the same time.

Happy Birthday

Good morning!  Today’s card was me just playing around with some of my favourite stamps as well as a new to me stamp…the one on the labels 18 die :)  I don’t  think I’ve ever played with the Play Date Cafe colours, but was totally in love with them and the inspiration photos.  Today is a pretty quiet day here…just have to go and start picking out bathroom and kitchen fixtures :)  There’s too much to choose from!!  Hope your week is going well :)
p.s.  oops, I did it again…I thought that first colour was light blue…after checking out the Play Date blog and READING the requirements…I see that they are mint, light yellow and taupe…not light blue, cream and sahara sand…oh, well :)  I still love my card :)  Sorry!!
