Congratulations

shabbybuttons

EEKK!!!  They finally arrived!!  My February PTI order is finally here!!  Don’t ASK about the LONG story of this…I’m trying to forget it and just enjoy a new found love…the Button Boutique stamp set and dies.  What a perfect set for a button-lover!!  Perfect for all those BIG buttons that you don’t know what to do with :)  My colours are inspired by The Shabby Tea Room’s Spring Colour Challenge.  How beautiful are these eggs in the inspiration photo?

sunday 10th

I thought the buttons mimic the idea of eggs and Basicgrey’s Kioshi paper is the perfect match to ground the card.  Well, it’s late morning and I haven’t even done my workout yet or started the house cleaning…better get onto that!!  Then it’s a big stampfest as I get ready for the new Verve Release coming up…Spotlights start on Tuesday :)  Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for all your sweet comments :)

Hello Sunshine!!

vlvapril2

TGIF everyone!!  It’s Friday and you know the drill…it’s Viva La Verve time and Moe is thrilled the weekend is here!!  Woot, woot!!  I have booked the whole weekend in the studio getting ready for the new Verve Release next Friday!!  Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one!!   My sweet fellow Diva, Andrea has created a super fun sketch that I just altered a bit ;)  I didn’t rotate it, I just squished it down to be a horizontal card instead of vertical :)  Certain card sketches speak to me right away and this sketch said, “Modern Homemaker” to me so that’s what paper I pulled out.  I am loving anything gingham lately.  It looks great with everything!!  I hope you can join us in all the fun over on the Viva La Verve thread at SCS :)  And don’t forget to check out the Diva Dare challenge as well…you can win by entering the DARE as well as by commenting on each Diva Dare sample.  Have a fabulous weekend!!

You’re Destined for Greatness, Michelle!!

youredestined

Good morning!!  Today’s card is a special little homage to my dear blog buddy, Michelle Woerner of Stop and Stamp the Roses.  Michelle and I met through Verve Stamps…I was a big fan and she was a longtime Diva :)  She is just the sweetest woman and was (is still!) always encouraging and cheering me on my own card making road.  Michelle has a LONG list of accomplishments and Design Team success.  She recently joined the Spellbinder Design Team and is already wowing us all!!  It’s a little bittersweet for me, though, as we hardly had any time to be Verve Divas together.

MichelleW210

So with Michelle in mind AND the In My Beautiful Balloon Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, I created this fun little card :)  I saw this TUTORIAL a long while ago on Lauren Meader’s blog.  She created these fun little 3D balloons and I wanted to try them out too :)  Here’s more of a side view to show off the dimension.

dimension

The smaller circle balloon was easy to create with my 1 1/4 inch punch, but the larger oval one was a bit tricky at first.  My oval nestabilities were either too small or too big for the balloon.  Then EUREKA!!  I remembered my Verve Embossed Oval die…it’s the perfect shape and size!!!  Some fun glitter clouds and a heartfelt sentiment PLUS a beautiful bow (just like Michelle!!) and this card was done :)  Thanks so much for visiting and Michelle, congrats girlie!!  You really are destined for more wonderful things…I just know it!!  {{HUGS}}

A Card, Die Storage and a Publication

sunshine
Good morning! Today’s post is a little of this and that…some cards as well as some die storage that I worked on during Spring Break.  Up first, though, is a card I made for my colleague at work…if you follow my blog, you’ve seen the other ones in this Sunshine and Smiles series.  Well, this one is one of 4 in a set I also made.  The other ones are quite fancy so I thought I’d make 4 simpler ones for when she just wants to write a quick note.  These were so quick and easy, but I love the elegance of the flowers and pearls.  A few weeks ago, I had “organize dies” on my Spring Break to-do list.  Now my Verve dies have always been organized as Julee has labeled each die and created its own little pocket for easy storage in any container.  However, my PTI dies just come in a plastic bag so I am forever forgetting their “exact name” and just had them all thrown in a basket which was starting to drive my anal side crazy…lol.  Dawn McVey had a great idea on how to store her dies so I followed her instructions HERE to a “T.”  Here are my VERY organized dies now :D
diestorage2
As you can see, each die (except for the really long or big dies) has its own labeled pocket.  My anal side has put each kind of die (fillable frames, tag-it, etc) in its own colour section :)  Below here, I’ve shown 2 sets of dies to prove that each pocket will hold all 3 blossom dies or 4 leaf dies.  AND they are leaning against my beloved Janome sewing machine…it is 2 years old now and I haven’t had ONE problem with it…the best investment EVER!!  (just sayin’!).  It sewed through 35 acetate sheets and heavy cardstock like BUTTAH!!  I was the one that pooped out !! LOL
diestorage
But now I have organized dies and couldn’t be happier :)  Okay, now the last part of this post is just showing the little Easter card I had published last month in CARDS.  The bit of trivia about this card is that it was turned onto its side in the magazine…don’t know if they did that on purpose or if the card stagers didn’t realize it!! LOL…no matter…but you can imagine my little chuckle when I looked at the magazine and saw the change :)

Well, that’s it for me…hope your Wednesday has started well…thanks for visiting and please, if you have a little organization tip for me, leave a comment…my anal side and I thank you in advance!! LOL

Diva Dare ~ Colour Me Spring!!

divadare3april

Good morning greetings!!  It’s my turn to post over on the Verve Blog on Day 6 of the March Diva Dare challenge.  This month the Divas are celebrating Spring by DARING you with colour!! Two of my favourite things!!  This first card is my first attempt at stitching a grid onto patterned paper.  This idea popped into my head when I found these cute little felt Easter stickers at Michaels last month.  I couldn’t resist them!!  They are really well made and too adorable!!  I used the girl bunny and an extra carrot then added a double Flutter By die cut butterfly, a couple of coordinating buttons and some fun ribbon.  If this doesn’t say “colour” I don’t know what does!! LOL  My next card uses richer, more saturated colours.

I wanted so much to make another card using the latest Hope Perches Plain Jane with the SU bird punch.   I typed out 3 “hopes” in a word document and then added the extra “hopes” with the Hope stamp in Richly Blessed.  Head over to the Verve Blog and check out all the deets for this challenge and how YOU could win some new VERVE!!!  I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU!!  teehee…have a wonderful day :)

Good Things are Worth the Wait

goodthings

Good afternoon!!  Well, I’ve been busy in the studio today, catching up on my “to-do” list :)  I went to town with the dies today…having lots of fun layering and playing with papers.  I’m using the colours from this week’s CR84FN Inspiration photo.  I love this sentiment from Verve’s Big Wish set.  It’s very similar to the one the dh and I had for our wedding announcement in the newspaper 4 years ago (The best things in life are worth the wait).  Thanks for stopping by and have a great start to your week :)

Hola Chica!!

vlvaprsketch1

Hola Chicas!!  It’s Friday, it’s a new month and it’s Viva La Verve time!!  There’s also a lot going on over on the Verve Blog including the monthly Inspiration Team Blog Hop, so don’t forget to head over there after my post!!  It’s a new month so Diva Amber is hosting the first week of new April sketches.  There were a lot of panels going on, so I took the easy way out and picked all my patterned paper from the same paper pad so I knew they would go well together :)  I added a few different borders and stitching throughout and gave little Chloe a fancy blinged up flower to wear :)  I’m just loving all the cheeky/chicky sentiments in the Chicks Rule set :)  Well, it’s TGIF and the dh is home so we’re heading to the local House and Home Show tomorrow and then out for martinis and tapas at a new restaurant :)  Hope you have a fun weekend planned too :)  Cheers!
