June Rewind and our New Grandbaby!

teacherslivemaureenplut_thumb[1]

Good morning friends!  It’s rewind time again!  This card was made for a retiring colleague last year using my favourite Verve Teachers Count set.  I could make cards like this till the cows come home…I love it just as much now as I did last year.

It’s been a little quiet on the blog as the dh and I went to visit our new little granddaughter, Ashlynn, this weekend.  She arrived 2 weeks early and is 7 lbs, 2 oz of pure sweetness!  It’s true what they say about being a grandparent (even a bonus one like me!).  It’s the best!   Your job is to just love without the poopy diapers! LOL Without further ado, let me introduce Ashlynn with Grandpa and Grandmoe :)

I love this one with a very proud Grandpa :)

So that’s what we’ve been up to!  A nice break with all the craziness going on around here :)  We can’t wait to see her again!  Have a wonderful day!

Verve June Diva Inspiration Hop

kindwordsmaureenplut

Welcome to Verve's June Diva Inspiration Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time again! So climb aboard Destination: Inspiration for a fun trip through Verveland today. In addition to a comment prize hidden along the hop, we're debuting our June inspiration challenge as well! Play along for another chance to win!

Our June challenge is Winged Whimsy:

Let your creation soar by featuring wings! Think butterflies, birds, feathers or related sentiments. Celebrate the beauty of flight! Whether you draw inspiration from the graphic or fly a solo mission, let's see some winged beauties!

My added inspiration came from a world renowned social and emotional expert, Linda Lantieri. I had used a couple of her articles in my Masters paper then saw her name in our local newspaper advertising her keynote address last week!  I introduced myself and we chatted for a few moments about SEL (social and emotional learning) and what I should include in my paper.  She was directly involved in helping children recover emotionally from 9/11, has written many books and articles on SEL, and is truly the essence of compassion.  She spent time in Calcutta with Mother Teresa so I thought this Kind Words sentiment would be perfect on the card I intend to send her.  I’ve added some extra words from Wings of Love on the side to reflect the three things that are important, “(believe) faith, hope, love,” the greatest being “love.”  If you want to read more about about Linda, here’s a link to her website.

Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we've got a prize for one lucky commenter along the hop! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines, and a little bit about our brand new Diva!

Because It’s Your Birthday ~ May Rewind

itsyourbirthdaymaureenplut

Hi friends!  I’m still feverishly working on finishing my Lit Review (almost there!) so I’m continuing my “Rewind” series so fill in some days between new card posts.  I thought this one was from June 1st, but as I checked the date, it was May 31, 2013, so it’s a May Rewind!  LOL. I love it so much, though, I’m sharing it in June! Thanks for visiting!

Thanks ~ Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

thanskmaureenplut

Hi everyone! There's a new challenge up over on the Curtain Call Inspiration Blog.  Check out the soothing inspiration photo…so very zen!

We have an awesome new sponsor, Unity Stamp Company!  Unity provided each of the Curtain Call designers with an Itty Bitty stamp set for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Something Simple!  The LEAD of this challenge will receive a gift certificate to Unity Stamp Company!

I was inspired by the gorgeous “white”ness of the photo so went with some neutral and white on white elements.  With such a neutral palette, it’s all about the textures.  Unity Stamps sent me the Hello Pretty stamp set.  I just love the sketch look of the vases and flowers so I went with a watercoloured background.  I just used some SU smoky slate ink and my aqua pen to make a background on watercolour paper, dried it with my heat gun, then stamped the image in Versafine onyx.

Stop by the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Something Simple and play along with us!  Thanks for visiting!
