Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! Blog Birthday Party!!

 blessings

Top o’ the morning to you all!!! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!  I thought I would start this post with a little Irish Blessing, ”May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow…and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.”   How do you like my little shamrock?  I made it with a prima flower.  I cut the stem out of the fourth leaf!! I also have a few more St. Pat’s Facts for you…I love these ones!!

Believe it or not, the colour of St. Patrick was not actually green, but blue! In the 19th century, however, green came to be used as a symbol for Ireland.

St Patrick is credited with establishing the Leap Year tradition of women proposing to men. The story states this was because St Bridget complained that women were tired of waiting for marriage proposals. The story also says that Bridget proposed to him, but he refused!

Well, it’s going to be a non stop day of celebration for me…my leprechaun, Scotty, has been playing tricks in my class for the past two weeks and the kids have been so excited to celebrate Green Day :)  Then it’s off to dinner at a local pub that serves green beer :)  AND then I was thinking, hey, it’s not a party without some “CANDY” …so, here’s what’s in the Birthday Blog Candy this year…a little Verve package with two of my favourite Birthday sets AND one of my favourite dies (and matching stamp!).  I do not have them in my hot little hands yet, but they are on their way and then hopefully onto YOU!!

How does that sound?  To qualify for the prize all you have to do is leave a comment telling me about a special birthday you’ve had :)  You don’t have to be a follower, but you do need to leave me your email address if you want to be contacted. I’ll post the winner on March 26th here on the blog.  If I can’t get in touch with you, I’ll pull another name.   Even followers can’t be contacted if they have their email turned off so if you want to win, you either need to leave me your email in the comment section or come back on March 26th…I’ll wait 3 days :)  Yippee!!!  I hope you all have a fabulous, amazing day!!! I’ll leave you with one last card my sister sent me a few years ago…Irish Blessings to you all :)

Belated Birthday Wishes…

St. Pat’s Fact: What's good luck on Saint Patrick's Day?: Finding a four-leaf clover (that's double the good luck it usually is). Wearing green. (School children started this tradition of their own -- they used to pinch classmates who don't wear green on this holiday). Kissing the blarney stone.  AND hugging me on my birthday!! Okay, that’s lucky for me ;) I’ve always thought I was lucky to be born on this day :)

…are something you won’t have to send me if you’ve already mailed my card or are planning on popping by the old blog on my birthday ;)  lol   Today’s card is for a new challenge, CR84FN, I found through Jean Martin’s blog.  I discovered Jean through Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour challenge while she was part of the design team.  I LOVE her vintage/shabby style and the way she rocks Waltzingmouse Stamps as part of their Mischief Makers design team.  She has inspired me to crack open my WMS binder and start using them!!  Labels 10 is a tricky shape, but when used with the Waltzingmouse Labels 10 stamps it becomes divine IMHO.  So this card uses the CR84FN colours this week.  I haven’t made a quilted background for awhile so dug through my blue patterned paper bag to find a few pieces to use.  I usually stamp my sentiments in black, but the SU bordering blue was open beside my black stamp pad and I accidentally stamped in on that!! LOL  I didn’t want to start over, so left it…but I think it works :)  Hope you are having a fabulous day…only 2 more till St. Patrick’s Day…how will you celebrate?  Hope you come by…there may be a little celebration here {wink,wink!}

Get Your Diva On!

St. Pat’s fact: Veneration (honouring him as a saint) of Patrick was apparent in the eighth century AD. At this time Patrick's status of national apostle was made independently of Rome; he was claimed locally as a saint before the practice of canonisation was introduced by the Vatican.

Hey everyone!! It’s the second Monday of the month which means the next Verve Get Your Diva On challenge is up over on the SCS VERVE forum!!  The prize is fabulous… be the next Verve Guest Diva for the next release!  Sah-weet!!  Spring is my favourite season and the theme for this month’s fun challenge from Tosh

Use all neutrals: white, ivory, gray, black, or brown, with a splash of colour to represent the arrival of Spring.

Ah, music to my ears…this was a joy to make…everything around town here is pretty brown and yellow…the snow is slowly melting but we’re left with a lot of those yucky dirty, crunchy snow piles.  But in a month or so, those little green buds will appear everywhere :)  I’ve used a Verve thank you sentiment that was a little gift in one of my recent purchases and the cream circle panel has been stamped with my favourite Verve text background.  Are you ready to get YOUR Diva on?  Check out all the details over on the FORUM and then start creating :)  Have a wonderful Monday!!

Happy Birthday ~ Trigger Tuesday

St. Pat’s Fact: Today, many Catholic places of worship all around the world are named after St. Patrick, including cathedrals in Montreal in Quebec, Canada, New York City , Dublin, and Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia.

Good afternoon!! Well, I’m in the middle of watching the Canadian Men’s Curling playoffs and was glad to have a few hours in the studio before the next game.  This card is for the Tuesday Trigger challenge over on the Moxie Fab World blog.  It’s my first time jumping in to play!! I’ve always admired the challenge photos but never actually played…but how could I not be inspired by this amazing photo?

As you can see, I was totally inspired by the colours and flowers :)  Oh, and the kraft background.  The chair looked vintage/shabby so that’s the look I went for.  Here’s a close up of my flower and ribbon treatment…

I’m also using another button card from Dana who is sharing this image with everyone!!  Thanks again, Dana!!  Do I have birthdays on the mind or what?  LOL  I sold a few birthday cards at work this week so need to refill the stash but I do have birthdays on the brain!! lol  Thanks so much for visiting!!

My Viva La Verve Sketch Debut!!

St. Pat’s Fact: An Irish blessing: “May you always have...
Walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, Laughter to cheer you, those you love near you
And all your heart might desire.”

 vlvmar4birthdayblessing

Yippee!!! Good morning dear friends!!  It’s Friday which, as you now know, means the weekend is here AND there’s a new Viva La Verve challenge over on the forum!! BUT…this week yours truly is the sketch hostess!!!  My first official sketch :)  Look how fabulous Julee made it look!!  She even had a shamrock for me :)  Then look at what she had to work with…lol, my classy high tech sketch…VLVMar11Week3Sketch IMG_2772

So there was no holding back this week…I went for LOUD, BOLD AND PROUD!!  I say CLASH this week!! LOL  It’s all good for St. Patrick’s Day.  I hope you can come over and join in the fun!!  Oh, see this fun little sentiment?

closeupshamrock

It’s from the Verve set, Blessings, that is on sale right now for 30% off!!  I just love that Julee always has something on sale…and there’s more on sale too…check it all out here :)  EEEKKK!!! Could it get any more fun than this?  Some of you have told me/admitted that you don’t have any shamrock images…well, you can make your own like me!!  I die cut 3  hearts with my heart nestabilities from some glitter felt and adhered them onto a green circle.  Then I die cut the stem from a leaf die…the button hides where everything meets :)  Voila, a perfect shamrock!!  I hope you have a lovely start to your weekend…thanks for sharing this little milestone with me…oh, this is the most wonderful time of the year for me :)

Another Irish Blessing!

St. Pat’s Fact: His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. After that time, Patrick retired to County Down. Patrick is thought to have died sometime around 461AD, on March 17th.

Edited to add:  a sweet blog visitor, Nancy, let me know that this card fulfills the Papertrey  Ink Paper Dolls challenge requirement this week :)  Thanks, Nancy!!  The challenge is to have something with P, T, I in your project…Nancy noticed  I have Patterned Paper, Triangles, and Ink!!  Then my fabulous blog buddy, Aimes, let me know that this card would also work for her Passion for Papertrey paper piecing challenge AND the Moxie Fab World Paper Piecing Challenge.

Hi everyone!!  Today’s card is one I’ve been dying to make for awhile.  I got the PTI banner dies AGES ago and just never have had the chance to use them.  I’ve been looking around and seeing what others have done with them and finally sat down on the weekend to play a bit.  After reading this Irish blessing, I thought I would make it a rainbow banner.  It was fun to pick out colours from my dp stash :)  Pretty CAS, but I think very effective.  No challenge today…I’m sure I could find one to fit this card…do you know one?  Let me know and I’ll put it in! LOL  Have a great day and make sure you come back tomorrow!! It’s my sketch debut over on the Verve Forum!!!  Yikes!!  Don’ be looking for a CAS card tomorrow…think loud, bold and clashing!! LOL  See you then :)
