Life Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect

Good morning!  I had a quiet evening in the studio last night while watching DWTS so I tidied up a bit and perused some challenges. I saw the colours over on CR84FN so decided to play around with some papers and see if anything came together.  This is what I came up with :)  I also wanted to crack open some new Bazzill Card Shoppe cardstock that the sweet people over at Bazzill Basics sent me to play with :)  An endorsement!!  I feel {almost} famous!!  I LOVE their cardstock!  It’s 100 lb weight so it’s nice and sturdy for card bases.  The only things that worries me about the paper are the colour names…Butter Mints, Peanut Cluster, Candy Corn…really, I may just try to eat it all!!  They all look and sound and feel so delicious!! ACK!! Teehee!  For today’s card, I used Marshmallow (white) and Icy Mint (light blue).  YUM!!  Thanks for stopping by!  The weather is still lovely and the deck is getting a real workout!! LOL  Cheers!

Happy Birthday

happybirthday

Good morning!  Oh, but after a weekend of beautiful sunshine and our new sundeck it’s hard to go back to work!  LOL  I whipped this card up during my little Mother’s Day inky session yesterday :)  I just HAD to use this fun new paper from American Crafts, Amy Tangerine…doesn’t that make you want to change your name?  ACK!! So fun!  I’m using this week’s My Favourite Things sketch and lots of their stamps and dies :)

Celebrate (on the patio!)

celebrate

Good morning!  Happy Mother’s Day!  I had a lovely afternoon yesterday, alternating between time in the studio and time on our sundeck (see picture below!).  I cracked open a new paper pad to use with this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge :)  The Say It Loud set is still in my little desk organizer so I chose a stamp that hadn’t seen ink yet :)

So here’s a photo of what is keeping me out of the studio this weekend…

This was taken in the morning so the deck was in the shade…we get the sun in the afternoon :)  Seriously, if I didn’t have to work or stamp, I would be here ALL THE TIME!  I am blessed :)  Have a lovely day and if you’re like me, you are remembering your mom and wishing she were here :)

Thanks So Very Much

Good morning!  Today’s card uses the bold colours from this week’s colourQ palette.  I wasn’t sure quite what to do with these colours so I went through all my paper pads (nicely thinned out with last week’s garage sale) and picked some paper that had the matching colours.  I got some happy mail from Ellen Hutson on Thursday so I broke open these fun printed tags…hmm, making me get the travel itch!

Oh, it’s a beautiful weekend here and our patio set arrived from Costco.ca.  So I’m going to be enjoying the new patio and maybe sneak a bit of stamping time in between coffee and wine ;)  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The Life You’ve Imagined

vlvmayweek3

Good morning!  It’s Friday and there’s a new Viva La Verve sketch ready to get your creative juices flowing.  I wanted to use an uplifting sentiment today and picked some Be Amazing paper to go with that sentiment…listen to your soul.  I die cut my Rounded Scallop Frame from a couple of Starbucks sleeves (oh, BTW, I’m getting my GOLD card soon!  ACK!) and the Ribbon Banner from some white corrugated paper.  I do hope you’ll join us over on the Viva La Verve Forum this week…if you participate all month, you could win a whopping $100 GC to Verve!! Oh, Christmas in May!

On a sad note, my dear blogging friend, Janelle, passed away yesterday with her husband and children by her side.  She discovered a brain tumor last August after her daughter’s wedding.  Her story, while sad, was filled with amazing faith and love and hope.  Unfortunately, sometimes God’s answer is “no, I have different plans for you.”  Janelle is whole again and with her Lord so it is her family and friends whom I’ll continue to pray for…prayers for peace and grace and strength to live out their lives without her Earthly presence.  If you wish, please pray for them too :)

Have a lovely day…our patio furniture is arriving today and it looks like a HOT weekend coming up :)  Enjoy!

Happy Mother’s Day ~ CASE Study # 90

happymothersday

Hello, friends!  We’re back at CASE Study with a gorgeous new card by our May Muse, Agnieszka Malyszek.  I couldn’t help but be inspired by the colours, the flowers and the sketch (rotated 90 degrees).  Yes, I warned you I may have a few more Mother’s Day cards in the works.  I actually sold this one last Sunday at our Community Garage Sale to a teacher friend who comes by each year to buy cards, specifically Mother’s Day ones.  It gave me the opportunity to use this year’s PTI anniversary set again :)  As you can see, I went for a more shabby, vintage feel unlike the beautiful CAS style of our inspiration card.  But that’s what I love about this challenge…it ALL works!

I want to leave you with the fabulous little metal word magnets I picked up at our Art Gallery Gift Store last Saturday.  The gallery shares the foyer to our downtown public library and I was picking up a book for my class.  Well, I HAD to stop by the gift store to see what was new and these metal words were it.  I couldn’t resist “Diva” and then the command “Create!”  LOL  They look fantastic on the magnetic backsplash above my computer :)

Thanks for popping by!  I do so hope you will join us this week over on CASE Study.  Can’t wait to see your creations!

Feel Better Soon

Good evening!  My regular post schedule has been rearranged a bit due to our busy weekend and work week.  My 23 seven year old students are making Mother’s Day cards this week so I’ve been trying to figure out the easiest way to have them “create” without going crazy.  I’m using the good parenting skill of “limiting choices to match the age.” LOL  They are always so amazed at embossing with the Cuttlebug so that keeps behaviour in check during this unstructured time in class :)  So though I should really be ironing, I’ve snuck into the studio to make a card for PTI’s Make It Monday.  How could I resist Dawn’s video and GORGEOUS CARD?  Oh, how I adore this woman!  And mixing patterned paper is something I’ve been working on for years.  I don’t always get it “right,” but I don’t freak out anymore when I do it.  PLUS, paper companies have made it pretty risk free with beautifully coordinated collections.  I picked from my favourite paper pad right now, Cosmo Cricket’s Twenty Three.  I played around a bit with the different patterns until I found a good combination.  I decided to add stitching to really define the different papers.  Pulled out Modern Woodgrain again (surprise, surprise!) and added another one of my sweet little resin flowers from a shop on Etsy.  The sentiment panel looked a little plain so I added a little strip of ruler paper I had on my desk to fill in some of the white space.  Hope you like it…thanks for visiting!
