Wish Big

Good evening...just a quick post before bedtime.  Tonight's card is for this week's Cinema Saturday film, Alice in Wonderland (Johnny Depp's version :) We are supposed to create something other than a card and inspired by the movie.  Yes, this first photo is a card, but wait...it gets better.  The bright blue butterfly is the Abosolum at the end of the movie and the sentiment "wish big" is when Alice needs to get bigger.  I received my Papertrey Ink order today and got the woodgrain impression plate...it's really cool in real life...click the photo and you can see a bit of it...here's a closeup...
Okay, the item that is "out of the box," and not a card is the bookmark I made to put inside the card as a gift.  I have so many friends who are readers and would love this inspiring bookmark :)  I've always loved this sentiment and love the Stampin' Up! set it comes in (a keeper, if you KWIM).  Here's the set together....and then a close up...okay...off to bed... nightie night again :)  Thanks for visiting...your comments put a little sparkle into my day :)

An Irish Blessing

Good evening!!  The great thing about being Irish (yes, I'm 1/4 Irish on my maternal Grandfather's side!) and being a St. Patrick's Day baby, is that it feels natural to wish Irish blessings to everyone, not just on March 17th :)  I am a new fan to Waltzing Mouse stamps and have been thrilled with the 2 sets I have purchased.  Claire, the owner, seems like a dear and she produces a high quality clear stamp :)  She has started a sketch challenge over on the Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge blog.  Though you don't need to use her stamps, I always feel funny if I don't use a company's stamps, especially if I have some.  I have used the Very Vintage Labels 4 set quite a few times here on my blog, so thought it only appropriate to break open the new set for the first challenge.  I knew there must be green on an Irish Blessing card...but didn't want it to look too much like a St. Patrick's Day card...not that there's anything wrong with that!! LOL  This lovely paper from the Basic Grey Kioshi pad gives the subtle feel of shamrocks and/or clover, IMHO :)  Oh, and I had to use some of my new seam binding ribbon.  I love this stuff...makes any card look so special :)  Mmmm, aqua, spring moss, kraft and white...yummy all over!! LOL  Well, that's it for me.  My last break before returning to finish these report cards :)  Almost done!

Birthday Wishes

Good evening!!! I've worked as much as I can on reports and taken a little stamping break before bed :)  I laid out the papers I wanted to use for the second Viva La Verve June challenge earlier today when it was bright and sunny in the studio.  I am definitely a day stamper...resorting to night work only when necessary.  The third inspiration photo, with that fun coverlet, jumped out at me this week :)  I looked through my Basic Grey Kioshi paper and found what I thought to be a lovely echo of this bedding.  I've wanted to use this Verve plain jane stamp since I won it back in March.  It is a perfect fit for the rectangle in the sketch.  I "reworked" the small horizontal panel to be ribbon but I think that's okay.  Aren't sketches allowed to be interpreted a bit?  {wink!}  The sparkly flower was waiting for a card like this to come along.  I made it for another Viva La Verve card back in March when I was the Guest Sketch Diva.  I love being able to use something that didn't work on another card....especially when I've taken the time to cut, glitter, and layer it :)  The little flower also made it easy to pick out a ribbon colour ;)  Okay, nightie, night...big writing day tomorrow :)

Mr. & Mrs.

Hmm, I always feel weird with "Mr. and Mrs." stamps as I'm a Ms.  But I'm sure whomever gets this won't mind :)  I guess I could slice out the "r" and put it in when needed :)  I've taken a break from changing the blog (hehe) to play along with Mercy's sketch this week.  Another great sketch that had ideas floating around in my head.  I wanted a big image for the large rectangle and though about PTI's Big and Bold Wishes.  I tried to keep it elegant with a few sweet touches of satin ribbon and pearls.  Okay, off to organize books and papers for the BIG write this weekend.  I will more than likely take stamping breaks...so stay tuned!! LOL  Have a fabulous weekend :)

Do Not Adjust Your Screen!!

...because I have been adjusting the blog!!  I have a new distraction this week (despite having to start writing report cards!!)  I've purchased a couple of blog kits and have been experimenting with what little knowledge I have.  I have to laugh when the instructions say anyone, even someone new to blogging, can edit code, etc!! LOL  This was not even around when I was at university...so it is something I will tackle this summer with lots of time off.  In the meantime, I do know how to add text to my header and post it :)  So bear with me as I change things up a bit :)  Because it's report card time and I have to make cards for my sister's store...I haven't made too many new cards this week so thought I would post one I made a while back.  I hope I haven't posted it...I tried checking back the last few months and didn't see it...I have made a few very similar because I love this layout and that cute little birdie :)  Yay, it's Friday...and even though it's report card writing weekend, I will enjoy it immensely :)  Hope you have a bright and sunny one as well :)

Sunshine and Smiles

Good evening!!  The week is almost half over and it was a sunny day and evening here :)  I love stamping by a bright window.  Tonight's card satisfies 2 challenges.  I love Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch this week.  I had to think for a bit about what oval image would work well, then thought of my new Verve Up, Up and Away.  Aha!!! Then I thought I could post it as another entry into the Up, Up and Away challenge on the Verve blog!!  I am falling in love with these little hot air balloons.  I didn't think I would, but here I am, a converted stamper!!  I love using fabulous patterned paper for the balloon :)  I also was able to use this cute little sentiment from Let it Shine :)  No ribbon again...no room...but twine always saves the day in this case :)  Hoping tomorrow is nothing but sunshine and smiles for you :)
