Guest Designer for Cinema Saturday!!

Good morning!! This is an exciting post for me as I was chosen last week to be the Guest Designer for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge :) When I found out the movie was "School of Rock," I was sooooo happy!!! I love this movie and I'm a teacher!! My son even gave me a copy for my birthday a few years ago. I watched it again this week to get the creative juices flowing, making a list of sayings, images and my favourite parts....hmmm, good student/teacher's pet? Primary colours, notepaper, binder edge, cork, musical background stamp, chalkboard with white sentiment is what I came up with after all the brainstorming. The requirement this week was to use cork (I helped with the idea as I love cork and don't use it enough) :)

I actually took some notepaper from work (shhh..) and glued it to cardstock to make it firmer. I really liked how it turned out... I love the white sentiment on the chalkboard and the cork flower. The fabulous sentiment refers to the student who was in charge of the costumes...he said, "(my creations) are fabulous!" After making the card, I left it on my computer desk and decided it needed one more detail...a little library clip :) They are so adorable and so "school." This movie is so funny. It made me a fan of Jack Black. A few of my favourite parts are: when he stage dives at the beginning and no one catches him; when he holds up 3 fingers, spreads them apart and says, "read between the lines;" when he does the special rock handshake with one of his students; and when he's singing the ticked off song and kicks over a desk with passion. It's just adorable!! This card has already been given away!! A dear teaching friend of mine is heading back to her own classroom full time after being on mat leave. I know she will love it and the goodies I've packed to go with it :) Please check out the Cinema Saturday Challenge and join in!! "For those of you about to {stamp}, I salute you!!!"

What's in it?
Stamps: Paper Inspirations (musical background); Verve Bountiful backgrounds (sentiment) and Kindred Spirits (dotted line)
Paper: SU vanilla, so saffron, black, Bazzill textured CS
Ink: SU craft white, sahara sand
Accessories: cork, button, grosgrain, cuttlebug ef and flower dies, silver brads, SU linen thread, library clip; EK binder edge punch

Congrats on being guest designer! I love this card! I bought some cork board awhile back, and still haven't used it! I think I need to get mine out! :) We are BIG Jack Black fans at our house! You know the guy named Spider in School of Rock? He hits on the principal, that is my dentists' son. His name is Lucas Babin. My husband used to play basketball against him in school! Funny, huh?! Have you seen Nacho Libre, with Jack Black in it? It's goofy, but we LOVE it! It is so funny! :) Anyway, love the card, and I bet your friend did too! :)

Love the 'chalkboard!' You absolutely captured the classroom feeling on your card. What a perfect week for you to be the guest designer!

Well, I officially survived my first week of little tiny kiddos. I think that's going to be my biggest challenge this year... Understaning and remembering the fact that they are much younger and less experienced at school that what I have become used to. I had to teach them how to use white glue on Thursday! The things we take for granted later on in their eduction... Huh. :) Have fun setting up your room! And I won't tell anyone you stole some supplies. ;)

Oh my gosh! You rocked that Guest Stamper spot - Awesome =)

There sure seem to be a lot of Seahawks fans in AB/BC...I think it's partly because that's all they got for quite a while...if you want to make some of your own, I can mail you some images. =)
