A Difficult Anniversary

difficultanniversary

Good morning dear friends.  Yesterday was the annual sisters’ lunch and shopping trip.  All but one of us made it and we picked up some gorgeous discounted Christmas decorations :)  It was a fun day together despite knowing that today might be a little difficult for us.  Some of my closest followers might remember my mom passing away a year ago today.  My oldest sister and I held her hand as she passed.  An old acquaintance who I ran into a few months ago told me she believes people “choose” who will be with them when they die and this was quite comforting to me as I did feel honoured and happy to be there with her.  My sisters, dad and I will go to early mass this morning and then out to breakfast.  Mom would have loved that :)  I’ve used this week’s Mojo Monday sketch to make this card for anyone who might be remembering someone special who is not with them.  Sending hugs to where you are :)

What a lovely card, Moe, and a great use of the mojo sketch. My heart goes out to you today....I was there when my dad died as well and though it has been five years it still feels like yesterday on the anniversary. Big (((hug)) for you.

Glad to hear you got some good deals on Christmas decor and I'm sure your dad greatly appreciated having all of you with him today.

Oh Moe: this is a very touching card. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. I know I lost my father 10 years ago and I was so sad the other day thinking about it, so I am sure yours is so much fresher. Hugs my friend!

Maureen, my thoughts are with you today. I hope the day was okay for you. I am a firm believer that people do pass when they are ready and when surrounded by those they love. How blessed your mum was to have you by her side. I was lucky enough to be by my dad's side when he passed away six years ago. Wishing I was there to give you a big hug.

Always with the beautiful, touching cards for the occasions that they're needed most. I'm sure your mom was proud of you and your sisters and would've loved the way you chose to honour her together!

I was thinking of you during this emotional time, Diva. It's hard to believe it's been a year already. I love the idea of this card and your sweetness to offer it to anyone who is remembering someone special who is not with them.
I'm glad you were able to spend time with your family and still had the annual sisters' lunch.
HUGS

This is such a beautiful card, Maureen, and so packed with meaning. And your words caused me to remember being with my dad when he passed away. My mom and I were holding his hands -- and it was a privilege to be there. And then I just remembered that I let the anniversary pass this year (January 6) without even thinking about it. How bad is that?!? Of course, I think of my dad often... but can't believe I let that day slip by. :( Anyway, that is a gorgeous card. I need to check into that stamp set... I can see that sentiment coming in handy!
