Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! Blog Birthday Party!!

 blessings

Top o’ the morning to you all!!! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!  I thought I would start this post with a little Irish Blessing, ”May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow…and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.”   How do you like my little shamrock?  I made it with a prima flower.  I cut the stem out of the fourth leaf!! I also have a few more St. Pat’s Facts for you…I love these ones!!

Believe it or not, the colour of St. Patrick was not actually green, but blue! In the 19th century, however, green came to be used as a symbol for Ireland.

St Patrick is credited with establishing the Leap Year tradition of women proposing to men. The story states this was because St Bridget complained that women were tired of waiting for marriage proposals. The story also says that Bridget proposed to him, but he refused!

Well, it’s going to be a non stop day of celebration for me…my leprechaun, Scotty, has been playing tricks in my class for the past two weeks and the kids have been so excited to celebrate Green Day :)  Then it’s off to dinner at a local pub that serves green beer :)  AND then I was thinking, hey, it’s not a party without some “CANDY” …so, here’s what’s in the Birthday Blog Candy this year…a little Verve package with two of my favourite Birthday sets AND one of my favourite dies (and matching stamp!).  I do not have them in my hot little hands yet, but they are on their way and then hopefully onto YOU!!

How does that sound?  To qualify for the prize all you have to do is leave a comment telling me about a special birthday you’ve had :)  You don’t have to be a follower, but you do need to leave me your email address if you want to be contacted. I’ll post the winner on March 26th here on the blog.  If I can’t get in touch with you, I’ll pull another name.   Even followers can’t be contacted if they have their email turned off so if you want to win, you either need to leave me your email in the comment section or come back on March 26th…I’ll wait 3 days :)  Yippee!!!  I hope you all have a fabulous, amazing day!!! I’ll leave you with one last card my sister sent me a few years ago…Irish Blessings to you all :)

Wow--I'm delighted to be the first to wish you a FABULOUS birthday!!! & St. Patty's Day!!! And how absolutely generous of you to be giving away a gift on your birthday! I wish you a day filled with your favourite things (by the sounds of it, the only thing missing is some crafty time--hope you get that too!)

My favourite birthday would likely by my Sweet sixteen--16 girlfriends over for a sleepover--such fun memories!!

Love your card; that ribbon is fabulous! Have a great day my friend!!

Happy, Happy Birthday to you! We are celebrating my brother's 50th tonight with some green beer too! I also have a cousin, Patty, who was born today, she will be 47. My favorite B-day was my 40th - I was thrown a surprise party and a ton of wonderful family, friends and co-workers were there to help me celebrate. Have a great day - you sound like you would be a really fun teacher! Julie
I don't have a google account to put in my email, but I plan on getting one soon so I can participate in all the fun give aways that I see :-)

Happy St. Patty's Birthday! :) Hope you have a wonderful day!

My favorite birthday would probably be my 30th - just friends and family for dinner and then we went to a lovely park and just spent time together laughing and talking! Nothing wild just just good time with lovely people. :)

Happy Birthday! I LOVE your card today, blue and green are my absolute favorite colors. Thanks for a chance to win a present from you today! My favorite birthday memory was from about 6 years ago. My husbands job was moving us to Kentucky, he had gone on, and I was still in Michigan during my birthday. That morning he called me up and sent me on a little scavenger hunt! He had hidden gift cards to all my favorite places through out the house before he left! There was one to Starbucks hidden in the coffee cupboard, one to Bath & Body Works in the bathroom, etc... The best part was, he FORGOT where he hid one of them!! LOL, he finally remembered about two weeks later! It's a memory that's making me laugh as I write this... Hope your day is full of Blessings and Laughter too!

Woohoo! Happy Birthday, Moe!
Gorgeous card as usual =) For a memorable birthday....hmmmm...I have two that really stand out. My 13th birthday I received my horse and that kept me out of trouble for years. Then two years ago, MrP gave me tickets to see my Patriots play in San Francisco, which lead to a life changing vacation. Loved it - now to get to see the Pats play at home.... =)

My favorite birthday was my 70th when my children surprised me with a wonderful reunion. I thought only my daughter and her husband were coming and then my sisters, two nieces and my 2 sons arrived(one lives in england)along with 3 of my grandchildren. It's the only surprise party I've ever had but it certainly was a great. Read your blog every day Maureen - I'm not Irish but have a good Irish last name -enjoyed all your St. Pat's lore and your beautiful card today - very clever shamrock! my email is bkeefe@lps.org

Happy happy birthday girl! My favorite birthday was a couple of years ago, hubby surprised me with a Kitchen Aid mixer, I had been wanting one forever. I know most women don't want an appliance as a gift, but I love baking and I love my Kitchen Aid! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAUREEN!!! (((Hugs))) Enjoy your day to the fullest - sounds like you have a good one planned :) Your card is on my blog today and will find itself into the mail shortly.

A favorite birthday...hmmm...have three actually so will pick the most recent. For my 40th, hubby sent me to Whistler for a skiing weekend - just me and my skis :) Hadn't skied for about 8 years and was sooo looking forward to it. Ended up we had a VERY mild January and it was raining to the top of Whistler so I hung out in the hotel, did pilates, watched movies, worked out, read in bed - just relaxed. When I got home, the entire house (inside) had been painted. We had chosen the colours and were going to start on the job in the summer but he got our Bible Study together and they all come over to help paint! It looked fabulous and was a wonderful double gift :)

Happy, happier, happiest birthday, Maureen. Hope this is the best birthday you've had yet...and that you enjoy every minute of it.

My favorite birthday (March 14) was when my three-year-old identical twin sons and their Dad conspired to give me a surprise day. It started with breakfast together (blueberry pancakes made by them), then progressed to a trip around Chicago (zoo, Museum of Science and Industry, Planetarium, lunch at The Palmer House), a very chilly walk along the lake, and then a wonderful pizza dinner. It was PERFECT to get to spend the whole day with my guys AND be the center of attention.

Happy Birthday, Maureen. And Happy St. Patrick's Day, too. Hope your day is memorable.

One very special birthday was the year I turned 34. It was the first time my daughter sang the Happy Birthday song to me. She melted my heart, again, with her jubilant rendition. Thanks so much for the chance to share in your birthday with the generous blog candy.

Love your creative shamrock!

A super special, happy birthday to you, Maureen! I have really enjoyed your St. Pat's facts and was just sharing some with my hubby this morning. Your card for today is absolutely beautiful with all of those fab patterned papers.

Hope you have a wonderful day! I don't really have any special birthday stories as I usually don't make much of them, but I hope you get spoiled rotten! Enjoy!

Happy happy birthday Maureen! You're day sounds wonderful...I will be sure to toast you with a green beer this evening! You're birthday blog candy is so generous! I have loved reading everyones comments too. Today would rank as a great belated birthday for me...time at the beach and a massage...but I have to say my hubby makes every birthday special. My favorite birthday memories are the times when he has the boys make handmade gifts and cards for me. Another favorite is when my brothers came up to see me at college for my 20th birthday...extra special as they are older than me and I was thrilled that they wanted to spend time with their little sister! Have a great day Moe...you deserve it!

Happy birthday my wonderful Vervalicious Diva pal! Hope you have a wonderful day, filled with many happy surprises and...like I wished for my other wonderful St. Patty's day friend, Colleen...maybe a spa treatment, some gourmet chow and a foot rub! Do you think that they are in the cards for today? I hope so, for you! Enjoy you're very special day and I'm so glad that we became Divas together!!

Happy Birthday!!! I believe you must be lucky to be born on this day! My special birthday was the year that I turned 30. My boyfriend (then, hubby now!) proposed the day before I turned 30 so that I could say that I was engaged before I was 30. I am a bit sensitive to my age. Then he threw a huge surprise birthday/engagement party with tons of friends and family!

Happy happy birthday. My best one was in South Africa and being within touching distance of a bull elephant, whilst out on the game drive and then seeing the most spectacular star lit sky that evening.

I had to come and wish you a Happy Birthday! I hope it is a fabulous day and got lots of celebrating in, good food and prizes too!

A special birthday: hm..... well I was coaching my youngest son's basketball team and we were getting ready for a tournament and my son (in cohoots with my hubby) interrupted practice and made arrangements for us to leave- only to come home to a house full of party goers to celebrate. He was so proud of himself, just beaming!

Your give away is awesome too- I have still to get those dies and coordinating stamps. (fingers crossed) : steinrn@yahoo.com

Happy Birthday! I've enjoyed your St. Patrick's Day trivia. We also celebrate the day in a big way; husband is in the Emerald Society Pipe and Drum band. Fun Fun.

Okay, my favorite birthday: My birthday is on May 1st so I'm a May Day baby. When I was very young we went to church and they had a May pole and this children all danced around it with streamers. I remember thinking I was quite special since it was MY birthday. You don't see that anymore - no more flower baskets left on doors either. :( I've had special birthdays since then, but that was my favorite.

Happy belated but hope my email found its way to you on the right day! My favorite birthday was my 40th last July. My hubby rented a suite for a Giants game and we had 20 friends and family all with us to celebrate! They kinda turned the season around then and ended up winning the World Series! I think we helped!

Belated birthday wishes to you! I hope your birthday was wonderful. Thanks for the chance to win some Verve goodness.

My most memorable birthday was my 27th. It was my first birthday after my DH and I got married. He was a med student while I worked. When I got home from work, he was already home. He'd cooked dinner, decorated the house with balloons, set a beautiful table with flowers, china and birthday cake. He also gave me a gorgeous Swarovski crystal figurine. It was amazing!

I've scrolled through all the posts I've missed and will leave here throroughly inspired. You have such a knack with patterned paper, bows, buttons, and, of course, bling! :) To save time, I decided to only comment on one -- so, of course, I had to comment on the one that possibly had something in it for me. (haha!)
First of all -- I truly meant to drop by on Thursday and wish you a happy, happy birthday. But, late seems to be my method of operation, so I belatedly wish you a very happy birthday and a terrific year to come.
I have many favorite birthday memories, but in recent years, my husband has surprised me at morning carpool by doing something crazy... one year he handed each child a flower to give to me. Another year each child was wearing a party hat or blowing one of those curly things when I opened the door. Actually, it's not much of a surprise anymore, but it sure is fun! (And the moms love it... and him for doing it... I think it puts a bit of pressure on the husbands of our preschoolers! :) ) Anyway, happy, happy day to you -- and a wonderful weekend and spring break! (May you be more productive on yours than I was on mine!)

Your creation is beautiful as always, I admire your layers and use of embellishments since I have such a difficult time with them. I had a HUGE, I mean HUGE, birthday celebration with my twin sister when I turned 30. The best part was that all of my cousins, from both sides, showed up so were were able to take pictures that haven't been taken since we were little. Fun, fun times. Happy belated birthday to you,and mine was on March 10th. My favorite birthday was when my penpal from Australia came for a visit to us in Michigan and a tour of the US. We have been writing since 1965. My husband surprised me with tickets for her next stop... NYC so I could travel with her, let her visit with our families in the area and share a special time. He even took 2 days off work to watch the boys for my girl getaway!

Happy belated birthday! My husband is a St. Patty's Day baby and celebrated his 60th this year with my homemade corned beef and cabbage dinner! It was yummy! (He is not very happy about the big six-oh. LOL). Your cards are beautiful and I have fallen in love with the Verde line.

My best birthday was my 50th when my hubby surprised me with a party for 75 people! I was not really surprised (women know everything...LOL) but it was a great evening of fun, family and friends.

Thanks for all the beautiful work you do. You are very talented. Robin B. Galfriday8@sbcglobal.net

I, too, am a St. Paddy's baby but probably several years before yours. :-) I must have been 9 or 10 before I realized that the entire world wasn't celebrating my birthday. In addition to being born on St. Patrick's Day, I'm Irish on both sides of the family tree. Most special celebration was the year my oldest 2 kids (then ages 10 1/2 and 6) decided to bring me breakfast in bed, and breakfast was a bowl of cereal with jellybeans sprinkled in (my favorite candy!) Have never forgotten that one. Happy belated b'day.

I surely hope you had a fabulous birthday, green beer sounds like it should have been fun! Just followed over here from the Verve blog hop and I am a follower of yours, love your style. So one of my favorite birthdays was my 50th birthday. My best friend just moved back home to Calgary, Canada and I was missing her terribly so my husband sent me to Canada for my 50th birthday. That was such a wonderful surprise for me. It was my first visit to Calgary and we went all over the place including the Calgary Stampede!!! Thank you for offering blog candy on your birthday, it is always fun thinking about winning something awesome from Verve!

Most memorable bday! With jan 7th being so close to Christmas...I was sorta left behind in the bday dept. as a child. Not complaining just stating the facts. (Two of my brothers have bdays Dec 21, and Dec 23) One bday friends were coming over and they kidnapped me to a nearby restaurant while others decorated my home, then we came back to my home and every one crafted a scrapbook page for a new scrap book for me. They all had pics of me with them and it was such a fun night and I got a great book with all of my friends and me pics. It was a night to remember.

My favorite would have to be my 30th birthday. Although I was recovering from surgery I had my first child 11 days earlier and it was a girl! We were shocked considering I am one of 6 with 4 older brothers and my husband is one of 8 with only `1 sister - never expected my first born to be a girl and I was thrilled. SInce my birthday is close to Christmas it was a December to remember! I hope you had a lovely day and thanks for the opportunity to win more Verve goodies!! :)

Happy belated Birthday to you!! I LOVE St. Paddy's Day, it is my favorite "little" holiday of the whole year!! How wonderful for you to have your birthday on it. Our family goes out and listens to wonderful bagpipe music, grown ups drink a fine Irish Ale, and we watch the Celic dancers with their beautiful costumes move across the floor with grace. It's just the best day, so happy you get to share your birthday on such a fine day!!!

My best birthday was 2 years ago. My hubby helped my kids make me a homemade birthday card (including stamps). It was 8.5 x 11, so quite large, but filled with love. We went to dinner and they spoiled me with presents, but the card meant the most to me.

Thanks for a birthday present to a "lucky" winner. Verve is very nice gift to receive!!!
