Time to Celebrate

St. Pat’s Fact: Familiar with the Irish language and culture, Patrick chose to incorporate traditional ritual into his lessons of Christianity instead of attempting to eradicate native Irish beliefs. For instance, he used bonfires to celebrate Easter since the Irish were used to honouring their gods with fire. He also is said to have superimposed a sun, a powerful Irish symbol, onto the Christian cross to create what is now called a Celtic cross, so that veneration of the symbol would seem more natural to the Irish.

timetocelebrate Good morning!!  I know that’s a long St. Pat’s Fact…but I thought the information on how the Celtic Cross came to be interesting :)  Anyways, in my quest for some new challenges, I came across this one through some blogs I follow.  It’s the Clear and Simple Fall to Layout sketch.  I loved the little sentiment panel and thought my Verve Vintage Oval die would work perfectly…AND my October Afternoon Modern Homemaker paper ;)  I usually tie my ribbon around the whole card and tie it into a bow, but I needed the ribbon to lay flat so you wouldn’t see the seam of the two papers.  The card still looked a little “dull” to me so I added a row of red zigzag stitches :)  Hope your “hump” day is going well :)

This is gorgeous Maureen! I love the patterned papers you chose. The color combination is perfect! I also love that you used red thread on your sewing. I only alternate between white and black because I'm too lazy to do anything else!!! Hee! :P
