St. Pat’s Fact: Much Irish folklore surrounds St. Patrick's Day. Not much of it is actually substantiated. Some of this lore includes the belief that Patrick raised people from the dead. He also is said to have given a sermon from a hilltop that drove all the snakes from Ireland. Of course, no snakes were ever native to Ireland, and some people think this is a metaphor for the conversion of the pagans. Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved into more of a secular holiday.
Good morning and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!1 There’s a lot going on today so let’s get right to it! First up, this sweet vintage-y card is for the Waltzingmouse Stamps blog hop. It happens every month on the 17th and as luck would have it, that’s St. Patrick’s Day this month!! I share their love for this day so it was easy to make the required green/St. Patrick’s Day/celtic card :) I found a sweet little vintage Irish girl card and then added an Irish blessing to her. I love the little shamrock tag hanging from the ribbon :)
As many of you know, it’s also my birthday!! I feel so blessed having entered the world on this fabulous day!! Hence the Irish name, Maureen. I am also 1/4 Irish on my Mom’s side :) It’s not a party with out a goodie bag so I’m offering up a little treat to one lucky commenter on today’s post. I’ve got 2 of my favourite Verve stamp sets (Feel the Sun, Better with You) and a bag of goodies…I’ll be going through the studio and filling a little bag with various embellishments (they’ll come in a plastic bag for shipping).
All you have to do is leave a comment…a little birthday love, a great St. Patrick’s day story or maybe tell me what a good birthday wish might be as I blow out my candles today! Also, leave an email address if your email is not turned on for comments, otherwise I cannot contact the winner. I will post the winner’s name next Saturday morning, March 24th. The winner will have 3 days to contact me if I cannot contact them or I’ll draw another name. Thanks for stopping by and “May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.”
