Ode to Fall ~ Raspberry Suite Challenge #16

Good morning! I'm not sure if everyone knows, but I am not a Fall person. Oh, I love the colours and the slightly cooler temperatures, but I miss my lazy summer days. Spring is actually my favourite season with all the new signs of life and, of course, my birthday. I strive to love Fall and so here's my ode to it. Dawn's colours this week scream Fall. It made me think of Thanksgiving so I chose this sentiment from Verve (a free stamp with purchase this month...thanks, Julee!). I also got my new lattice die from Stampin' Up! I knew I wanted to use it on this card. I had drawn out the sketch in my head but had to rework it over and over for 1.5 hours last night! I tried 3 different colours of lattices, 3 different colours of card bases and 3 different colours of sentiments. I really earned my money on this one (too bad it's a hobby!!) I also wanted to make the flower yellow with a brown middle like a sunflower. It's been stamped with a small damask image and clear embossed. I like the clean lines of the card. I have a feeling I'm going to have a lot of fun with this die...I also tried layering two lattices together, kind of like a shadow effect...it looked great, just not for this card. So this card, along with Dawn's love of Fall, is making me chant an "Ode to Fall ". I'm off to get ready to go back to the classroom. My son comes home today until Monday:) Yippee!!

I love your card!!! There's something so beautiful about a simple, elegant card. I adore the lattice and the flower. The rhinestones add such a lovely touch as well. To me these simple cards are some of the hardest to do because everything has to be just right for it to work and you hit the nail on the head!!!
Thanks so much for your comments - it means so much :)
