Happy Birthday

Good morning!!! And Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there :)  Today's card is for the Viva La Verve challenge over on Splitcoast.  Amber is killing me this week with a fabulous sketch and totally inspiring photos :)  I couldn't choose so I made two cards for two different rooms.  I'll post the second tomorrow :)  This rug is what got me....I had to emboss some leaves from Turning a New Leaf (that's for you, Kristina!! LOL)  I finally got to ink up this Plain Jane "Happy Birthday" that was part of my March win :)  These stamps are truly a dream to stamp with...  I find Versafine onyx a great ink for clear stamps...SU is usually okay, but some colours don't work as well as others...IMHO.  The flower is made out of a Starbucks treat bag!!! I saw this idea on Jen del Muro's blog on my birthday!!  I thought it was such a great idea that I kept a bag in the studio for over a month!! I just kept folding it and folding it until it was just the right size to fit on my PTI blossom die.  I'm not sure how many layers there are, but I'm sure it's over 20!! LOL  The valance in the picture inspired the scallop edge :)  Have a lovely day and see you tomorrow with card #2!!

What's in it?
stamps: verve plain jane; pti turning a new leaf, polka dot basics
ink: versafine onyx; su certain celery; versamark
paper: pti white, ocean tide, aquamist, cosmo cricket dp; starbucks treat bag
accessories: su grosgrain, PTI blossom #2 and medium scallop dies; $ store brad; gemstones; rectangle nestabilities; white embossing powder

I NEED that PTI leaf set!! I was immediately drawn to them in the rug and thought of that set right away. Love how you embossed them in white and your flower was well worth keeping that gift bag for :D Great card :D Happy Mother's Day!!

Great job with the sketch! I really like the white embossing and the dp. Beautiful! I think I'll be using the same inspiration picture.

AHHH! Love those embossed leaves. *sigh* You totally stole my idea, too, lol. I'm just going to have to emboss mine as well. That blue rug spoke to me the moment I saw the inspiration pictures. It's the only picture I saved onto my computer, hehe. I love the litle row of gingham scallops, too!
