Have a Fantastic Birthday

haveafantasticbirthdaymaureenplut

Good morning!  Today’s card is the first night’s homework in the Online Card Class: Clean & Simple.  I signed up for at the last minute yesterday :)  As you know, I’m trying to improve my CAS style to be more versatile so I thought I’d go straight to the BIG GUNS (Kristina Werner, Jennifer McGuire and Julie Ebersole)!

Today’s lesson was just getting us started as well as defining CAS because everyone has a different take on it.  To me it means, CLEAN and SIMPLE!! LOL  Not a lot of embellishments, few layers and the sentiment takes center stage.  I‘m not quite sure this card is true to that definition, but it was late and this is what came out of my hands before bedtime :)  I have created a focal point which is important to CAS design so maybe I’m okay :)  We were given several different sketches and I chose Kristina’s as I’ve made a similar card before.  I’m using 2 Clearly Besotted Stamp sets, Once Upon a Time and It’s Your Birthday.  Thanks for stopping by!  Stay tuned for some more CAS explorations :)

Fabulous CAS card Maureen! Love the scalloped/gingham border too. Funny thing is that even though the card is more CAS than your usual style, it still bears your signature. BTW, I also signed up for this class (on Sunday LOL) and I'm using the same sketch for my day 1 card. Hope to finish and upload it tonight.

This is great Maureen - the sentiment is perfect. I did a last minute sign up too and am so glad I did - I really enjoyed the first lesson and think it'll give me a real nudge to try some new techniques (which terrify me actually, lol!!).

I love your CAS work! So glad you're dabbling in it a lot more lately!
. . . and you know I love that lined paper--it looks so much better on your card though than in the stack of exams I have to mark tonight!
