Good morning! Today’s card is the first night’s homework in the Online Card Class: Clean & Simple. I signed up for at the last minute yesterday :) As you know, I’m trying to improve my CAS style to be more versatile so I thought I’d go straight to the BIG GUNS (Kristina Werner, Jennifer McGuire and Julie Ebersole)!
Today’s lesson was just getting us started as well as defining CAS because everyone has a different take on it. To me it means, CLEAN and SIMPLE!! LOL Not a lot of embellishments, few layers and the sentiment takes center stage. I‘m not quite sure this card is true to that definition, but it was late and this is what came out of my hands before bedtime :) I have created a focal point which is important to CAS design so maybe I’m okay :) We were given several different sketches and I chose Kristina’s as I’ve made a similar card before. I’m using 2 Clearly Besotted Stamp sets, Once Upon a Time and It’s Your Birthday. Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for some more CAS explorations :)

Oh this is definitely a very awesome CAS card...love the woodgrain tag and the sweet little button...and oh yea that polka dot scalloped border. Perfection!
Woops gingham border :)!
Fabulous CAS card Maureen! Love the scalloped/gingham border too. Funny thing is that even though the card is more CAS than your usual style, it still bears your signature. BTW, I also signed up for this class (on Sunday LOL) and I'm using the same sketch for my day 1 card. Hope to finish and upload it tonight.
Love this CAS card! The background paper is perfect!!
I love what you've done with that sketch, Maureen! The scalloped circle, framing the large sentiment, looks so pretty!
Maureen great take on the sketch! The notebook paper and the banner are perfect.
Fantastic card Maureen - I'll be signing up for this class too, I learned so much from the first one :) x
This is great Maureen - the sentiment is perfect. I did a last minute sign up too and am so glad I did - I really enjoyed the first lesson and think it'll give me a real nudge to try some new techniques (which terrify me actually, lol!!).
Good for you for spreading your wings :) Great CAS card. Look forward to seeing more as your class progresses.
LOve this...I am a shabby girl and always add a lot to my cards but love the CAS style!
This is so pretty! Love the wooden banner sentiment!!
I love your CAS work! So glad you're dabbling in it a lot more lately!
. . . and you know I love that lined paper--it looks so much better on your card though than in the stack of exams I have to mark tonight!
Oh Maureen, your card has lots of WOW factor in a CAS way :) Love the gingham scallop and fun wood banner
oooh, love your design! The pink + B&W polka-dots = pure happiness
I love it! Beautiful choice of papers, it is so charming.
Ooh, this makes my heart flutter. :) Love the cut out circle for the sentiment and the button to anchor the sentiment banner.
