Good morning! I’ve got a two-fer today! I was making this card for the colourQ challenge this week then viewed Dawn’s Make It Monday video and decided I could make an oversized envelope/bag for the card to fulfill her challenge as well! The colour combo is a bit different for the layered flower, but I’m kind of loving the non traditional palette! When I saw the colour Q colours, this flower came to mind right away so I was determined to use it despite there being no green for the leaves. The Make it Monday portion of this post shows the coordinating bag that I can use to package this card that goes off the 4.25” sides.
Here’s the card inside the bag. Fits perfectly with room to spare! I got the decorating idea from Michelle Wooderson’s blog HERE. I just love what she does with packaging!
So what do I do for overly large and/or layered cards? I usually use clear envelopes for cards that will fit. They have the perfect “give” that paper envelopes don’t have. I sometimes use bubble envelopes if needed but recently started using photo mailers (heavy cardboard ones) as they are sturdier and a bit thinner so postage can be less than a bubble envelope. If I’m just giving someone a card, I might not use an envelope at all, but prop it up on their desk or just in the tissue in a gift bag. Thanks for stopping by. How do you get around odd shapes or super layered cards?
what’s in them?

Okay...so I'm really bad..I normally still try to fit them in a normal envelope! But...I have to say I am in LOVE with this glasine bag. It is absolutely beautiful. I'm loving the sweet little tag with the eyelet and pin holding it. And wow...the gray leaves against the gorgeous colors are amazing!
This is gorgeous, Maureeen!! I love the layering of all the die cuts and how you have used the colors. Just perfect!! Thanks so much for joining us at the ColourQ!
Hi Maureen, It's been a while since I commented on your cards but I always look and read your blog posts. Since I saw that Make it Monday this week, I have to tell you how gorgeously you have decorated your glassine bag! So pretty and so is your card.

Beautiful card and bag. I think the flower looks great, even with no green leaves. :)
Love how you decorated the glassine bag.
Your card is gorgeous Maureen. I also like your card bag. I try to avoid oversized cards or heavy layering since living abroad and on an island means I always have to send my cards by regular mail.
This is so pretty:)
Soooo pretty Schmoopy!! I love that clump of flowers on your card, gorgeous! And the bag is amazing! You have my address, right?:)
What a beautiful card. You did an amazing job on both the card AND envie!!
Wow! This is gorgeous, Maureen! Love the white space with the beautiful flower. You rocked this challenge! Have a great weekend!
Such a fabulous flower - love it!! Those grey leaves are fabulous as is that yummy polka dotted paper. Great take on the colours and the accompanying bag is daring with the tag and mini clothespin. great work as always. Have a fabulous weekend and go show those weights who is boss ;)
WOW, your card and bag are both great!! Love how you've done all the leaves and the stacked flowers.

Maureen that card is a showstopper! So gorgeous. Love the glassine bag decoration too.
Oh those colors are simply yummy together!!! I love that you are not afraid to have leaves in a color other than green...they look great!
Oh, so pretty Maureen! Love the colors together and the fabulous dimensional flower... the matching glassine bag is awesome!
