Congrats!!

congrats

Good morning!!  It’s been awhile since I played along with the Card Patterns sketch.  But this one really spoke to me with that sweet little banner :)  AND I’ve had these extra banner shapes sitting on my desk for 2 months!! I couldn’t bear to throw them out as they took awhile to make (figuring out the dp for THIS CARD).  I also was looking for a card to put some of my new royal velvet ribbon on!  Oh what a rich colour…a cross between purple and navy…LOVE!  With such a fun card, I had to pick a fun sentiment…this one from Verve’s To the Moon Set was perfect!!  I also used my GRAND circle nestabilities to make this card a little under 5 x 5.  Thanks for stopping by!!  I had a lot of time to play in the studio this weekend, so I’ve got lots of fun things to share for the rest of the week :)  Hope you come back!!

You are a Treasure

Greetings, friends!!  Well, we all survived the crash of Blogger and hopefully are back on track! LOL  I’ve decided I couldn’t just sit on the sidelines for this week’s Tuesday Trigger challenge over on The Moxie Fab World blog.  Here’s the inspiration photo this week…
Ardennes Skirt from Anthropologie
Now, I’m a tall girl and A-Line skirts don’t look good on me at all…they make my hip look huge…I’m more of a pencil  skirt kind of gal :)  But I just fell in love with the colours.  Hopefully, my card shows this colour combo, along with subtle “lines” (think button line, ribbon line, sentiment line) and a nod to fashion via the gorgeous Websters Pages Trendsetter paper :) If you look closely, there is a skirt on the paper!! Cool!! How about some updated house pictures…or are y’all sick of my pile of dirt!! LOL
basementfloor
Now, I’m not sure if I have the correct proportions on the studio…teehee!  The space did NOT look that big when the dh showed it to me the other day. However, he assures me it’s twice as big as what I have now…we’ll see!! HA!!  There will be French doors out to the backyard and patio to the right of the studio and the rest of the basement will be rec room/living space, storage, bathroom and a media/storage room underneath the garage (suspended slab).

This picture shows how much dirt they’ve used to fill in beside the house.  My last house update showed the whole exposed wall.  And we need MORE dirt!  All that tar should be underground.  The next step is to have the electrical and plumbing come into the house, then the dh will pour the basement floor.  Framing should start after our Victoria long weekend (May 23rd).  Thanks for stopping by!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Welcome!! It’s TGIF and Viva La Verve Friday here on the old blog :)  Hopefully this post is on the old blog as Blogger was down and freaking us all out last night!! LOL  How frustrating!  Diva Amy is our hostess this week as well as the hostess of Get Your Diva On this month.  Check out the deets HERE as YOU could be the next Verve Guest Diva!!  Today’s card was using some more of my new goodies…Cosmo Cricket Social Club and some flowers from Michaels (clearanced, so I guess not THAT new, but new to me! LOL)  I’m off to see Water for Elephants tomorrow as I just finished the book this week.  I hear it’s as good as the book!  What are your plans this weekend?  Thanks for visiting, now head on over to the Verve Forum on Splitcoast for all the fun!!

Birthday Wishes ~ Repost

birthdaywishes

Edited to add: this was posted Thursday, but went through the wringer with the Blogger meltdown so I’m reposting…thanks for looking (again!)

Good morning!!  I have a fun card and more house photos to share today :)  First up is my card for the latest Colour Q colour challenge.  I wasn’t too sure about these colours, but once I started playing around with different embellishments, I started smiling :D  I always like to check my patterned paper collection when participating in a colour challenge.  This Basicgrey paper seemed to fit perfectly.  I also wanted to use my new Jillibean corrugated shapes.  I tried making my own version with my crimper, but couldn’t get the deep impression of real corrugated cardboard AND they weren’t that expensive :)  {‘cause it’s just cardboard! LOL}  A pop of yellow here and there, a bit of bling and the card turned out better than I had imagined :)  LOVE when that happens :) Okay, now onto the house… they tarred the sides yesterday.  There’s the dh in the middle of the house!!  He’s where the basement will be.  Remember, all that tarring will be underground eventually.

I walked around to the other side of the house and climbed into the basement for the “tour” and to see the size of the studio. The dh assures me it’s twice as big as my room now, but it’s still hard to imagine!  However, it’s easy to imagine stamping with this view! LOL  The studio floor will be basically level with this concrete wall.

Well, that’s all for today :)  Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in my house excitement :)  Hugs to everyone!!

Hurrah!

hurrah!

Good morning!!  Today’s card is a bright, cheery little “Hurrah” card that I gave to one of the three colleagues I’ve been telling you about this week.  They have just completed their Masters in Education and I’ve made each of them a sweet little card to congratulate them.  I’ve use the Waltzingmouse Stamps sketch for this week, but had to take a great deal of liberty with the circle shapes.  I do not have any of their fabulous doily stamps (YET!) so I substituted 2 different sizes of flowers.  I used some more sheet music paper as this card is for our Music teacher!! LOL  I think she’ll appreciate it… or be horrified that I used a perfectly good sheet of music paper…lol!  Have a wonderful day..two more till the weekend!!

Happy Birthday

happybirthday

Greetings, everyone!! Well, Spring sort of arrived last week, then went away then came back yesterday…I even spotted some Iris buds peeking out of the bunch of leaves…proof that Spring is (sort of) here!  Today’s card is for this week’s CR84FN colour challenge: grey, cream and bright pink.  Oh, what a yummy combo!  Polka dots and a pink butterfly came to mind at first and then I just played around with the different shades of grey.  I just love layering different shapes together, kind of like putting a 3D vertical puzzle together.  Has Spring arrived at your house?  I hope so and let’s hope it lasts!!  I’ll leave you with the next photo of the house…the boards are off and the sides get tarred tomorrow.  The next step is drainage and services into the house…the framing starts in 2 weeks!!  Cheers!
