Merry and Bright

merrybrightmaureenplut

Good morning!  I’m back with another Festive Friday card…2 Christmas cards down! Woohoo!  I am just drooling over the inspiration photo…

Gold and silver and a bit of red.  I thought gold poinsettias with some silver leaves would be fun!  Taking the photo was a little tricky with my silver button.  I turned one light off and got the above photo.  Here’s the shiny version with all the lights on…

I kind of like the first one, but love the sparkle in real life.  Go figure!  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday PTI!

happybirthdayPTImplut

Greetings friends!  I should be reading and writing papers, but it’s the Papertrey Ink’s anniversary celebration and I can never resist playing along!  The first challenge is to pick a colour combo and sketch…yikes!  I have a hard time doing both…don’t like to be told what to do!  LOL  But I managed to combine both the colours and sketch onto a much needed birthday card.  I am fresh out of birthday cards after taking my cards into work this week.

Thanks for stopping by!  And congrats to Papertrey Ink for 7 wonderful years of inspiration :)  ox

Verve’s February Diva Inspirations Hop

findpeacemaureeplut

Welcome to Verve's February Diva Inspirations Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time! This month we've got a bloomin' good challenge for you along with our usual inspiration! So in addition to a comment prize hidden along the hop, you can play along with the challenge and link up your creation for a chance to win another prize!

Our February challenge is Floral Fantasy:

DIHFeb2014InspCh

I was in need for a few sympathy cards so I picked one of my favourite Verve flowers and kept the colours soft with a pop of pastel.  I’ve used flowers from Great Friend and Joyful Blooms, the leaves from Bloom and Grow, and a sentiment from New Mercies.  To make the background paper, I stamped the flowers in Versamark for a subtle look.  The coral flowers are stamped in Groovy Guava ink onto Groovy Guava paper.  To give the card a little more dimension, I bent the flowers and leaves up.  It’s amazing how much something so quick can add to a card!

Girly, You Rock {Thanks!}

girlyyourockmaureenplut

Hey everyone!  Remember this card from last year?  I made it for one of our Junior Women’s Curling team members on her way to the World’s Championship in Russia.  Fast forward to now and I had good reason to make two more of these fun Curling cards!  Because the Olympics is starting this week and our city is hosting the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship (the Brier), I arranged to have the Rocks '& Rings  Program come to our school to teach the kids about curling :) Yes, I’m mixing business with my pleasure! LOL

This is the floor curling set the kids have been using…

I wanted to thank our local coordinator plus the sweet lady who came and showed our kids all about curling!  We are ready to rock now!  Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by :)

You’re My Hero

myheromaureenplut

Good morning, friends!  Well, Monday is upon us again and today I’m showing you the card I gave to Tony for his birthday yesterday.  It’s actually one I had submitted for publication last year but it didn’t get picked up.  I’m kind of glad as I always need a few masculine cards in the stash for special occasions such as this.  There’s no reference to “birthday” on this one, but he knows it’s his day! HA!  I wanted to remind him that he’s my hero in so many ways.  Now, I wasn’t planning on it, but look at the gift wrap for his present!  Pretty good match, eh?  It’s actually just Christmas paper!  LOL

I kept with the colour scheme and added a red bow :)

So what’s inside?  A very practical gift and one I ran past him before purchasing ;)  It’s a set of wireless headphones that he can use with the TV so I can study and write papers without hearing the TV (I know, it’s my gift too! LOL).  Thanks for visiting!

When Your Heart Speaks

goodnotesmaureenplut

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone!  Well, out here in BC, many of us are Seahawks fans (don’t hate us!).  My brother is a season ticket holder crazy fan and is in NY for the big game today.  I’ll be enjoying it from the couch :)  I had a little fun in the studio yesterday, getting some cards and posts made for the new week.  I was intrigued by Melissa’s Make It Monday video, so thought I’d take a try at it.  She gave me another cool way to use the heart cover plate!  Thanks for stopping by!  It’s also the DH's birthday.  We celebrated last night and are continuing the celebration with breakfast out and yummy Italian Dream cake tonight (that’s the actual cake name, not a pun for my hot Italian husband! LOL).  Have a great day!
