Verve's October Project Parade

Good morning all! I've been looking forward to my quiet weekend in the studio :) Today's card has been floating around in my head for over a week. The theme for this month's Verve Project Parade is encouraging words. I wanted so badly to use this sentiment so I could pair it with my little birdie again :) I also love it because sometimes I am in such awe of so many cardmakers...many of whom honour me by visiting my humble little blog and leaving such encouraging words about my "buttons and bling" :) But this is a Verve Parade and I wanted to somehow use one of the many, many beautiful stamps Julee has designed, so I used her polka dot stamp on the background panel and a very light fleur de lis under the sentiment. Perhaps Julee will see this sentiment and turn it into one of her fabulous stylized stamps!! Then I could use it all the time for Verve challenges!! LOL

For those who frequent my blog, you will notice my new profile pic. The last photo was taken on my honeymoon 2 years ago and my hair was longer as I had to grow it out so I could have an up-do for the wedding. I had my camera savvy 17 year old nephew take some head shots of me at my other nephew's wedding (his brother) last weekend. I needed a good quality photo for the Embellish publication and wanted to be able to recognize myself when I saw my bio! LOL Thanks for the thumbs up about it. He told me he could make me look like J-LO...well, that may be a stretch, but he did manage to get rid of 10 years of wrinkles and some split ends with air brushing!!! HAHA!! Thanks, Luke! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

Well Hello J-LO! I'm loving your new pic, Maureen! Also hope you had a FABULOUS time at the wedding :)
Well what a sentiment this is! So true and so beautiful so it obviously deserves to be featured on a beautiful card! The bird is so adorable too of course!

Fabulous card, Maureen! Love it when you use that little bird and it fits so well with the sentiment. Great use of the BG stamp and the light Fleur de Lis is perfect. Great bow too! You rocked this one!

Noticed the new pic a while back too. Cute cut and coodoes to your nephew for his photography skills :D

Hi Maureen, I'm not going to stay long. I added your blog to my list so I can come back and visit again soon. I have only been blogging since March09, but it's scattered because I am trying to raise this teenager and that comsumes most of my time. I have had several ladies tell me to enjoy him because when I turn around he will be gone (grown). I know it's true because it is happening before my eyes. So I'm trying to do that. I don't go into my craft room nearly as much as I would like to, but things are looking up. Thank you again for sharing. I'll be back! Rae

Always gorgeous (the cards AND you!) I, too, love that sentiment. I'd love to see a stamp from Verve featuring it! Such a great card of encouragement and that adorable cork bird works perfectly again. Great buttons! The bow is PERFECT! Awesome card =)
