Date Weekend is Merry & Bright!!

Good afternoon blog buddies!! Here I am listening to Il Divo's Christmas album and drinking coffee out of my new Starbucks double glass walled mug :) If you don't know, they are having a 12 days of Christmas event (does it seem like everyone is this year?) where they have a different special each day. I lucked out because the mugs were on display with the tumblers, the real special that day. But because the display had the mugs too (someone goofed up) they gave them to me half price. They are really cool because the coffee looks like it's suspended in the mug and the outside doesn't get too hot :) Not that I need more mugs, but I thought eggnog lattes would look very cool in them this season :D Okay, onto today's card for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge. As you know, I'm not making square cards until my Christmas cards are done so this one is rectangular :) I sifted through some winter scraps and this luscious Cosmo Cricket piece was begging me to pick him (is paper masculine or feminine? LOL) I love these colours together. Add kraft in there and it's paper heaven!! The first button ornament panel had the "Merry and Bright" right in the middle but after photographing it, it looked all wrong with the ribbon....hence a second panel was stamped and adhered. I also tried a snowflake border but the apron lace won out. Hey! I almost followed the sketch LOL :) Okay, onto date night...

Here's a photo that my dh, Tony, took of us before we went out last night. He's always been very good at taking pictures of us...I don't know how he does it. We went to one of our school district's fundraising dinners that has a silent auction. I bid on and won 2 items...a huge "Couples" basket full of wine, lotion, and other romantic items and a large cookie plate with a coupon for 11 dozen gourmet cookies from a local bakery!! YUM!! We had so much fun dressing up and seeing many old colleagues of mine. Two of my sisters who live in town were also there. Date night has extended to today...we went out for breakfast at our favourite little cafe and are going to see The Blind Side tonight :) So I'd better end this post now!! LOL Have a wonderful evening :)

Can I love, love, love this one, too? 'Cause I do. Those colors are just fabulous together. And that little accent of green is so perfect. I think I'm just going to stare at this one for a while. :)
