Celebrate Mother

celebratemothertpd
Good morning!  Well, I had a fun weekend making Mother’s Day cards and organizing my purged items for our community garage sale this Sunday.   I was intrigued with this week’s colour palette over on The Play Date Cafe then was a little confused with the colours…Dusk, Magenta and Seedling.  Hmm, seems like Magenta is open to interpretation.  According to the Crayola pencil crayons in my classroom, magenta is like fuchsia so I’ve interpreted that to be autumn rose.  I also took Seedling to mean a mustard yellow.  But in the end, I had fun with my card and that’s the most important part…using some more new paper, silky ribbon and another stamp from my new Birthday Tags set.

Happy Mother’s Day

happymothersday

Good morning!  My woes with Blogger seem to be fixed now that they’ve switched me over to the new interface.  I’ve left it alone so that I can get used to it…my attitude of “embracing change!”  I can still use Live Writer to write my posts, so I’m still a happy camper/stamper!  LOL, I like the rhyme!  Today’s card uses the colourQ palette this week.  I used Groovy Guava for the Coral colour on the small leaves, thinking it was the closest colour I had, but it looks like the pumpkin paper.  Hmm, may PTI’s berry sorbet would work too :)  I’m taking my cards in to work again on Monday and I know Mother’s Day cards will be hot items…so there still may be a few more in the coming weeks :)   Thanks for coming to visit!  Have a fabulous start to your weekend!

Good evening!!  It’s time for a new challenge over on the CASE Study blog!  Sadly, it’s our last week with the amazing, Laurie Schmidlin, but she is going out with a BANG!  (and lucky for me she’s a Verve Diva Sister so I can still hang with her!) Oh, I love everything about this card…the colours, the textures, the stamps, everything!

What’s the 411?

the411

Oh, I love that saying!  I had some fun with my new My Favourite Things stamps this weekend…my new a la mode Girl Talk and Say What set with the OMG sentiment.  I’m using last week’s Wednesday Sketch and some more of that fabulous Cosmo Cricket 23 paper :)  So this post did go live as scheduled, but I’ve been automatically changed over to the new Blogger interface and when I went to view my post, I must have touched something wrong because the whole post disappeared so I had to rewrite this quickly before work! I’ll know better for tomorrow…fingers crossed!  Thanks for visiting, have a wonderful day!

Wishing You…

wishingyou

Good morning!  I’m just sneaking in with a quick card I made over a month ago for my new future bonus daughter in law ;)  With the dh’s crazy work schedule, I had a difficult time getting this to Ashlee.  I didn’t want it to get squished in an envelope, so I just waited until we saw them a couple of weeks ago.  If she’s anything like me, she likes to celebrate her birthday for a good month!!  Actually, her birthday is the day after mine!  Fun!  It was the first card using the new PTI zipper card…very cool!  AND it worked when Ashlee pulled on it :)  I chose the Movers and Shakers sentiment…”a wonderful birthday, just a bit late.”  Okay, see you tomorrow for my Verve Diva Dare post!!  Have a great day :)

Congrats a la Moe-net!

watercolourbutterflies

Good morning!  Well, if Blogger is still having posting problems, this post will go live when I get up!!  LOL  And as you may know, Saturday is my lazy morning day…sleep until 7:00, coffee, blurfing, breakfast, coffee and then my workout :)  I happened to see this week’s Moxie Fab World’s Tuesday Trigger photo while on another blog and couldn’t believe I missed it!!  How fabulous is this dress?

Butterfly Reverie

It’s a work of art!! I was inspired by everything!! LOL  I dug out my old SU water colour crayons and did the wet spray technique…mist your stamp, colour haphazardly over the stamp with water colour crayons and then mist again before stamping on water colour paper.  Voila, butterflies a la Moe and Monet :)  I added some embossing on the raised white panel for a little more texture as well as some shimmery buttons and threaded bows.  Have a lovely Saturday…thanks for visiting :)

Overjoyed for You

joyfulblooms

Good morning!  Happy Friday!!  I usually play along with the Viva La Verve sketch on Friday mornings, but unfortunately didn’t have enough time :(  We did a few little things around the house and last night I was in training for a volunteer position at my church :)  BUT, I have a Verve card to share…one that I made with the brand new stamps from the latest release!  As soon as I saw the new Joyful Blooms, I had to dig out their lovely larger counterparts in the Great Friend set :)  I picked my colours from the “IN” trendy colours out there right now, tangerine, green apple and turquoise.  The flourish circle frame is from the new Small Celebrations set and the sentiment is from the Purely Sentimental set.  You can still buy the new release at a fabulous discount price including the dies!  Check it out HERE in the Verve Store along with the current SALE :)  Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Friday has started out right!

Surprise!

surprise
Good morning!  Well, if today is the same as the last 3 posts, I will have to manually post this when I get up. I seem to be one of the many who is part of a Blogger glitch.  My posts still say “scheduled” in my post list, but do not publish on time (CURSES BLOGGER!).  Anyone else finding this?  I’m still using the old version, not the updated one but still publish my posts through Live Writer.  So now onto today’s card :)  I’ve received a lot of happy mail this week as my online shopping sprees slowly arrive :)  I couldn’t wait to use my new Cosmo Cricket paper that may very well be my new “fav.”  I also got my very first Paper Smooches set and just love the fun fonts :)  So even though this card is inspired by the haute couture Runway Inspiration Challenge photo, it just turned out kind of funky and fun!  I focused on the colours, the gold lame (we called it lam-ay in the 80’s!) and the chevrons.  I have this fun gold wrinkled paper from Michaels and took the opportunity to make another fun Frilly Flower without the matching stamps.
Nanette Lepore Fall 2012 (from style)
So here’s another example of trying out a new challenge!  I so admire the whole Runway Inspiration design team that I know if I hang out there a bit, I’ll learn so much!  Thanks for stopping by :)  One more day until the weekend, woohoo!  Have a fabulous day :)

Love You Forever ~ CASE Study #87

loveyouforever
Good evening!  We’re back this week with another inspiring CASE Study challenge by our talented Muse, Laurie Schmidlin!  I really admire those amazing card makers who can go from gorgeous loaded shabby cards to a more CAS style.  Laurie does this effortlessly!  This week, I was inspired by the colours, especially the pop of red, layout and sentiment of love :)  I am using my new PTI Edgers for the first time and LOVE them already…I think they are going to be keeping good company with the scalloped edgers :)  My those polka dots are loud, aren’t they!! LOL  I couldn’t resist!

What do you see when you look at Laurie’s lovely card?  Show us!  Create a card inspired by this week’s card and then link it up over on the CASE Study challenge blog!  Can’t wait to see it!  Thanks for stopping by!

Fabulous News!

oursouls
Good morning!  Today’s card is for a very special couple :)  My bonus son, Brian, (Tony’s son) and his girlfriend got engaged on Easter weekend and the dh and I are so excited for them!  They make a great couple, sort of like the old man and me :)

I wanted to make a little card for them to commemorate the happy occasion :)  We had dinner with them last week and got to see “the ring” and hear about the preliminary plans for the wedding next summer :)  We warned them that we like to kiss at the clinking of glasses whether it’s our wedding or not!  LOL  I’m using this month’s Sketch for You to Try :)  I wanted to make it bright and cheery with a bit of elegance.  And I couldn’t resist adding 2 small heart pins into the ribbon :) I remember how excited I was when Tony and I were engaged…it felt so good and everyone was so happy for us.  I know Brian and Ashlee feel the same way.  Ain’t love grand?

You’re a Class Act

You're a Class Act

Hello!  Today’s card celebrates another coworker.  I’m sure I’ve mentioned the amazingly dedicated and talented teachers I work with.  Seriously, I am in constant awe and wonder how I ever got into this school (ok, my seniority helped a bit {wink!}). One of these inspiring teachers completed her Masters degree last Spring and is now working part time as a Faculty Advisor for Student Teachers in addition to teaching her class.  Hmm, more reason to start my own Master’s in the next few years.  We had a little heart to heart Friday afternoon before heading home.  She is so modest about her own talent and so encouraging :)  I was thinking of her as I made this card and know that it will find its way onto her desk in the next week or so.  I’m using last week’s My Favourite Things Wednesday Sketch and can’t wait to get my new MFT stamps…come on Canada Post!! LOL  Oh, and I’m using some last pages of the fabulous “vintage/old” October Afternoon Schoolhouse…this was my most favourite pack from them! Have a lovely day :)

Happy Mother’s Day

weloveyou

Good morning!  Well, it’s officially onto Mother’s Day cards!  I’ll need to have a nice little stash to take into work as well as for our Community Garage Sale coming up in 3 weeks.  I’m using this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch.  Ah, no Back in the Saddle this week…have to mix it up now and then ;)  I was just thrilled with last week’s card and so happy it made so many of you smile :)  Wishing you all a wonderful Monday…well, as wonderful as they can be…lol :)

Birthday Wishes and Studio Pics!

birthdaywishes

Good morning!  It was a cold and rainy day yesterday so after running the weekend errands, I hunkered down in the studio to play with some new goodies and organize my buttons and PTI sets…more on that in a bit!  I’ve got a little bit of a school girl crush on the new Retro Sketch Challenge.  School girl in the sense that I’ve been a bit shy and haven’t played much, but I’ve definitely been quietly staring at them and hoping I’ll just take a chance and play more :)  AND their sketch images are FANTABULOUS!

rs7

My new PTI arrived this week via my shipping buddy, Lynn!  Woohoo!  She was able to fit a whole lotta product into one small little box.  I’m putting her name in to PTI as coordinator for new shipping practices {{wink, wink}}!  I couldn’t resist Maile’s new butterfly set and dies…I’m going to have mucho fun with these!  The bottom of the greenish/yellow paper was half thread through the Labels 20 die and then run through the Big Shot.

Okay, so my wonderful dh is back from a long work trip and before he left again he had one must do “Honey-do” job…hang my cubby organizer, magnetic backsplash, and card display (is that 3 jobs? teehee).  I even put the hockey game on for him in the studio :)

IMG_5132

I am so happy with this cubby!! I first saw it on Dawn McVey’s blog and after thinking about what to do with my PTI sets, etc., knew I had to have it!

IMG_5131

It holds a TON of stuff!  ALL my button jars and ALL my PTI sets!!  I’ve finally got them in alphabetical order for quicker access!  The ones up in the top left hand corner are the Christmas ones and the ones on their sides in the second cubby from the bottom right hand corner are my go to sets!  I won’t grow out of this organizer as PTI has changed the way they sell their stamps…I’m still not sure how I feel about that.  The DVD cases are a little clumsier to store, but the stamps feel more secure in them and they all actually fit :)

IMG_5130

The bulletin board over my computer screen is made up of a Pottery Barn magnetic backsplash and just some cork squares from Michaels (with 50% coupon!).  The card display frame to the left of that is one I picked up at Pier 1 a few years ago and had in the old studio in my townhouse.  The floating shelves are from Ikea  (START THE CAR!).  The huge calendar was on my stamping desk as an extra blotter, but I really wanted a big calendar on the wall for DT assignments and my own personal planner.  So there you have it…I’m getting there!  Next is to unpack that Cricut and learn how to use it before it becomes obsolete!  LOL  Thanks so much for visiting and letting me share my little stamping oasis :)  Have a wonderful day :)
