SAF ~ Mix and Match Challenge

celebratingmaureenplut

I was kind of giddy about this Mix and Match challenge by Dawn, my stamping crush.  She’s challenging us to using a colour combo that is out of comfort zone.  AH!!  The WaCCCky (Wild and Crazy Colour Challenge) is back!  I haven’t made one of these cards in a LONG time!  So this is how it works.  I have all the PTI colours in the pink bin (granted, I may need to add a few of the new colours) and pull out 4 colours.  Then I have to make a card using those colours.  NO CHEATING!  If you look at these colours, you can tell I haven’t cheated…HA!

colourchoices

It’s late, and I may not have had my camera on auto to take the PTI swatch book photo, but these are the 4 colours.

swatchbook

I used Dawn’s card for inspiration and love the way it turned out.  Okay, it’s bedtime!  I hope to share a bit more tomorrow…sweet dreams!

Make It Mondays and Wild Card Colour Challenge!

takejoy

EEK!  Hi friends!  I’m screaming because the Papertrey Ink Make It Mondays this week was the perfect catalyst for a new Wild Card Colour Challenge (remember those! ACK!  Check my page HERE).  Erin made up a fun game to determine what should be in our cards this week.  I printed out the form and started filling it in.  However, when I came to the Colour Combinations…I laughed and simply said,”Wild Card Colour Challenge,” (lovingly called the WaCCCky ‘cause you don’t know what wacky combination might come up!).  I pulled 6 different combos and wrote them down.  No cheating!  Then I rolled with my fingers crossed! LOL  Here are the results.

IMG_5538

I didn’t think this would be that difficult, but it took some playing around before the colours worked themselves out.  One confession…the ribbon is actually Lavender Moon…I don’t have Wisteria ribbon (I know! The one ribbon colour I don’t have!) so I used the closest colour I could find…but it’s a total random colour combination so I think I get credit for that! {wink}.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  And like the card says, take joy your day!

Finally, a new Wild Card Colour Challenge!

happybirthday

Happy Hump Day everyone!  I am all caught up on my DT duties and personal cards, so I thought it would be fun to pull some new colours and make another Wild Card Colour Challenge (for those of you new to my blog, see the Wild Card page button above).  I was skimming through the Papertrey Ink forum this week and someone had asked if there was a colour challenge in blogland using PTI colours and my blog was mentioned!!  Though not a “formal” challenge, pulling your own colour combination is super fun and really gets the old dendrites working :)  Oh, I have missed this personal challenge.  Here’s what was pulled last night…

wacccky27 IMG_4535

As you can see from my card, I am not done with my Modern Woodgrain stamp set AT ALL!!  I was also itching to get out the Newsprint set again…just love stamping it to make a quick background.  I also got to cut into my new Damask paper :)  Thanks for enabling, Lynn!!  In a rut this week?  How ‘bout use my colours!!  Let me know if you do, I’d love to visit your blog and see your take on it!  Have a lovely day :)

I was totally inspired by the colours…I picked up this gorgeous deep coral grosgrain/silk ribbon last week and it is just delicious!!  This really is Dawn’s birthday card too………because……I am one of the lucky 200 who get to go to PTI’s Stamp-a-faire next month!!  I get to meet Dawn herself and personally hand deliver this card (with a little treat from Canada).  ACK!!  My second card is also inspired by the colours and is my way of celebrating going to this event with my dear blog buddy, Lynn :)  She is playing hostess, tour guide, shopping buddy and chauffeur when I arrive in OH!!  Thanks, Lynn!!  Will YOU be there?  Can’t wait to meet you!!  Have a great day and I’ll see you on the HOP and in OH next month :)

Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop ~ Flowers

 feltloopyflower

Good morning!!  Well, it’s the 25th and that usually means I’m joining in the PTI Blog Hop fun.  This month’s challenge was perfect timing.  I’ve been experimenting with a few new (to me anyways!) ways to create flowers.  First up is this loopy felt flower.  These fun little babies are SOOOO fast to make…seriously, two minutes and that includes a coffee break!  I was playing along with a colour challenge last week and came across the tutorial link HERE…I also got to play with some new PTI goodies that hadn’t seen ink yet…Dawn’s newsprint background and the Mat 3 stamp and die :)  It’s a little crazy with all the different patterns, but after the initial shock, I think it’s a cheery little card :)  Up next is another flower made with the Hello, Friend stamp set and the Friendly Flower die. (it’s also using the colours from the latest WaCCCky – Wild Card Colour Challenge!)  It wouldn’t be a PTI blog hop without one!! IMHO…HA!

makeawishflower

I stamped 4 die cut flowers with one of the flower image in summer sun yellow.  Then I cut the petals a bit more, scrunched them all up and sewed them together with the button and twine.  Ah, another button card…told you I’m addicted!!  Thanks for visiting and I can’t wait to hop along later after work.  Your sweet comments make me smile :D

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

fathersdaybloghop
Good morning!!  Welcome to my April Papertrey Ink blog post!  This month we’re celebrating the Boys and Men in our lives.   If you’ve been following the latest Papertrey Ink Release, you will remember Nichole’s amazing Mother’s Day card using an old picture.  I just had to replicate it for Father’s Day.  Yep, that’s yours truly at about age 2!  I even have bells on my shoes! LOL  This photo was actually a colour photo but I photo edited it with a “sepia” look.  I had to change up the elements from Nichole’s card so they would be a bit more masculine…the cork star, and dotted background and the leaf and berry circle image.  Notice the date?  I don’t have the addition set of dates for the Library Ledger Series (and I don’t think the new one goes back to this date! LOL) so I thought I’d just add this year’s date…now here’s how I got “2011…”  I carefully cut up the year 2001.  I cut off the “01” at the end and stamped the “1” twice at the end! EEK!! I had to!!  I love using old photos…here’s my Father’s Day card from last year…
iheartdad
The next card is inspired by the latest Wild Card Colour Challenge.  They were “masculine” colours so I thought they’d be perfect for another Father’s Day card…the dotted label frame and bit of ribbon under the star are actually Forest Foliage/Pinefeather respectively…just difficult to photograph as they are a deep deep green.  The star is made out of chipboard using 2 of the PTI star dies and then inked with SU chocolate chip ink.

PTI Blog Hop ~ Sensational Scallops

loveliveshere
Yippee!!! TGIF friends!! What a great day it’s going to be…a little romantic getaway with the dh, a professional day at work, an afternoon appointment with my massage therapist AND a fun blog hop with PTI!!  Okay, onto the cards because as you know, I can never just do “one” project ;)  This month’s theme is “Sensational Scallops” so I’ve tried to use them in different ways on my cards…this first on uses a scalloped frame using my nestabilties and my OLD chipboard coasters that are coming back into style!! I’m so glad I kept them! LOL  I’ve also added a scalloped border punch on the tag and the lace trim has scallops too.  Next up is  the next installment of the Wild Card Colour Challenge…since it was created for a PTI blog hop, I thought it would be fun to include another Wild and Random colour combination (picked, once again, by my son, Jake, who was visiting at the time :)  You can probably pick out the scallops here…flower and border :)  hehe…

Up last is a card using a circle punch to make the scallops…yes, I’ve got a little tag obsession going on and PTI is NOT helping it! LOL  Well, that’s it for me…thanks for popping by and have a great Friday!! Yippeee!!

You Make Me Smile ~ PTI Make It Monday

justbecause

Good late evening, friends…a quick little post about my second card for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Go To Sentiments challenge.  I must be so into this concept because I had a card published last month in CARDS using this same technique…(see the card at the end of this post).  I also wanted to use the next Wild Card Colours (see HERE for the way I sometimes choose colours!) I pulled a week ago…

wacccky21 IMG_2712

I only used SIX different sets this time…lol (and 4 dies!)!!  I just love the new tag die and have used it so many times :)  It’s just the right size for cards :)  Okay, I’m off to bed, thanks for stopping by :)  Sweet dreams :)

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

myhome
Good morning friends and Papertrey Ink fans :)  It’s the 25th so it must be the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!!  Today’s post is all about Stamping News Years Resolutions….resolutions to use those yet to be inked stamps or dust off an old set to use again.   I was sooooo excited about this as I have a growing pile of new stamp sets just begging to be used…first up is the wonderful Love Lives Here set with dies.  Oh, I love Melissa Phillips and just HAD to have this set :)  How adorable are those little cut out hearts on this house and all the dies in this set?  I loaded on all the sweet little bits in an homage to Melissa :)  Next up is Dawn McVey’s Love Birds set.  I HAD to have this set and dies as well!! LOL
lovebirds Feeling a bit nervous about how to use this set for the first time, I went through Dawn’s release week posts and found THIS CARD to help inspire my own (scroll down to the 4th card).  I loved stamping the cage onto some fine linen…I think it really stands out :)  Last up is a card inspired by the latest WaCCCky (Wild Card Colour Challenge).   It uses the Mat Stack 2 Collection and Mega Mixed Messages.  Now, I use this last set a lot, but have never inked the Feel Better stamp…so here it is…

Okay, that’s all from me…this was so fun and I wonder how high everyone else’s stack of uninked stamps is!!  Thanks for visiting and see you on the Hop!!
