You Warm My Heart

warmmyheart

Good morning!!  After spending yesterday morning with my family, I got to spend the rest of the day in the studio!!  I wanted to make sure I participated in Mercy’s LAST Tuesday sketch challenge.  I have sooooo enjoyed them each week and will definitely miss her creativity :)  Thanks, Mercy!!!  Now that Christmas cards are officially done, I’m moving on to some of my new PTI goodies :)  Isn’t that little steam heart adorable?  The cup is cut from Hawaiian Shores felt and was meant to go home with my friend, Melisa, but must have gotten stuck on something while she packed up :)  I will make you a new one, Melisa!!  One more day of this year…I hope you’ll stop by tomorrow for my one and only Happy New Year card :)  I’m hoping to deliver it today to its recipient :)  lol  Thanks for stopping by :)

One Word: Joy

joy

Good morning!!! Do you ever get that really giddy feeling when you’re making a card and everything is falling into place and you just love what is forming in front of you?  That’s what happened this morning making this card.  Though card making makes me happy in general (except when the mojo fails to show up or the patterned paper takes over and goes crazy!), sometimes I have the feeling of total bliss when putting things together.  This card uses Mercy’s fabulous Tuesday Sketch and is custom made for my son’s girlfriend, Joyce, who by the way was named as such so she would have Joy in her life.  How beautiful is that?  No other stamp than this Verve “Joy” came to mind…simple and elegant :)  Some more rustic bells (Aimes…that’s 108 left!), a super glittery star and seam binding ribbon, oh my!!! And some more of that gorgeous My Mind’s Eye paper that my friend Melisa gave me :)  I also finally got to use the Very Vintage labels No. 10 set from Waltzing Mouse :)  So Moe really likey :)  What is giving you joy today?  Smiles and hugs and joy to you all :)

More Joy to the World

joytotheworld

Good morning!!!  Two more work days and this happy girl will be off for two weeks to enjoy time with family and friends over the Christmas holidays!!  Today’s card uses Mercy’s Tuesday sketch :)  I saved this lovely button wreath from a card last year…something happened to the card base, so I salvaged the wreath, hoping to find a card to put it on…and last night I finally found it!!  This card is going to another sweet work colleague.  I really do love my new staff :)  Have a great Thursday.  It’s my turn at the concert tonight!!! Our dress rehearsal yesterday was great so I’m sure the actual show performance will be wonderful too :)  Have a great day :)

Season’s Greetings

seasonsgreetings

Good evening!! Another late night post before bed ;)  I’ve continued to be busy with my sister’s gift cards and I just have one more night of them before I mail them off on Friday.  Then I need to start my own!! LOL  Tonight’s card is for Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch this week.  I switched the top square panel for this lovely ornament.  I’m still not too sure about this paper…I love the colours in this pad, but they just don’t always seem right to me…maybe I’m trying too hard!!  Or maybe it’s just too late to be up!!  Sweet dreams and have a wonderful Thursday :)

She's Back!!

Yay!!! It was "snow wonderful" to bring out Ms Snowbunny Bella tonight. Not only do I love her, I am inspired by how warm she looks in her pink parka and fashionable Sorels (winter boots!). I am trying to stay just as warm, although I don't look as hip as Bella LOL. Tonight's card is for Mercy's Tuesday sketch. I had to elongate the top panel to fit little Ms Bella, but I don't think anyone will mind :) Have a lovely evening and thanks for stopping by...
(p.s. I had a terrible time uploading these photos...kept getting "server rejected" notes. Blogger Help(less) suggested switching back to the old editor, which worked, but is very cumbersome. Anyone else have this problem? What did you do?)

Celebrate the Season

Hi everyone!!  Well, yesterday we were "celebrating today," the last day of no snow...now, today, we are "celebrating the season," the season of snow and winter.  We got our first official snowfall of the season last night, although, by midday, all will be melted.  That's usually how it works where I live :)  As winter progesses, though, we will get lots of snow that stays.  So today's card, using Mercy's Tuesday Sketch, celebrates the season :)  I had the SU tree on my mind again, sans buttons as it's winter, and all the buttons have fallen off! LOL  However, I wanted the whole tree this time, not just the part that fits in the oval.  After stamping the image out onto cream cardstock, I started cutting it with my snips, but stopped quickly as the branches are so thin.  I actually finished cutting it with my exacto knife...first time using it with an image and was pleased with how it turned out.  (btw, keep your blades sharp!)  I also had purple and brown on the brain and, of course, snowflakes :)  Lots going on with this, but I think (I hope!) it works.  Hope you have something to celebrate today...leave me a comment and let me know!! Thanks for visiting :)

Merry Christmas to You

Good morning sweet friends.  It's Remembrance Day here in Canada so I have the day off.  We had a fabulous assembly at work yesterday honouring the men and women who have and still are serving in the military.  It was so lovely to see a sea of poppies in the gym; each student was wearing one over his/her heart.  Today's card is for Mercy's Tuesday sketch.  I didn't really realize what I was getting into choosing this colourful paper.  I love colour, but this is almost too much for even me!! LOL  I will try to KISS (keep it simple, silly!) next time LOL ;)  I had another card in my head, but thought I should get back on the program and make a Christmas card.  I will keep that card on file in the old noggin' and maybe it will come out this weekend.  Have a wonderful day :)

Thursday greeting, friends :)  Today's card uses some more of my new goodies...first, some more of my new Verve stamps from the Autumn release, the new nesties labels 14 AND the new Basicgrey Pyrus paper :)  I just love all the Autumn colours on this one and how that beautiful sentiment looks on that new nestie shape :)  This card uses Mercy's Tuesday Sketch and also helps her celebrate Verve Day Thursday...lol...her weekly homage to Verve stamps :)  Here's celebrating with you, Mercy!!  My first session of Parent/Teacher interviews went really well and I'm expecting the same for tonight :)  Have a wonderful day!!

'Tis the Season

Good morning!!! If I seem a little psycho lately, switching back and forth between the seasons, I apologize!! LOL  But you have caught me in between stamp purchases!! LOL  I just got my new PTI goodies on Monday and had to spend last night playing with my new Vintage Ornament dies and stamps :)  Today's card uses Mercy's wonderful Tuesday sketch.  I love how you can really dress up the simple panels she's given us :)  Thanks, Mercy!!  I originally had some new PTI Pinefeather ribbon on this, but the green was so dark I didn't think it would turn up in the photos...so I switched it out for some New Leaf :)  Love the nontraditional colours here...I think they work :)  The week is zipping by just like I thought it would...tomorrow we head out to a local Pumpkin Patch...always a fun field trip :)  Have a fun day!!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

TGIF!!! The most wonderful time of the week!!  It's a Professional Development day for our whole province and I am attending a big conference here in town.  Then I'm off to dinner and a movie with a good friend. We will finally see The Social Network :)  What a fascinating story :)  Anyways, today's card is for the lovely Mercy's Tuesday Sketch challenge.  I had forgotten what I had originally wanted to do with this sketch...lol.  I got busy pulling some fun Jolly By Golly paper from last year and mixing it with some Mitten Weather from this year.  The snowflakes are a bit shiny because they have Heidi Swapp ghost snowflakes on them :)  I had originally put a flourish over top of the sentiment, but it was WAY too busy and was bugging me so I restamped the sentiment panel, leaving only the sentiment.  Like this WAY better.  The original card is below just so you can compare (and agree! lol)  Well, I have 4 Christmas cards made this week!! LOL  They will probably go to my sister's stores as they are a little fancier than what I will mass produce for my own use :)  Hope your weekend has had a great start :)  Thanks for stopping by and sharing a few moments with me :)

Every One of My Thoughts Today

TGIF!!!! Well, it's Friday and instead of making gift cards last night, I was inspired to make this card.  One of my dear blog friends is needing some hugs and prayers this week so I wanted to make this card for her to let her know I'm thinking of her :)  I still have Fall colours on the brain and was tempted to use a pop of turquoise like yesterday's card, but raspberry fizz kept popping into my head...so I went with it.  She likes polka dots and buttons, so I think she'll like it...PLUS she knows I love my pink and bling, so it's a little of both of us in this card :)  The fabulous sketch is from Mercy for her Tuesday Sketch Challenge...there are A LOT of panels!!!  LOL  Hope the start to your weekend is a great one...I put in my PTI October Release order last night and am having it shipped to Canada (I can't wait!!LOL).  But I ordered so much, I'm getting the shipping discount! LOL  It will be an early Christmas here in the studio :)  Thanks for visiting :)

Wishing You the Best Day Ever

TGIF, dear friends!!  Ah, those lazy summer days when everyday was Friday are a distant memory now :)  However, with the move to a new school and grade, I am reenergized in my career and enjoying all the busy moments :)  I eeked out a few minutes this week to play along with one of my favourite sketch challenges by Mercy .  At first I had a different sentiment panel, but it took up too much room and I was dying to use my new PTI tag die...so here is the finished product.  It's a card for my new principal who is celebrating her birthday next week.  She is such a dear and a great team builder :)  Okay, so today after work, my dh is whisking me away on a romantic little getaway...I can't wait :)  Hope you have something fun to look forward to as well :)  Thanks for visiting and for all your sweet comments...they mean so much :D

A Grateful Heart

Good morning!!  Though Fall is not my favourite season, I do LOVE Thanksgiving and all the talk around being "thankful" and "grateful."  Though I feel this way all year long, I do like the extra use of thankful sentiments with the rich colours of Fall.  I was flipping through my patterned paper pads (ah, more alliteration!!) and found this adorable leaf paper in my Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg to use with Mercy's sketch this week .  How sweet are those little leaves?  So I started with the paper and chose the other elements from there.  My favourite orange plaid paper snuck its way onto another card (LOL) and I added a cute leaf sticker from Jolee's Boutique (on clearance at Michaels...score!!).  I took a break from the button trees (hmm, they may be back soon, though...lol) and chose one of my favourite Verve sentiments.  I say "one" because I have a "million." :D  The brown circle has been embossed to add some texture, but you need to click on the photo to get a better look.  So at the moment, I'm grateful for making this card during another busy week and for Friday tomorrow :)  What are you grateful for today?  Okay, up tomorrow...a new WaCCCky!!! ....with another special studio guest drawer!!!!!  Come back and visit!!! Hugs and smiles,

Thank You

Ahh..... thanks for popping in and joining me for my first Saturday of the school year :D  It is a sunny morning here in B.C. and I'm enjoying a coffee in my jammies :)  Then onto house stuff... today's card was made over 2 nights as this little stamper has been tired and even her studio couldn't keep her awake.  I just LOVE Mercy's sketch this week (do I say that every week? LOL).  Three panels always make me think...oh, use up some fabulous patterned paper scraps!!  I am right into the Autumn colours now and love SU's Pumpkin Pie...my favourite orange :)  It is stunning with almost any colour so I may have to add it to my list of "neutrals,"  right beside PTI's Berry Sorbet.  How do you like that wooden leaf button?  I picked it up at the LSS on my solo road trip in August...they were expensive and came in a pack of 6...but I couldn't resist!!  I have loved the cards out there I've seen with buttons for leaves on trees and thought I'd try out my own...a great way to use up the mountain of buttons I have somehow collected over the last 2 years!! LOL  The sentiment is from Verve's newest release...Dream Big.  I hope you are having a great start to your weekend...I want to get onto the house work so I can get a few cards made :)  Thanks for stopping by and your comments really brighten my day :)

Reposting Thanks for Your Kindness

Edit:  I'm reposting this card as Blogger would not show my comment box...hopefully this works :)  Thanks for viewing again!!

Good morning!!! Ah, finally a card came together, albeit over 2 days :)  I had prepped the paper and sketch Tuesday night and finished up last night with the details.  I just loved Mercy's sketch this week and knew I had to make a card with it...one of the too few challenges I'll get to this week.  I wanted to use some Verve stamps too and then thought I would make this card do double duty for the current Verve Project Parade...Something Old, Something New.  Now this may sound like the wedding saying (....lol, I joke that the bride was "something old" at my wedding!!), but it just means to use one of your newest Verve sets with one of your old, old ones :)  One of my first sets was Thankful Blossoms and I got it by winning a Verve gift certificate...I was on a roll way back when :) The new set I'm using is Dream Big from the latest Anni-Verve-sary release.  I used the blossom stamps like this on one of the cards I made for the release and liked it so much I wanted to do it again on this card.  It's just stamping the ink off twice before applying the stamp onto the paper for a very subtle look.  I'm using some new fall paper and the very last of my digital library cards...I now have the stamp of it :)  I'm thinking this may eventually be a thank you card for my new librarian :)  Fall is not my favourite season, but I sure do love its rich colours :)  Hope you are having a glorious day...my son is in town and coming to school with me today to help set up...he's in charge of cleaning the math tubs and putting up my model solar system...lol.  AND because he's old and can drive, he'll be in charge of the Starbucks run in the afternoon!! LOL  Thanks for stopping by...

Verve Release Party Tonight!!! (and some Blog Candy!!)

Good morning everyone!!!! Ah, there are no more official Verve Sneak Peeks...but here is a peek at the Plain Jane :)  I just love the plain jane stamps...fabulous verses and you only have to order one (or ten) at a time!!  I haven't been using any sketches or challenges this week...just free stylin' it...so I thought it would be fun to use Mercy's sketch :)  Now I know you may be thinking, "Hey, there's no ribbon at the top of this sketch!! LOL  Well, I used an embossing folder on the card base and there's a little line that needed to be covered up...LOL  Don't tell me you've never done that!!  Oh, and I broke open some delicious Memory Box paper I picked up at Impress in Bellevue last weekend :)  It is soooo yummy...I've made another card with it for the Release tonight...
This next card is a complete 180 from all the pink and frills.  I wanted to show how Verve stamps are perfect for masculine cards too :)  As many of my regular followers know, my son Jake is my "Greatest Joy," so this card was made with him in mind :)
Here's a picture of us last weekend in Bellevue :)  He starts his last year of his undergrad degree in Engineering this September but will come home in a week and a bit for another quick visit :)  He likes to help me set up my classroom for the new year...how sweet is that?
Okay, ready for some BLOG CANDYAs I was working out Wednesday, I came up with a super fun idea...how about put all the cards I posted this week for the Verve Release Week Spotlights into one Blog Candy prize?!!?  I really wanted to celebrate this amazing honour, hanging out with the Divas and Julee and being a part of this fabulous  Anni-VERVE-sary release.  As well, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who have been so supportive and sweet with your comments and well wishes :D  So what do you think?  ALL the cards I've posted this week including today's cards AND a $25.00 Verve Gift Certificate to help with that long shopping list!!! LOL  Now, I do have to make some adjustments to a couple of the projects...I will include one of the treat bags minus the chocolate bar (would melt in the heat of the mail) and will include a little notebook, but it will be a new, almost identical one (I've already started using mine, so can't include the original).  Yes, the first card with my wedding photo will be included...you can always take my photo off and add your own or just use as a sample :) Oh, and I will make another card for Jake, so I will include today's Great Joy card :)  Here are the deets in order to win all 13 cards and projects plus $25 worth of Verve Bucks:

1)  Leave a comment here on this post by Friday, August 27th @ midnight (PST) ,telling me what you enjoyed most about this Verve Release...

2) Become a follower if you haven't already....if you are not on Blogger, just say you are a Typepadder...tell me you'll visit often ;)

3) Winner will be posted on Saturday, August 28th and must contact me within 5 days with their mailing address  and email for the Vere GC (I will send it anywhere in the world!!)...

Lastly, are you ready to PARRRR-TTAAYYYYY?  I'll be there with bells on so stop by and say hi.  Click HERE for the Splitcoast Forum....
