Merry Christmas ~ Get Your Diva On!

merrychristmasgydo

Good morning!!  Have you seen the new just released stamps and dies from Verve?  Check out all the new products over in the Verve Store!  Then, head over to the Verve Forum for the newest Get Your Diva On Challenge.  Diva Teresa is challenging us to be inspired by this gorgeous festive photo…if THIS doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit, nothing will!!  LOL  I was making this card for the new release and then realized it was perfect for the GYDO challenge.  I added a music paper poinsettia (notice I used Joy to the World music!) and some fun little jingle bells.  But the sweetest thing is that little “joy” tag!!  I got the Stampin’ Up antique tags awhile ago and was dying to use them.  BUT I had to find a word small enough for it!! Enter Small Phrases to the rescue.  The “joy” is from the stamp “bundle of joy.”  LOL  I just inked up the last word and said a little prayer it would stamp perfectly…and it did!! woohoo!!  So are you ready to get your Diva on?!  Can’t wait to see your take on it!!

Sip and Savor

gydooctober

Good morning!! And Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!!  I love holiday Mondays!!  Today is the start of a new Get Your Diva On challenge over on the Verve Forum!!  The uber talented Diva Andrea is hosting this week and is challenging us to create some Handmade Happiness!!  Incorporate a home made embellishment on your card or project! Could be knitted, crocheted, of paper or fabric origin, painted, etc... As long as there is one element on the project (haha...besides the project itself!) that is handmade...you're in!  For my handmade embellishment, I created a gorgeous rolled rose with my MFT die and some PTI felt.  Then I made the leaf sprigs with my Verve Leafy Sprigs die and matching stamp.  I’m also calling that doily handmade as I die cut that as well along with cleaning out the die holes afterwards (still a lot of work, but still love it!). I also chose this sentiment as I thought this would be the perfect card to tuck a little Starbucks card into and give as a little thank you to someone special :) Okay, head over to the Verve Forum for the official details and join along!! You have until next Sunday night :)  Good luck!!

A True Love Story Never Ends

lovestorygydosept
Good morning!! Well, I survived the first short week back to work, let’s see how I do with the first full week!! Check back Friday…lol.  Today’s lovely card is for this month’s Get Your Diva On over on the Verve Forum.  Create a project using this month’s challenge and you could be an upcoming Verve Guest Diva!!  Wahoooo!!  This month, Diva Sankari is challenging us to create a monochromatic card or project.  I knew right away I wanted to make a wedding/anniversary card with various shades of white/cream/sand.  When using a monochromatic palette, I find you have to create texture to add dimension and interest.  I think I’ve done that!! LOL  I’ve loaded on the doily, lace, twine, pins, dove, gems, button, border punch, stitching, felt heart…you name it, I’ve got it on this one little card!!  Definitely a bubble envelope or glassine bag type of card!!  I paired a 4th AnniVERVEsary stamp, Love Story, with the latest 5th AnniVERVEsary curvy bookplate frame and matching die…a match made in heaven!!  Have a glorious day and I do hope you’ll play with this month’s Get Your Diva On!!  Hugs!! (p.s. this card also fits the criteria for the Bring Back Beautiful challenge over on the Flourishes blog).

Anni-Verve-sary Spotlight ~ Day 5

tagtimeday5A

Welcome to Day 5 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops!  Hop along with the Divas all week long as we share our first looks at a few of the new products releasing from Verve on Friday night (eek! Tomorrow!)!  Today’s set is Tag Time!! Wowza!! Who doesn’t love a sweet little tag?  PLUS 3 dies to go with the set, two of which I’m sharing with you today :)

My tag and gift bag were inspired by the sweet little mini card set I teased you with on Tuesday.  If I WERE going to give (because I might keep them myself to give to coworkers or my dh) this set to someone, I would package them up in this mini kraft bag that’s been spruced up a bit :)  I took my colour scheme from the papers used on the card, layered some of the new tags…including the Mini Me version of the Sweet Scallop Die (suh-WEET!) to create the perfect little gift ensemble :)  Here’s a close up…as you can see, I’m starting to mix and match the stamp sets…oh, yeah! Love to do that!

tagcloseupday5

Up next is the card I made for this month’s Get Your Diva On challenge, which is ON right now!?  Have you entered yet for the chance to be an upcoming Verve Guest Diva?  Diva Jackie’s challenge this month is “Tag, You’re It!”  I’ve used the Tag Time graph paper tag stamp with the coordinating die and layered it onto a journal tag.  The leaves are from Sunny Day (Day 1 Spotlight) and the sentiment is from last month’s release…New Mercies

GYDOAug2011

Guess what?!  One lucky commenter from today's hop will win the set and dies featured today, so be sure and leave a little love in the Divasphere! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize details and deadlines for the whole week. Thanks for stopping by…you know what tomorrow is!!!

Get Your Diva On (and some more house pix!)

gydosunshine

Good morning, everyone!!  I’ve been super busy this weekend, writing reports (they’re D-O-N-E!) and picking out things for the new house…more on that later.  It’s the second Monday of the month, so that means the new Get Your Diva On challenge begins :)  Submit a project over on the forum and YOU could be the next Verve Guest  Diva!!  How exciting would THAT be!?  The theme this month is SUMMER, ahh, long days, warm sun, blue skies…my favourite season next to Spring :)  I had blue and yellow on my mind for this one…and this sentiment from Feel the Sun.  “Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own SUNSHINE.”  How wonderful is that quote?  Well, I will see a lot of sunshine from the new house…oh, how do you like that segue?  Here’s the house from in the middle of the street on Friday afternoon.

IMG_3495

Here’s looking into the great room (living room).  There will be a 14 foot vaulted ceiling and then the dining room is next to it with the French doors (you can seeing the opening for the doors).IMG_3492

This next one is the kitchen.  You can see the French doors on the right, then the kitchen window where the dh does the dishes {wink, wink!}. You can also see a bit of the stairwell to the basement :)IMG_3494

So it’s coming along quickly.  Everyone said this stage would go quickly.  Then everything slows down when they work on the inside.  Now they’ll start putting on the top floor :)  Hope all is well with you!! Have a fabulous day and thanks for visiting :)  Come back tomorrow for my Passion for Papertrey post!!

Bloom and Grow

bloomandgrowgydomay

Good Monday morning, friends!!  It’s a new week and a new Get Your Diva On challenge over on the Verve Forum at Splitcoast.  Play along and you have the chance to be the next Verve Guest Diva!!  The theme this month is “Material Girl”  and the challenge is to use fabric on your creation.  I have just received this gorgeous fabric from Stampin’ Up! along with these sweet fabric roses.  I made the frame by gluing the fabric to a piece of chipboard and cutting it with a Labels 5 die.  Then I ran it through again with an oval die.  I had to run it through 2 or 3 times for a clean cut.  I added some more balsa wood stamped leaves and a beautiful sentiment from Bloom and Grow.  I hadn’t used this stamp yet and just love the font on that “bloom.”  This card is going to one of my colleagues that just finished her Masters in Education.  I think she will love it :)  Have a great day…thanks for popping by!  Now head over to the Verve Forum and see how YOU could be the next Guest Diva!!

Verve New Release Spotlight ~ Day One

aprilwhatsshaking

Hey blog friends and Verve fans!!  What’s shakin’?  LOL  It's time to shine our sneaky Verve spotlight on some brand new stamps! We're counting down to Verve's release party this Friday night, April 15, with FOUR days of Spotlight Hops! And since we love to share, there's a prize hidden on one of today's hop spots! Just leave a little shout-out in the comments as you hop about for a chance to win some new Verve of your very own! You can check out the Verve Blog for all the prize details and deadlines.

How adorable is this little bunny shakin’ what his momma gave him?  As everyone must know by now, I’m the non-colouring Diva (HA!) and paper piecing is my way around it.  I thought it would be fun to paper piece our little “wabbit” with some fabulous Basicgrey papers.  My husband likes this one because when I showed it to him, I shook my hips 3 times!! LOL  The white pompom tails are from my pompom trim I HAD to have 2 years ago but never used much…lol  Up next is my Get Your Diva Card…yes, you’ve seen something very similar posted on the GYDO thread yesterday…can you figure it out?

gydoday1

Yes, the sentiment…this is the original card but then I realized the GYDO challenge started on Monday so I would be sneak peeking a little too soon.  So I used the old switcheroo! HA!  This sentiment is from Birthday Phrases, one of 3 little phrase sets that fit perfectly onto the Charming Oval and Charming Label Dies.  Okay, onto some more delicious eye candy…here’s the list and see you tomorrow!!

Get Your Diva On!

St. Pat’s fact: Veneration (honouring him as a saint) of Patrick was apparent in the eighth century AD. At this time Patrick's status of national apostle was made independently of Rome; he was claimed locally as a saint before the practice of canonisation was introduced by the Vatican.

gydomar

Hey everyone!! It’s the second Monday of the month which means the next Verve Get Your Diva On challenge is up over on the SCS VERVE forum!!  The prize is fabulous… be the next Verve Guest Diva for the next release!  Sah-weet!!  Spring is my favourite season and the theme for this month’s fun challenge from Tosh

Use all neutrals: white, ivory, gray, black, or brown, with a splash of colour to represent the arrival of Spring.

Ah, music to my ears…this was a joy to make…everything around town here is pretty brown and yellow…the snow is slowly melting but we’re left with a lot of those yucky dirty, crunchy snow piles.  But in a month or so, those little green buds will appear everywhere :)  I’ve used a Verve thank you sentiment that was a little gift in one of my recent purchases and the cream circle panel has been stamped with my favourite Verve text background.  Are you ready to get YOUR Diva on?  Check out all the details over on the FORUM and then start creating :)  Have a wonderful Monday!!
