So Very Loved ~ Curtain Call Inspiration

Hello everyone!  It's the first of the month so there's a new challenge up and ready to go over on the  Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge.  This time we’re inspired by this photo…

My inspiration might be a bit more difficult to see this time...especially with the colours!  It's the DH's birthday tomorrow and I wanted to include some "Camo" on his card.  I always tease that I can't see him when he's dress in his camouflage gear.  I made the camo paper with some wrapping paper I have.  The bright red xoxo is a nod to hunting and to make sure he can see it!  My stamps and dies were from my recent Reverse Confetti purchase.  They have seen lots of use this week :)

Happy Birthday ~ Curtain Call Inspiration

Hello everyone! Welcome back! It's the first Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge of the year!  This time we’re inspired by this photo…

I was inspired by all those sparkly icicles standing out from a neutral background.  I am also trying to make 2 cards at a time because my stash is REALLY REALLY shamefully low at the moment. Here's the second version in purple!

Feel Better ~ Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

feelbetter

Good morning!  There’s a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge up and this time we’re inspired by this photo…

foxy

This really was a challenge for me!  I have NO fox images in my stamp stash…can you believe it?!  The Curtain Call team tried to help out saying I could focus on the cup image or use any cute little critter.  I loved these ideas and dug out my PTI Cuppa Love die that I had never used! Yikes!  I poured over all my patterned paper, hoping to find a fox image, but nothing.  The last place I looked was in my new Simon Says Stamp card kit.  I turned over a piece of patterned paper and there he was!  Little Mr. Fox!  Score!  The papers match perfectly with this packet of tea that I love when I lose my voice.  I will tuck one into this card and save it for the next coworker who loses his/her voice!

The Sky’s the Limit ~ Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge #3

theskysmaureenplut

Good morning!  There’s a fun new inspiration challenge over on the Curtain Call Inspiration Blog!  Our generous sponsor this week, Fawn Lawn, sent each of the DT a fun set to play with.  I chose Blue Skies because of this big, beautiful hot air balloon.  I knew I had to find a special card for the fabulous wispy cloud paper from the Maggie Holmes collection.  Find it I did!  I am also using some pretty floral paper from the same pad to paper piece the fun little banner, ‘cause y’all know I don’t colour! LOL  Here’s our new inspiration board.  I focused on the colours and the black and white images of the sign and bicycle.

Thinking of You

thinkingofyou

Hi everyone!!  Well, we are back safe and sound and a little more refreshed from when we left on Friday.  We were at the Sparkling Hills Resort about 1.5 hours away from here.  It’s a new facility owned by Gernot Langes-Swarovski from Austria and has 3.5 million Swarovski crystal elements throughout the resort’s design.  Check out more details with my link :)  And now onto today’s card.  It’s for Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour Challenge this week.  I was so tempted to make a Fall card, but the nasty weather we’ve been having put a stop to that.  I  picked up these sweet little kraft bags after seeing Dawn' McVey’s adorable card using one of them.  Here’s what the little bookmark looks like…it was made with Verve’s Sweet Scallop Die (which is still on sale until the end of the month…tomorrow!) and a quote from Verve’s Blue Skies set.

So on our little weekend getaway, we made a quick trip into the bigger city just next door and I did a “little” paper and ribbon therapy ;)  We also bought all our appliances for the new house we are starting to build this year!! (not at the LSS, but at an appliance store! LOL).  So it was a VERY productive trip all round.  Enjoy the last bit of the weekend.  Report card writing starts this week, so my posts will be a little scattered.  I’ll leave you with the pile of treats I came home with ;)

Sunshine and Smiles #2

sunshineandsmiles2

Hi everyone!!  Well, I’m back safe and sound from my out of town teaching conference.  It was fabulous and I can’t wait to try something I learned in my class this week :)  I’ve tried switching gears now to card making and thought I would ease into it with a card for Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour Challenge.  Stacey is throwing us some fabulous bright colours and I just love them.  I’ve been on a white card base kick lately.  I just love the crisp, clean look of it.  This card is also my second card in the Sunshine and Smiles series, a set of cards for a colleague who always uses “Sunshine and Smiles” with her signature :)  Well, that’s about it for me…off to do some household things before getting back to the studio.  Thanks for stopping by today :)

Just for You

justforyou

Good afternoon, everyone!  I’ve had a little time in the studio today.  We were out enjoying the warm, sunny day looking at some ideas for the new house :)  Today’s card uses Stacey’s colour combination for the Curtain Call Colour challenge this week.  I am loving the mix of white with cream and real red with cranberry (oops, I mean cherry cobbler! lol).  I was so happy to pull out my little order form again and make a little note page panel.  I’m also using the new-to-me Just for You set from Verve.  It fits the embossed oval die perfectly :)  I hope you’ve had a great weekend.  Come back bright and early tomorrow for the first Verve Get Your Diva On challenge over on the Splitcoast Forum…it’s gonna be fun!!

I Lift Up My Eyes

fromtheLord

Good morning, sweet friends :)  Today’s card is a little bittersweet for me.  Though I loved making it, it is for a dear former colleague who is going through a very difficult time.  I wanted to make her a special card and send her healing wishes.  She has great faith and is a very strong person but I just need to let her know I’m thinking about her.  I knew that I wanted to use a Verve Scripture verse and this one fit perfectly.  I’m using Stacey’s newest Curtain Call Colours from her colour challenge this week :)  I thought this Basicgrey Olivia paper matched the colours so well :)  I hope you’ve all had a fabulous start to your week.  Thanks so much for visiting…I appreciate the time you take to come and take a peek and to comment :)  Hugs!

Be Strong and Take Heart

bestrong

Good evening!  It was a bright, sunny albeit COLD today today…the perfect kind to be by a warm window in a cozy studio :)  Once dinner went into the slow cooker, I dove into some card making, making good use of the fabulous daylight.  Today’s card is for Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour Challenge.  I needed some more sympathy cards and love using Verve’s Scripture Plain Janes for the them.  This is my newest one :)  Eek!! It’s almost February…this month sure felt long, didn’t it?  Hope your weekend went well.  I was drooling at all the CHA posts over on the Moxie Fab blog…so fun!  One day I’ll get there…it’s on my bucket list :)  Hugs and sweet dreams…

Love is the Flower

loveistheflower

Good morning!! Well the week is half over and I love the way it is flying by so that the weekend arrives soon :)  Today’s card features 3 different Verve stamp sets and one of the newest dies.  The colours come from Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour Challenge this week.  At first I didn’t think all those lovely reds and pinks would be a problem, but there are 4 of them to juggle and make look like they belong together.  When in doubt, use the colours in your embellishments!! LOL  I hope you’ll come back tomorrow for my debut Diva Dare challenge :)  I’m wrapping things up over on the Verve Blog bright and early :)  Be sure to check out Amber’s post today and have a wonderful Wednesday :)

Celebrate

celebrate

Good afternoon friends!!  Well, this card makes me want to celebrate!! Celebrate the fact that I’m joining in Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour challenge this week AND celebrate the fact that I didn’t chicken out with mostly white and only hints of the other colours :)  HA!!  I actually told myself not to “wimp out and go BOLD or go home.”  (Which is kind of funny since I’m already home! teehee).  I did allow myself to use my favourite card sketch for a little ease and comfort :)   Some of you may think that I handle bold colours well…thank you for your confidence in me!!  Truth be told, I LOVE bold colours when I get to choose them, but feel breathless when they are given to me.  It’s something that I really want to get better at…hence, I’m participating in Stacey’s challenge.  I tried many different coloured ribbons on this card, but the only perfect ribbon was my new black and white gingham from Pizzazz Aplenty.  I just love the homespun feel of it :)  Well, that it’s for me this afternoon…I’m off to Michaels and Starbucks and then back to the Studio :)  Hope your Sunday is going well too :)  See you tomorrow with a card for Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch :)  Thanks for popping by!!

Blue Skies Are Coming Your Way

  blue2

Ahhh, one more day and it’s TGIF!!  Today’s card wasn’t going to happen.  When I saw Stacey’s Curtain Call colours for this week, I thought I would gracefully bow out, but then the “challenge” part got to me.  Hmmm…working with 2 blues always throws me off.  I am sooooo glad I was the December Guest Designer!! LOL  So I sat on it for a few days and then started playing around with some paper.  Here’s what I came up with.  I have been waiting to ink up this new PTI Mat Stack one stamp set for over a month and thought this would be the perfect time to do it.  I need a few more Get Well cards, so I looked through my Verve binders and found this perfect little gem from the set Blue Skies :)  Come back tomorrow as I show my sample for the new Viva La Verve challenge which starts tomorrow on the SCS forum :)  Have a fantastic day!!

Nature Gives Every Season

everyseason

Good morning!! Happy Boxing Day to my fellow Canadians!!  It’s the Canadian equivalent to Black Friday in the States, not for the faint of heart shoppers :)  Today’s card is my last one as Guest Designer over on Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour Challenge.  It was so much fun to play with Stacey and the girls…they are true gems and were so sweet and encouraging to me all month and even before when I entered the weekly challenges.  I  really hope you can eek out a few moments to play with us this week :)  When I saw these colours, I just swooned!!! I love this colour combo.  I knew I wanted to use this snowflake cardstock somehow.  It’s been adhered to the blue card base and really stands on its own.  The green silk ribbon was purchased this summer and was just so delicious to tie.  Another one of Grandpa’s buttons was tied with silver cording and I added a few more beads to my Dritz pins before sticking them into the ribbon :)  This sentiment was from the Verve Fall Release, but I think it works for any season!!  Although I don’t like the cold of the season, the snow is beautiful :) The Curtain Call Crew has samples to show you today, too, so make sure you stop by to see:

Christina MacLaren at Seaglass & Sentiments

Jean Martin at Stampin' Scrapper

Julie Lacey at Stamps & Taxes

Laurel Seabrook at Seabrook Designs

Makiko Jones at MakInk Studio

 Monika Davis at M.A.D. Stamper

Piali Biswas at Touch of Creation

 Silke Ledlow at My Life

…then play along with us and post your Curtain Call Color Challenge creation using Mr. Linky back at Stacey's Stamping Stage.

Okay, I’m back later with my PTI blog hop so come back a little later for some recycled fun!!  Once again, a huge and heartfelt thank you to Stacey for giving me this fun opportunity :)  Hugs to you and the crew!!
