Happy Birthday

Hello, friends!  Today's card was for the DH on his birthday last Saturday.  I used the same layout as my card for a recent Make it Monday but turned it into a masculine birthday card, complete with camo letters (created with camo wrapping paper!), a silver frame and a diamond plate embossing folder.  I added some safety red baking twine so you can see the card!  LOL I also made a regular birthday card...

And here they are altogether and ready for me to enter them into PTI's Transformation Tuesday.

It was such a great card layout from Michelle's Make it Monday video . Thanks for stopping by!

Sending Birthday Cheer #2

Hello!  I made this card inspired by the Sending Birthday Cheer card for PTI's Create Along with Us last week.  I needed a masculine card for my son's upcoming birthday tomorrow so I used kraft and leaf die cuts.  Here are the 2 cards together.  I am entering them in PTI's Transformation Tuesday challenge.  Thanks for visiting :)

Happiest Birthday Wishes ~ Curtain Call Inspiration

Hello everyone! It's time for a new challenge over on the  Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge.  This time we’re inspired by this photo…

It seems I've been going back and forth between Christmas and Fall cards lately...kind of like the weather we've had here in BC...cold, warm, SNOW, melting snow, falling leaves....repeat! HA!  Acorns are so cool and sweet...I chose this darling acorn paper to make my son's birthday card.  The woodsy vibe and simple layout lend themselves well to a masculine card. Head over to the Curtain Call blog for more inspiration and then join in the fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Spreading Light ~ Curtain Call Inspiration Reminder

Hello everyone!  Just a friendly reminder that there's still time to play along with the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge "Surf's Up."

I had an extra lighthouse and some water coloured pieces left from my first card for this challenge so whipped together a second card...I love when I can use up lovely scraps!  Head over to the Curtain Call blog for more inspiration and then join in the fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday ~ Curtain Call Inspiration

Hello everyone! It's time for a new challenge over on the  Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge.  This time we’re inspired by this photo…

The surf boards made me think of waves which made me think of PTI's Waves Coverplate.  I watered colourd some paper using 3 different blue Zig markers then cut out it out with the coverplate.  Then I cut another one out of white card stock and placed some watercoloured ones back in the white one.  My favourite part of this card? Guess!  Those birds! HA!  Seriously, everytime I stamp them, they just kick up the card a notch.  Cool :)

When I am with You

TGIF everyone!  My how the weeks are flying by!  I've been slipping down to the studio in the evenings this week as I have a couple of special cards to make for February.  First up is the card I made for the DH's birthday next Tuesday, Groundhog Day!  I picked out some patterned paper that could be classified as masculine and kept the layout simple.  The sentiment panel needed a little something on the right so I dug through my wooden embellishments and found the perfect heart :)  Feeling like some shopping therapy this weekend?  Head over to the Verve Store to see the current Love Sale and some new sequins!  Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday, everyone!  I’m the hostess over on the Viva La Verve blog so head over there for all the details on how you could win a whole lotta Verve this month by playing along with our sketches!

VLVNov15Week4Sketch

This card should have arrived at my son’s place by today.  You see, it’s his birthday tomorrow so I mailed it on Monday to make sure it arrived in time for his special day.  When I went to make this card, I had the idea of a whole bunch of starts in different sizes and papers stacked on top of each other.  I even threw on some tiny wood stars!  And as I usually do for Jake’s birthday post, here are a few photos :)  Have a great day!

Adjust our Sails ~ Background Check, Day 6

directthewindmaureenplut

I’m back with another card made with mixing several colours in embossing paste.  I love the variations in the blue that make it look like a stormy sea.  Here’s the background which was very difficult to get a clear photo of…it’s like my little camera didn’t know where to focus!

Celebrate ~ Online Card Class, Day 6

I’m back with the card I made for the embossing paste background.  I thought PTI’s new Guiding Light set was perfect to create this lighthouse.  I had a gold “celebrate” on my work space so added that as well!  Thanks for stopping by!  Next up is another nautical themed card :)

Happy Birthday CASE

happybirthdayCASEmaureenplut

Hello friends!  Happy Groundhog Day!  And happy birthday to the love of my life…

IMG_5285

I needed a masculine CAS card for this handsome and handy husband so I went straight over to Laura Bassen’s website, Doublestick Heaven.  That’s where I found this totally fabulous card!  Find Laura’s card HERE.

Winni & Walter-In a Word: Love

I just love the joyful colours and CAS design.  My versamark was not cooperating with the white embossing powder so I redid the sentiment with SU’s white craft ink and then the white embossing powder.  Much better!

I’m all for an early Spring, how about you?  Have a great week :)

Happy Birthday, Jake!

happymaureenplut

Hi friends!  Just a quick post to celebrate Friday (!) and my son’s 26th birthday :)  Clean and simple and masculine…inspired by Maile Belle’s card HERE.  It’s funny how over the years there are so many things I’ve forgotten, but not the day Jake was born or the moment I held him for the first time. Here’s one with day old Jake :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Belated Thanksgiving wishes to all my American friends!  I hope you are still celebrating with some good sales shopping :)

You’re My Hero

myheromaureenplut

Good morning, friends!  Well, Monday is upon us again and today I’m showing you the card I gave to Tony for his birthday yesterday.  It’s actually one I had submitted for publication last year but it didn’t get picked up.  I’m kind of glad as I always need a few masculine cards in the stash for special occasions such as this.  There’s no reference to “birthday” on this one, but he knows it’s his day! HA!  I wanted to remind him that he’s my hero in so many ways.  Now, I wasn’t planning on it, but look at the gift wrap for his present!  Pretty good match, eh?  It’s actually just Christmas paper!  LOL

I kept with the colour scheme and added a red bow :)

So what’s inside?  A very practical gift and one I ran past him before purchasing ;)  It’s a set of wireless headphones that he can use with the TV so I can study and write papers without hearing the TV (I know, it’s my gift too! LOL).  Thanks for visiting!

Enjoy the Ride, Jake!

jakebirthdaymaureenplut

Hey everyone!  Thanks for stopping by as I wish my baby a Happy 25th Birthday!  Yep, he’s a quarter of a century old!  YIKES! What does that make me!? LOL  Masculine cards are tricky, but I think I did okay.  Some stars, some sharp points, embossed diamond plate and a nautical ship’s wheel!  All says “boy!”  I love using this No. ____ years stamp from Papertrey Ink’s Movers and Shakers Sentiments.  You can personalize birthday or anniversary cards so easily!  Here’s a repeat of some of my favourite mom and Jake photos :)
