People Who Make Us Happy

Good afternoon!!!  ACK!!!  I've been AWOL these past few days not by choice.  My computer screen went black Friday night and would not boot up...worst nightmare, right?  Luckily it was just some viruses and my great computer shop was able to fix it no prob...except that they are closed on the weekend (and it was a LOOONNNGGG weekend! lol).  But nothing was lost and it's running faster now so Moe is a happy camper :)  So this card for the 8th installment of the Wild Card Colour Challenge has been sitting on my desk for a few days.  My dear friend, Melisa, was over for a visit last Tuesday so I had her pull the next colours...LOVE them!!!  I wanted so badly to use this Verve flower image...I just love how whimsical it is and it's easy to cut out!! Ha!  Ahh, berry sorbet...many of you may know by now that I consider this a neutral!!! LOL  Really, it's the best pink ev-ah!!
After Melisa pulled the colours, I told her she had to make a card with them and I would post it here on the blog and call her my "Guest Designer!"  She was so wonderful to play along :)  I just love the colours against kraft and that yummy grosgrain ribbon :)  Circles and pearls and dots, oh my!!! Thanks, Melisa!!!    Hope you are all having a wonderful week...so glad to be back :)

Mon Amie!

Good afternoon, mes amies!!  Today's card includes some new paper that I picked up on my little day road trip to a city nearby that has a cute little Scrapbooking Store, Ever After (more on this later in the post!! hehe).  I love this week's Card Positioning Systems sketch.  It really gives you the freedom to dress it up or keep it clean and simple.  I chose to keep it fairly simple and let this fabulous Crate Paper dp take center stage.  I'm also using another fun little sentiment from my latest Waltzing Mouse order.  It's a little more elegant and classy than the rest of the card, but I like to mix up styles...that's all part of the fun, eh?  I love stamp sets that include little flourishes.  That way you can dress up a sentiment panel when there's too much white space left.  I added 2 little green gems for good measure and because I like my bling!! LOL
Okay, here are the spoils of my road trip...well some of them (LOL, hehehe).  Various paper from all different companies....some of the Basic Grey notepaper series and a couple of 12x12 sheets from my favourite Basic Grey Kioshi pad.
How do you like that pile o' ribbon?  LOL  I had to load up on their fabulous 5/8ths twill in teal (I'm almost out from my first batch!) and pink, some luscious sheer and satin ribbon :)  Also found some gemstones in light aqua...only had dark aqua...I know, how do I survive?  LOL...some Basic Grey fabric brads (from the Kioshi and Indian Summer series), wood buttons, a new Cuttlebug Scrollwork folder, and that Webster's blossom trim that's all over the place.  I don't know what I'll do with it, but it's so gorgeous and soft I couldn't resist :)
And on my way back home, I stopped at my favourite shoe store and picked up a cute pair for work.  I spend most of the day on my feet, so these are just the ticket and I can run in them if any one of my kids bolts!! LOL  Okay, that's it!!!  What are your favourite things you've treated yourself to lately?  Would love to hear what you're loving right now :)

The People Who Make Us Happy

Hi everyone!!!  Today's post is a quick one before I head out for a little day road trip.  I feel the need to look at shoes and new paper and maybe treat myself :)  I thought I would post the cards I made last June for my coworkers who were leaving our school.  The woman in charge of our Sunshine Fund asked if I would make the cards this year as mine were better than store bought (how sweet!!).  I had to make three....and then, guess what?  I got my transfer!!! LOL  I received the store bought card!!!  Isn't that funny?  So the coworker who gave my little going away speech had to make a point of saying that I wasn't going to get a beautiful handmade card and even wrote this in my card," I will not sign this ugly card!"  LOL  It was so funny...LOL   I don't mind commissioned cards, but I do feel the pressure of getting them done and that they are well received.  And they were... I had to be careful not to put too many thick embellishments on as they were going to be handled by about 35 staff members signing them....thank goodness for twine!!
I had to make one masculine card and am pleased with how it turned out.  The chocolate panel has been embossed with the PTI woodgrain press...hard to see here.
Okay, I'm out of here!!!  I'll let you know how the shoes and paper quest goes :)  Hope you are all having a wonderful week.  Thanks so much for dropping by :)

Reflect on Your Present Blessings ~ Wild Card Colour Challenge #7

If you are looking for the Verve Anniversary Blog Hop,

Good morning!!  Today's card uses the 7th Wild Card Colour Challenge...yikes!!!  I must say I almost didn't participate in my own challenge.  Really...this is not a go-to colour combo for me...so I really had to mull it around in my brain.  I was also tempted to have it mostly white with only hints of these colours, but that wouldn't be a challenge.  The first 3 colours are fine as they are jewel toned, but the red...YIKES!  So I went for the old butterfly standby...lol.  The next challenge is a great one and was drawn by my good friend, Melisa, when she was over for tea lattes and card chit chat last night...thanks, Melisa...watch for that in the next week :)  Have a fun day!!

Hi blog friends!!!  I love this week's Mojo Monday sketch AND it's contest week when Julee has some Verve stamps up for grabs :)  With all those wondeful panels, I thought of my big DCWV paper pack I bought at Chapters on my anniversary.  It is lovingly sitting with my October Afternoon packs on my computer desk, my right hand papers this summer :)  These sparkly butterflies reminded me of the butterfly in the Blue Skies set.  I wanted to use a sentiment that conveyed what I'm feeling today...after all the excitement last week of being given the Verve Guest Diva honour.  I want to treasure this time and enjoy it.  I'm so lucky to be off from work this time so I can really concentrate on this time and the weeks to come :)  I also got to use my new pinking circles...I bought them because I thought they would be great to use as a sun if ever the need came up...or as an award...many possibilities.  Thanks for stopping by!!!

Good afternoon!!  Todays' card is for the first Viva La Verve August sketch challenge.  Amber has us going through inspiration photos for Master Bedrooms this month.  I couldn't resist this fabulous bedding!!! YIKES!!  Ahhh, remember those button bouquets from last year?  Only if you've been with me for a year...I was a little (read "really") obsessed with them last year and thought this would be a great place to revive them :)
Okay, now for some exciting news!!!  Julee at Verve Stamps has asked me to be the Guest Diva (along with Sony Christoph) this month for their Anniversary Celebration!  This is a thrilling honour for me and I just wanted to thank everyone...from all my friends who've encourged me this year to the Divas and of course, Julee, for giving me this amazing opportunity :)  Really, I am still up on cloud 9!!
And the last thing I want to share is this fabulous card my good friend, Melisa, made for me last September after I got my first cards published.  I had to laugh at the time, thinking this day could never come...but here we are...I told Melisa that she must've put a sweet spell on me with this card :)  Okay...that's all for today...have a wonderful evening and if you haven't checked it out yet, Verve is having a blog hop until Wednesday and there are a whole lotta fabulous stamps to win!!!  Click here for the deets.  Thanks for stopping by!!!

Happy 3rd Anniversary, Verve!!

Welcome to the Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop! Verve turns three today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! If you've already been hopping along, you arrived here from Andrea's blog. If not, head on over to Julee's Blog (owner of Verve), for all the info on how to win prizes (after all, what's a party without presents?), and to start hopping from the beginning. If there's a hiccup along the hop, you can always head to the Master Hop List to get the full list of links.  My first card is to wish Julee a "very happy Anniversary!" I really wanted to use that little notebook page and was stuck on a sentiment when I thought, hey...it's an Anniversary...duh!!  And I added some "bling" because I got some "bling" on my third anniversary this year too!! LOL
This second card was an experiment in making my own background paper from 2 similar stamps.  I used the same technique on Julee's birthday card, but had actually made this one first.  I just love these colours and how the butterflies look...unless you knew (because I just told you...) you can't really tell they're butterflies at first glance.
And because I love to do 3 cards in my blog hops (and am off for the summer so have lots of time!! LOL) I wanted to use a hot air balloon with this blue skies sentiment.  This card has lots of layers!!! Even the dh said, "Wow, there's lots on that one!"

Thanks for hopping by! Now it's time to hop on over to Verve Diva Laurie S.’s blog, for a little more Verve-y goodness.
