Verve Sneak Peek ~ Day 3

Good morning!!! Today we are talking about cupcakes....they're not just for breakfast anymore...hehe.... Today is Day 3 of the Anni-Verve-sary Release and we are looking at Carpe Cupcake and Birthday Bash.  

I literally laughed out loud when I saw this sentiment and then the title of the set :)  I love witty puns and am always teaching my students ones like this whenever they come up in class.  And who wouldn't want to seize (and eat) the cupcake? Now many of you may know that I'm don't colour much on my cards.  BUT....I've been known to paper piece, the perfect alternative to colouring :)   I stamped the cupcake twice, once on brown patterned paper and once on pink glitter paper.  Then I popped everything up on foam adhesive and added sprinkles (pearls) for fun :)  With this next card, I inked a sentiment from Birthday Bash with Versamark to create a border around the card.  I wanted a cute & fun look, so I opted for some fun polka dots and a hot pink ribbon...I like the way it kind of clashes against the red patterned paper.  The cake has been paper pieced and I added pearls as icing dots this time (the lines of icing that hopefully stick to the knife so you can eat with your finger!! YUM!!)

Verve Sneak Peek ~ Day 2

Hello friends!!!  What did you think about all the fabulous samples yesterday with Love Story?  Well hold on to your keyboards, because it just gets better...Today we are peeking at 2 new Anni-VERVE-sary sets Framed Wishes and Fabulous You.  They both have a frame stamp with similar flourishes, but one has more of an Asian feel to it.... 

I picked up some of this luscious Webster's Bloomers trim and paper on my solo road trip last week.  I just love the black and cream and pop of teal...yummy :)  This trim is easier to work with than I thought when I first saw it in blogland.  This sentiment is also in this set...I love the mix of fonts :)

This second card uses the frame in Fabulous You and one of the sets' many sentiments.  It was hard to chose one so I settled on one that makes me think of the Divas :)  What I love about this set is that there are a couple of different corner flourishes that can be used anywhere...I've used them on the inner corners of the frame...can you tell?  I can't!!! LOL...they look like they are part of the frame!!! You could even ink them in a different colour...so cool :)

Verve Stamps Sneak Peek ~ Day 1

Good morning!!!  It is with great pleasure that I share a little sneak peek of a new Verve set available this Friday after the Release Party.  Julee has gone all out this time and I'm sooooo excited to help her and the Divas celebrate Verve's 3rd Anni-VERVE-sary as Guest Diva with Sony Christoph. It really has been a dream come true :)  Julee has created something extremely special with her company, not just fabulous stamps, but a fabulous community as well :)  This was the first card I made for the release.

It was not hard to come up with inspiration for a Love Story {insert heart here...lol}.  With our wedding still fresh in memory...and on a CD disk...I printed out one of our professional wedding photos.  I got the idea of printing out photos for cards from Kristina Werner.  She did one of her and her dad for Father's Day last year and I thought it was so unique and personal.  It could be a photo of anyone for any occassion :)  I just love this curly frame...it's perfect for this sentiment and for the many others in this set :)

Fun is Good!! Wild Card Colour Challenge #9

Good afternoon!!! Forgive the 2 posts today, but I am starting Verve Sneak Peeks tomorrow and wanted to get this card in before the sketch deadline.  I am out of the studio this weekend...we are in the States helping my brother celebrate  his 50th birthday.  He loves to entertain so you can be sure it will be a fun, fun time.  No, this isn't his birthday card...haha, although giving him this girly card would be funny!!! LOL  No, I opted for a funny "age" card.  I also thought it would be funny to give him 50 cans of Lucky beer (one of the cheapest beers you can buy in Canada and my brother is a beer connoisseur), but I don't think I would be allowed to take it across the border!!  As usual, I was little nervous about the latest WaCCCky combination...but ideas started coming to me and I started throwing paper and ribbon down on the desk :)  I flipped through my Verve binder, looking for a stamp to fit in a circle.  I haven't used this "Fun is Good" so thought it was the perfect time to do so.  I believe this is Susan Liles contribution to the Beautiful You set (see her write up on it here).  I had one more cream library card and thought it would make a great panel layer.  The top of it was a little too blank, so I searched for a smaller Verve sentiment...ahhh, Eureka on finding this little birthday one in Big Wish...{insert BIG smile here!}.  It's stamped in Going Gray and I love the way it matches the lines on the library card...you still focus on the main sentiment, but the Happy Birthday is very much felt :)  Oh, and yes, this sketch looks a lot like today's earlier post, but it is actually for the latest Card Positioning Systems sketch.   We are picking up my son on our way to WA, yup, he's joining us for the weekend {insert even BIGGER smile here!!}.  Hope you have a fabulous weekend too and I'll take some pics to share :)  REMEMBER....Verve sneaky peeks tomorrow!!!! Good morning!!! Birthday Wishes

Hi blog friends!!!  Today's post should really be called, "The One that Got Away on Me."  I had a Fun & Cute style of card in my head and everything was ready to go until I got sidetracked with this seam binding ribbon...then all of a sudden things got crazy and POOF...pearls came out, vintage labels, tea dye...the result?  A vintage card.  I will blame it on the paper...I really wanted to use some more October Afternoon paper and thought it would make a fabulous fun and cute card...but it had a mind of its own.  Not that I'm too disappointed...I really love this ribbon and those little pearls...I'm just a little shocked at the power that paper had over my card!!! LOL  Has this ever happened to you?  Oh, and before I keep rambling, I made this card for Mercy's Sketch this week.  I really love the panels.  Okay, onto something I'm discovering and thinking about.  Have you read the latest copy of Paper Crafts...the one on card styles?  You really need to get it...it's fabulous.  It really explores the different styles of cards out there right now.  It even has a little quiz you can take to find out what style you are.  I came out tied with "Fun & Cute" and "Classy and Elegant."  BUT  I'm a wanna-be Vintage/Shabby Chic.  I guess that's why sometimes something comes over me and I try to create a vintage card...like today.  What style are you?  I think we all have a little of all of them in us...but what do you love to make or even admire?  Thanks for stopping by...prepare for a  Fun & Cute one tomorrow...I was very strong and got it made :)  LOL

Use Whatever Talent You Possess

Good morning!!! Oh, how it feels good to be up and blogging again.  I know it was only a few days, but I really felt it...especially because I was not on a holiday, I was at home looking at the empty corner where the computer was...I know, hard life!!!  Today's card is for the current Embellish Colour Challenge.  I love the rich colours this time round and the challenge requirement of birds ~ any reason to bring out the SU two step bird punch :D  I have made other cards with this sketch and use it again today because I love it...the tag, the twine, the staples...love it :)  I'm also using a sentiment that I love to use with bird images.  I typed it out in Word and printed it onto cardstock.  I just love what it means.  It encourages us to do what we love, no matter if we are the best, or "hot," or in the "spotlight."  I stamp for the joy it brings me and have been trying not to put the focus on prizes or praises...although, both are nice {wink}, but not the main motivation for my cardmaking.  This card makes me smile and I hope has brought a smile to your face this lovely August morning :)  Thanks for sharing a few moments with me :)
