Season of Love & Peace

Good morning!! This week is going to be another busy one...staff meeting today, Remembrance Day assembly on Wednesday and of course, report card writing in between all the daily activities :)  The big push will be next weekend, but I like to get everything in order before then.  Today's card uses Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch this week.  I knew I wanted to use white and aqua and this fabulous sparkly star, but the rest of the card came together by playing around with different elements. The star is from MemrieMare on Etsy, where I get most of my seam binding ribbon, but really, you could make them yourselves.  They are die cut from cereal boxes (love that she reuses things!) and just covered with glitter (I'm guessing something like Martha Stewart glitter).  But when I saw them all glittery and sparkly, I had to have some :)  The white used on the card is shimmer white from Papertrey :) Hope you have a lovely day :)

Who You Really Are

Well, it's a sunny day here, not a good day at all for starting report card comments!! LOL  I've made a to do list today and finishing this card for Stacey's Curtain Call Colour Challenge was on it :)  I had started making a different card last night, but it just didn't finish the way I wanted it to.  I had paper all over the place mixing and matching and going crazy...lol.  Then I saw my Wild Card card from last week and loved the layout so much that I decided that was a good place to restart.  Hmm, black and brown on a card can be tricky...here's what I did...brown stitching, brown embossed circle on doily and brown button; black polka dotted paper, black ink on sentiment, black and white bakers twine in the button.  Definitely a bold card, not for the faint of heart!! LOL  Okay, I'm off to start those report comments :)  I'm also in charge of staff meeting treats for tomorrow...hehe...homemade ginger sparkle cookies and Costco trail mix :D  YUM!!  Thanks so much for visiting....smiles!!

Thanks a Latte

Good morning dear friends!!  Today's card uses this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  It's the first Monday sketch of the month, so Julee has some Verve stamps up for grabs.  Julee happens to be the inspiration for this card today.  She recently acquired a fancy, super deluxe espresso machine and is now in coffee heaven :)  I immediately thought of this takeout coffee cup I picked up in Bellevue this summer.  It reminded me of the Starbucks cups (and for those of you who don't know me, I met my husband there 5 years ago!!).  I also used some beautiful script patterned paper that reminds me of the tissue paper Starbucks uses to pack their mugs when you buy them :)  The kraft panel behind the cup is crimped like the cup sleeves, but hard to see in the picture.  A little twine, twill, bling and coffee bean button and this sweet card is making me need a coffee!!  Hope you have a lovely day.  I'm slowly starting report cards this weekend, but the big push will be next weekend.  Thanks so much for visiting :)

To Hold Friends and Family Near

Hello!!! Today's Wild Card Colour Challenge #15 card was lots of fun to make :)  I got to use my new PTI Big and Bold Holiday Wishes and some sparkly snowflakes :)  The colours were pretty sweet this week so I was glad to have a dark colour to ground those sugary hues :)  LOL I will remember to label Smokey Shadow in white next time...it shows up better if the picture is bigger.  The week is flying by as I predicted.  We have parent/teacher inteviews today and tomorrow starting in the afternoons, so the next 3 days will fly by as well.  Thanks for visiting and hey, try out these colours or try pulling your own...it's so (scary, er...) fun!! Bravo, Jackie!!

Good morning!!! Well, I'm happy to report that my little munchkins were calm and peaceful yesterday :)  It really was a lovely Monday...and you know I rarely say that!! LOL  Today's card was made a few weeks ago for an October Viva La Verve challenge, but I didn't post the card here...so now I am :)  It was a fun challenge that week.  In honour of Verve Diva Jackie Pedro becoming the newest Dirty Dozen member on Splitcoast, Amber challenged us to pick a card from Jackie's gallery and CASE her :)  I kind of knew which card I wanted to use...Jackie made this fabulous card last winter.  I was taken by her mix of patterned paper and how she made the rolling hills with some of my favourite paper from last year :)  I opted for an end of summer/beginning of fall card, mixing some fun SU paper from last year.  This was so much fun...Jackie is the royal Queen of mixing patterned paper!!!  Hope you have a great Tuesday...thanks for stopping by :)

Happy Harvest

I was so determined to use this fabulous pumpkin stamp from Verve's latest Fall Release...but as I started paper piecing it, I got WAAAAYY over my head!! LOL  So I decided to watercolour it :)  I stamped the image onto watercolour paper with Versafine Onyx (my goto black ink), then applied the ink with my aquapen. Notice too that I took my purple and black ink pads and sponged a bit on to add a worn look to the panel.  I also wanted so much to use some of this gorgeous Halloween ribbon that I first saw on Ann's blog before jumping into the car and heading to Michaels to buy my own :)  So who do you send a "Happy Harvest" card to?  Well, I have the perfect people for this card...the lovely couple who owns the farm and pumpking patch where I took my class last week.  They are the sweetest :)  I always have the kids write a little thankyou note so I thought this could be my note to them :)  They definitely have a harvest!! LOL  I'm using Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch as the big oval was perfect for the pumpkin stamp.  The only tricky thing was the layering of the background papers...I had all my orange, green and purple paper out and it was driving me crazy!! LOL  I had to make sure the paper didn't upstage that ribbon!!! Hola!!! LOVE IT!!  Before I go, I wanted to share a picture of our pumpkin last night.  It's the pumpkin I got at the farm last week.  Tony carved it Saturday night ready for Sunday :)  And because we were going to make our little pumpkin sick (too much candy!), Tony added some sad eyes to him....isn't it sweet?  LOL  Have a great day...I'm off to see if my class is super tired or super hyper!! LOL
