Christmas is Love

christmasislove

Hi friends!!! Today’s card is my next Guest Designer card for Stacey’s Curtain Call Colour challenge this week :)  When I saw the 2 greens, I thought of my pti Christmas tree die :) I used some SU Christmas designer paper from a few years ago.  I love the subtle texture of the image on it.  Then I thought of my favourite go-to sketch :)   I knew I would be using it at least once this month!! LOL  I added silver cording to the button ornaments to add some glitter and spruce up the tree along with the ‘buttons and bling’  hehehe.  This little sentiment is from the SU set Contempo Christmas and is one of the reasons I bought the set (along with its fabulous ornament stamp!).  I hope you’ll come over and check out the challenge this week…make a Christmas card and you’ll have one more made!!

The Curtain Call Crew has samples to show you today, too, so make sure you stop by to see:

Okay, one last thing to show you before I sign off.  I was at our Chapters Bookstore last week and picked up this fun little white board for my computer desk.  I use too many sticky notes and thought it would put an end to that.  It comes with a little magnet as well, so I hung a tag on it as it’s hard to see. My to-do list is much longer, but you get the idea :)  Isn’t it adorable?  Hmm, these two things are done so I can put a check beside them now!!  Have a lovely Sunday!!

Mwah!

mwah
Good morning!! It’s been a busy but fun week at work…the kids are so sweet.  One thing I missed about teaching the younger primary students is their excitement around Christmas.  Today’s card is my entry for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.  It’s contest week so Julee, owner of Verve Stamps, has some Verve prizes to be won.  I toyed around with a few ideas and then this one popped into my head.  It’s official, this is Tony’s card!!! LOL  I so wanted to use Snowbunny Bella standing under the mistletoe, but she was on  his card last year, so I went with a bold mistletoe image from Waltzing Mouse.  I typed up the sentiment in Word and printed it onto kraft cardstock.  I stamped “kisses xo” with two stamps from the same Waltzing Mouse stamp set onto the kraft panel.  Then some lips!!! No, they are not mine!! LOL  I’ve had this stamp for about 20 years!!  I added the “Mwah!” from the WM set…boy, I really got a lot out of that set!! lol  I had to keep the frills down being a card for the dh.  I think he’ll love it…I’ll add “forever”  on the inside :)  I actually have a very realistic ball of artificial mistletoe that I hang over the front door every year…needless to say, there is a lot of kissing going on there at Christmas!! LOL  I changed the sketch a little to fit my plan…I know the Mojo Ladies won’t mind as it’s about having fun and making what you love…and I do love my dear husband :)  One more week and I pick him up from the airport…mistletoe or no mistletoe, he’s getting lots of kisses there!! LOL  Have a great weekend…come back tomorrow for my Curtain Call Guest Designer card!! Hugs and “kisses too!”

Joy to You

joytoyou

Good evening!! Whew! It’s been a busy day!! Up at 5:00 to get ready for work and the annual Toys for Kids breakfast.  So much fun and you should’ve seen the Christmas Tree!! Actually, you couldn’t because it was hidden underneath all the donated toys!!!  It was magical once again.  So I’m a little tired :)  But nothing that a little eggnog latte after work wouldn’t fix :)  I was up at our Chapters Bookstore getting a few gifts and couldn’t resist a little pick me up :)  Then I got home and had 2 emails from CARDS magazine…they were late with their card calls this month so I have to get the cards ready to send away tonight so I can mail them tomorrow.  BUT I had to make this card first.  I so wanted to join Winter and Ann in their final Everything but the Kitchen Sink challenge.  They have had a wonderful and inspiring year, but are moving on :)  The challenge is to add texture to your card.  Well, I have some sparkly white felt that was cut into this fabulous new snowflake die from The Cat’s Pajamas.  I saw so many of these wonderful flakes during their recent release and just couldn’t resist it's fabulous shape :)  I also have some ribbon texture and, of course, a button and some bling :)  This card is going to my dear teaching partner who has had to answer a ka-zillion questions since I came on staff :)  I hope she likes pink because I was in a pink and white mood tonight.  Like the “Dec 25 2010?”  That’s just a plain old date stamp…$5.00!!! LOL  Hope you are having a fabulous week!!! Thanks for stopping by :)

Verve Triple Play

tripletrio2
Good morning friends!! Thanks so much for all your sweet comments about my December Curtain Call Guest Designer news yesterday :)  It is quite an honour!!  It was a very productive weekend in the studio…Santa pencils made for my class, birthday card made for a friend (see tomorrow’s post for that!), started my Christmas cards (10 made!) and finished this fun project for Verve’s Triple Play contest.  Now, the lucky winner gets to be Guest Diva in January!!! What a great prize!!! But guess what?  I can’t win :(  I was already blessed with being the 3rd Anniversary Guest Diva in August.  But I am not a fair weather Verve fan…I really do love Julee’s stamps, so I am playing to join in the fun AND get a start on a few little gifts as well – bonus!  So here’s a break down of the ensemble..
card
I wanted to use nontraditional colours for my project, so I picked the colours that make me smile {insert smile here!}.  Funny enough, they happen to be the colours of many of the ornaments at Michaels this year…maybe the “too many trips there” inspired this!!  I had coffee and reading on my mind for this gift…they go so well together AND we have a Starbucks at our Chapters Bookstore (where the DH and I met!)…so that was my springboard for the next two items…
giftcard
How adorable is this little gift card holder(tutorial here)?  I used my new PTI coffee cup die with raspberry fizz felt and this GIGANTIC heart gemstone….I would never use this big of one on a card, but it seems made for this little felt cup on the belly band :)  A sentiment from Verve’s Delightful and Delicious was the perfect touch :)  Up next is a bookmark x3!!! Hola!!! One of my triple plays became it’s own triple play!! LOL…
bookmarks
My blog buddy, Janelle, made some inspirational cards with several Verve sentiments, so I was inspired to do the same on these bookmarks.  I don’t know about you, but I often have several books on the go, especially at work, so a set of bookmarks would be really be helpful.  Okay, now here is everything in a glassine bag :)  I will eventually punch 2 little holes at the top and add some bakers twine, but I haven’t filled in the card yet ;)  Thanks so much for dropping by and spending some time with me…hugs and happy Monday!!!

Richly Blessed ~ Curtain Call Crew Guest Designer!!

richlyblessedcurtaincall

curtain call 59
Greetings friends!!! Today I have some exciting news I’ve been sitting on for over 2 months!!  Stacey over at Stacey’s Stamping Stage has asked me to be her December Guest Designer!!  I have been participating in her Curtain Call Colour Challenges since last March, discovering it through my dear blog buddy, Marisa, who was a Curtain Call Designer last Spring.  It has been so much fun playing with colour so I am thrilled to be joining Stacey and her fabulous Design Team as we welcome December and the Christmas season :)  Today’s card uses my favourite poinsettia dies and a new Verve sentiment.  I didn’t want to add another panel to the card, so I stamped directly onto the distressed dots paper…it does show up in real life, so I hope it works for you :)

Hi dear friends…well, I’m happy to report I am done my sister’s cards and they are in the mail as we speak :)  I am also happy that I was able to stamp this morning in daylight :)  Today’s sparkly card is for this week’s Viva La Verve  sketch.  It’s all about Christmas decorating this month so I knew I had to start it off right with a jumbo ornament.  Now, I have made these before with just regular cardstock…but the beauty of using dies, is that you can cut through most materials.  This cardstock is quite thick and punches don’t cut through it well.  Some sweet little jingle bells, some bling and yummy paper and I’m so happy with this one :)  Now I’m off to clean the house and do a workout before settling back into the studio to work on my Verve Project Parade.  I hope your weekend has started out right!! (mine started with a trip to Michaels!! lol).  Hugs!!

Season’s Greetings

seasonsgreetings

Good evening!! Another late night post before bed ;)  I’ve continued to be busy with my sister’s gift cards and I just have one more night of them before I mail them off on Friday.  Then I need to start my own!! LOL  Tonight’s card is for Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch this week.  I switched the top square panel for this lovely ornament.  I’m still not too sure about this paper…I love the colours in this pad, but they just don’t always seem right to me…maybe I’m trying too hard!!  Or maybe it’s just too late to be up!!  Sweet dreams and have a wonderful Thursday :)
