Feel Better Soon

Good evening!  My regular post schedule has been rearranged a bit due to our busy weekend and work week.  My 23 seven year old students are making Mother’s Day cards this week so I’ve been trying to figure out the easiest way to have them “create” without going crazy.  I’m using the good parenting skill of “limiting choices to match the age.” LOL  They are always so amazed at embossing with the Cuttlebug so that keeps behaviour in check during this unstructured time in class :)  So though I should really be ironing, I’ve snuck into the studio to make a card for PTI’s Make It Monday.  How could I resist Dawn’s video and GORGEOUS CARD?  Oh, how I adore this woman!  And mixing patterned paper is something I’ve been working on for years.  I don’t always get it “right,” but I don’t freak out anymore when I do it.  PLUS, paper companies have made it pretty risk free with beautifully coordinated collections.  I picked from my favourite paper pad right now, Cosmo Cricket’s Twenty Three.  I played around a bit with the different patterns until I found a good combination.  I decided to add stitching to really define the different papers.  Pulled out Modern Woodgrain again (surprise, surprise!) and added another one of my sweet little resin flowers from a shop on Etsy.  The sentiment panel looked a little plain so I added a little strip of ruler paper I had on my desk to fill in some of the white space.  Hope you like it…thanks for visiting!

I {heart} You, Mom…

iloveyou
Good morning!  Well, it was a busy, sunny, super fun Sunday at our Community Garage Sale.  Sold ALL of the storage units I had in the old studio and a TON of paper/embellishments and about 22 cards (not to mention the 44 I sold at work last week).  So this stamper is happy!  I loved talking to the stampers that came by.  The sign on my sister’s driveway directing them to the new house worked well!  Today’s card was one of the Mother’s Day cards sold.  A young girl bought it for her mother along with 2 other cards (she has very good taste!).  LOL  I used this week’s My Favourite Things sketch and some washi tape for the 2 banners on the left.  Kind of a “loud” card, but the important message comes through :)  Before I leave you, I took a couple of pictures of my tables at the garage sale…

I put 4 paper pads together and bagged embellishments so no one could “pick and choose” and leave lots behind.  Buy a bag!  And it worked.  Only had 4 bags left at the end of the day and NO paper.  I also had stacks of 12 x 12 paper that sold in a minute to the same woman :)

Here are the boxes I sell my cards in.  Picked them up on clearance at Michaels a few years ago.  LOVE them! They fit the A2 cards perfectly :)  Hope your weekend went well too :)  Hugs!

Blessings

Good evening!  I’m either chiming in late today or early for tomorrow with a super fun sketch from Retro Sketches this week.  I knew this sketch as soon as I saw it as it was the one I CASEd Laurie with back on colourQ with this card here.  Oh, I love those panels and the options for a sentiment.  I recently received this sweet, sweet paper from CARDS magazine (payment for cards published) and couldn’t wait to use it on some baby cards for the garage sale tomorrow.  I think my favourite is this first one with the Paper Smooches sentiment and lovely ribbon.

I’ll be up early tomorrow setting up for our Community Garage Sale.  I used to use my sister’s driveway, but now we live up here :)  Fingers crossed we get rid of our junk, uh, our treasures {wink!}.  Thanks for stopping by :)

Happy Mother’s Day

vlvmayweek2
It’s Friday!  Woohoo!  We have another Viva La Verve sketch ready to inspire you over on the Verve Forum!  Are you playing this month?  Play all month for the chance to win $100 in Verve Bucks!! Drool!  I won’t promise this is my last Mother’s Day card, but it’s pretty close :)  I’ve been using the Verve Love Deepens set a lot this month getting ready for Mother’s Day.  I’ve also added the sweet little butterfly from Chicks Rule…die cut two butterflies, stitched the middle and left the threads long.  Busy weekend coming up with our Community Garage Sale…hoping to find new homes for my old treasures :)  Have a great start to your weekend!

Happy Birthday ~ CASE Study # 89

happybirthday

It’s a new month and that means we have a lovely new and talented Muse over on CASE Study!  Give a big warm welcome to Agnieszka aka Aga from Just Made From Paper!  She’s another CAS queen so I’m going to learn LOTS this month and will get to learn some more about “keepin’ it real” simple :)  Her first card this month just screams “happy,” literally and in colour.

89 may 3

I knew I wanted to use some kind of black and white background and mimic the coloured letters.  Enter in buttons!  I loved pulling the coordinating button jars off my new button cubby.  So easy and fun and quick to put back!

BUT I also grabbed my bag of resin flowers to see if I could fit one in somehow.

What jumps out at you on this card?  Head on over to the CASE Study blog and see what the Design Team did, then join in!  See you there!

A Little Message for You

thankyou

Hello friends!  Today’s card is just oozing cuteness!  I am getting quite the little collection of My Favourite Things a la modes and think they are just too adorable!  However, I did have an issue with this image at first…DRESS CODE!  LOL  At first I thought it was another teacher image and there is no way this 35+ primary teacher would ever wear a short skirt like this! ACK!  But then I was thinking about the sentiments in the set and the “girl” holding the apple and then it dawned on me that this is a student (with a very short skirt!)  So I added some fashionable leggings to her…notice the black line just above the ankle!  Ah, crisis avoided!  I’ve mixed an a la mode set with some fun typed sentiment stamps from Just My Type and used the MFT Wednesday sketch from last week. I am going to give this to our secretary this week.  It was secretary’s day last week, but I want to show her that it doesn’t take a “day” to appreciate all she does…I like to mix it up a bit :)  Woohoo, it’s hump day!  The weekend is just around the corner!  Enjoy!

I Love You, Mom

iloveyoumom

Good morning!  I saw another opportunity for a Mother’s Day card with this week’s Waltzingmouse sketch.  The tilted panel was going to be a tag of some kind, but as I was rooting around my little supplies tray on my desk, I saw these grid bags I had purchased on Etsy a few months ago.  I love tucking a little bookmark inside these bags :)  So that’s exactly what I did!

Now I’ve used a mixture of Waltzingmouse and Verve stamps for this project.  The “I Love You” on the card comes from WMS Fancy Phrases, but the “Mom” comes from Verve’s Love Deepens!  What a match!!  I also had to trim down the Labels 5 die cut as it’s original size was too wide for the bag.  That’s all for today!  Thanks for visiting :)  Hope your day is starting out right!
