You’re So Sweet 16

 

Hello!  I’ve been creating today and had time during my morning coffee :)  Gotta love the new provincial Family Day holiday :)  Papertrey Ink is having a colour challenge today and I was so happy I had time to whip up a fun card using the first colour palette…

I pulled out my paper pads and chose papers that matched the inspiration photo.  Then I die cut them into strips and layered them altogether.  Then I took a break and while I was brushing my teeth, I came up with the idea to pair this “you’re so sweet” with the # 16.    A little play on words AND another way to use your “you’re so sweet” stamps!  Cool!  Thanks for stopping by!  Are you following the PTI release?  I think I have 2 shopping carts full already! Good afternoon!  I’ve been happily stamping in the studio today while watching some curling.  Actually, more listening than watching…as I’ve been working on some Papertrey Ink challenge cards.  This one is due by tomorrow so it’s the first one to be shared.  Nichole has given us 5 sketches to play with so I chose Sketch 4.

 

The long banner made me think of the 2012 Birthday Tags set so that’s where I started.  Then I added this very busy and very fun patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs.  Hope you’re all having a lovely day…thanks for stopping by!

Congratulations ~ Online Card Class Day 5 and The Finale!

Hi everyone!  Today is the last post for my Online Card Class.  Was it worth it?  You bet.  Not only did I learn a pile of new techniques, the tips and tricks each teacher and guest designer gave us were worth their weight in gold (not to mention the Discount we all received from my favourite online stores!)  Probably the most challenging days for me were the one layer cards and 1 Stamp, 3 ways.  Today’s card is for the first of the One Stamp, Three Ways days.  I’m using the Clearly Besotted Stamps Baby Love set.

I stamped the heart border 4 times to make a solid band across my card to ground the sweet little banner.  Ever since I got this set, I’ve been thinking of creating a banner with those sweet little baby paraphernalia.  AND because I wasn’t sure whether to make a baby girl card or a baby boy card, I made one of each…making this card sketch AND the stamp set more versatile :)

Thanks for taking this CAS journey with me.  I do feel a lot more comfortable making CAS cards which will come in handy for my DT duties as well as for publications :)  However, I’m still a frilly girly girl so I may just have to make one of those tomorrow! LOL  I’ll leave you with the Grand Finale…a picture of all my CAS cards from the class.  The only one missing is the one I made for Day 1.  It sold at work the day after I made it! CAS Online Card Class ~ Days 7 & 10

Greetings friends!  I’m back late this afternoon to show you the fruits of my stamping afternoon labours. LOL  I’ve completed all the daily challenges for the CAS Online Card Class and will share 2 right now and one tomorrow :)  This first card was for the second One Layer challenge.  I tried really hard to keep it “ONE LAYER.”  I was told, though, that adding some bling still keeps it one layer :)  So I added two sweet little heart gems to mark my house and a friend’s house :)  I used a mask to create the center circle where I stamped a city blueprint image with sahara sand ink.  Then I lifted the mask and stamped the sentiment.  Then I debossed a circle frame around my mask for a bit of dimension.  I wanted a whimsical line to my friend’s house, so I took the little heart and dotted line image from Verve’s Stronger Love set, cut the little heart off and stamped the dotted line twice, once right side up and then once upside down. 

Two little hearts completed this one layer card :)  I made sure they were tilted a bit for some more visual interest.  Here’s a close up of the debossed circle…

My next card is for the second day of the 1 stamp, 3 ways challenge.  I loved the card Jennifer made with a cut out window and rays of the sun created with heart stamps and scoring.  I thought Verve’s No Matter Set would be perfect to CASE a similar card.

After die cutting the circle and stamping the heart rays, I scored between the rays with my Scor Pal, just like Jennifer did.

Then on the inside, I curved the “no matter what” sentiment to fit around the circle.

Be My Valentine ~ Viva La Verve!

Good morning!  Yes, it’s Friday and yes, there’s a new Viva La Verve sketch over on the VLV forum!  It’s also inspiration week AND yours truly is the hostess!  I was going to go with a Valentine/Heart photo, but couldn’t resist this photo I found on Pinterest  (see original post HERE).  Hello cherry blossoms AND that fabulous door!  I mimicked this burst of pink with some Truly Madly Deeply seam binding from the  Verve Store :)

Every Love Story ~ Online Card Class Day 9

Hi again!  I’m coming to the end of my CAS Online Card Class and will definitely be using Saturday as my catch up day.  Oh how I wish the class was in the summer so I could spend some good quality time with the techniques.  I’m feeling rushed at night so I feel like I’m missing out a bit on the process.  At least I’ll have all the videos to watch at my leisure after the class is done :)  Today’s tutorials focused on adding texture.  Oh, yes!  I’m all about texture!  I do know that if something seems “too” flat, add some texture!  The video I watched showed braying paint onto embossed paper.  Since I didn’t have any paint on hand, I used white craft ink to bray onto my woodgrain embossed paper.  I love the extra layer of dimension it creates.  I broke into my new PTI set and stamped a “favoUrite” sentiment.  I know it’s not OUR way of spelling “favoUrite,” but I couldn’t resist this set :)  I know/hope all my British spelling friends forgive me (even if I haven’t quite forgiven myself).  Eek!  It’s Friday tomorrow!  Come back nice and early to see my Viva La Verve card…I’m hosting Inspiration Week!

Hello, Lovely ~ Card Class Day 8

Good morning!  Okay, I’ve skipped a few days of my online card class, knowing that I’ll be able to visit them on the weekend.  Since yesterday felt like Thursday and Tuesday felt like Monday, I feel I’m right on track! LOL  After viewing yesterday’s video for Day 8, More Inking and Stamping, I just had to try out making my own ink pad!  Wowzers!  Where have I been?  You can actually buy ink felt to make a fairly good quality ink pad OR if you don’t have these handy, you can use baby wipes!  Eureka!  I have several SU reinkers and so went straight to work creating a rainbow ink pad!  Here’s a photo!

Then I looked through my background stamps and found an old, and I’m sure retired, SU  medallion stamp.  I was a little skeptical as to whether this would work, but it did first try!  I love the batik, worn look.  Forgive me for the same sketch I seem to be falling back on…I will come up with another CAS one at some point…I was just focusing so much on that gorgeous image and didn’t want to cover it up!  Have a great day!
