Two Roads Diverged in a Wood

Good morning!!! Well, we're back from our little vacation to the big city (Vancouver, BC). We had a fabulous time, but more on that at the end of the post :) Today's card is full of the yummy goodies purchased on our trip :) New paper, new flower, new embossing folder and a new to me Verve stamp that had yet to be inked. I've always loved this sentiment and even wrote a paper on it in first year English way back when... What's funny about this is that Mercy has declared Thursday, Verve day :) LOL So this card is perfect to post there today :) I wish you could see it, but the bottom of the kraft card base is embossed with the Argyle embossing folder. I really need to find a way to have embossing photograph better.

Okay...more on our trip...here's a photo of all the luscious paper and stamps and embossing folders I picked up. I had a mission to find a corner chomper and finally did on our way out of town at a GREAT scrapbooking store in Langley, BC, called Precious Memories. Incredible selection of new product which can be tricky in Canada. I was a happy little stamper in there and couldn't resist showing my published cards to the ladies who worked there. They had a stack of the February CARDS on sale for 14.99 :)

On our second day in Vancouver, we walked all over down town and over to the Olympic cauldron waiting patiently to be relit for the Paralympics that start on Friday. It looks kind of bare without the flame, doesn't it?

Here's a fun picture Tony took of us...we laughed because we could hardly see the cauldron in the photo, but it's because I had the zoom on from the last photo.

Here's the redo of it and the "kiss" shot we always like to do...but I started laughing :) It was so good to get away and sleep in and eat treats and just hang out. That's all for today...I need to reorganize the studio a bit :) Have a lovely day....oh, and if you haven't entered yet, check out my blog candy until March 17th :)

Your New Little Bundle

Good morning everyone!!! Today's card is just for fun!!! No sketch, no challenge...just some fun playing with some new stamps, pins, ribbon and buttons. I got the new Stampin' Up! set, Little Angel, and am so glad I did!! It stamps like a dream!! Very crisp images. I arranged all 4 stamps down on my work space, then picked them up with my acrylic block (I got the clear mount set). I stamped the background in Raspberry Fizz, then cut it down and scalloped the bottom. It makes a very sweet script-like paper :) The pins were a little gift from Laural...thanks!! Some new PTI paper, buttons and ribbon and I was a happy camper making this one...so adorable...anyone having a baby? LOL I think I'll try to make a boy one now :) If you haven't seen it already, check out my blog candy...it goes until St. Patty's Day :) Have a lovely day :)

A Very Loosely Interpreted Mojo Sketch

Good afternoon!! I'm supposed to be writing my last reports, but this Mojo Monday sketch has been bugging me all week....I was going to leave it, but really wanted to make a St. Patrick's day card :) It's contest week too, but I think I've used up my Verve luck for awhile!! LOL Even with a sparkly St. Patty's card!! LOL Those little rectangles really threw me, so I changed them to fit my card. I love the prisma glitter on the shamrock :) Okay....I'm out of here...reports, packing and posting blog candy for tomorrow :) Have a great day :)

Thanks!! Viva La Verve Week 2

Great (not good!) Friday morning to everyone...it's my first official post as Guest Sample Designer for the Viva La Verve March challenges :) It's very fun to get the sketches early before everyone else :) The photos this week were once again amazing!! It was hard to choose so I went with my first gut reaction. The black and white made me think of this patterened paper and the "splashback" made me think of a splash of green ribbon. We call it a backsplash where I come from...what do you call it? The silver pearls mimic the silver hardware and faucet. This was so fun to create even if it's a little "out" there!! LOL I just loved making that gorgeous flower from Verve's Love's Flower set :) Verve is having their March release tonight and all day there will be challenges on their blog...check it out and then head over to the Viva La Verve forum and join us this month...you could be a lucky winner like me!! Yahoooooo!!! Have a wonderful day :)

Thanks For All You Do

Good morning!! Before I get onto today's card, I want to thank you all for your sweet and encouraging comments about my first card publications :) Okay...today's card is not even close to the card that's been mulling around in my brain all week. And that's a good thing!! LOL It didn't translate very well into paper and ink so I scratched it...within 30 minutes even and this card started to form on my desk. I LOVE it!! It feels like me :) It took me awhile to warm up to this colour palette...I love all the colours separately or a few together...but all four? Looking at the card, though, they all work. This is for the new Embellish challenge sponsored by Verve Stamps (and you know how I feel about Verve!! LOL). To honour one of my favourite stamp companies, I chose a lovely sentiment from a recent release. It fit perfectly onto the lines of the library card (downloaded from the talented Heather Nichols blog). I was inspired by this card so chose some pink note paper and the binding edge border punch. You can't have a library card without a library clip!! LOL I was so excited to use one of these again...they are the cutest!! The crocheted flowers were inspired by that super sweet hat in the photo below :) Funny tidbit: The sheet of pink notepaper I used for this card had some creases in it so I cut around the creases only to add them back in after I made the card!!! I like the bit of visual texture it adds :) Have a wonderful day...one more until our Spring Break!!! And the Verve release {double} :)

I'm a "Two-hit" Wonder

Good morning friends!! Well, I thought it was time to reveal my two seconds of publishing fame. I don't know what got into me last summer, but I submitted some cards for the first time and 2 were chosen...and that's all. Oh, I will have a couple of cards in the upcoming Embellish on-line magazine, but nothing more has come of me trying to play with the "Big Girls." It's not something that I am really focussed on or am feverishly persuing...it was just something I thought would be neat...to see my name and a card in print. If I make something unique and it fits the category, I will submit, but that's not my purpose in card making. It is my hobby...a passionate one, but a hobby nontheless. So to see my name beside Company Designers and other such talents is satisfying in itself. These are my 2 cards that were in the February CARDS magazine...did you see it? If so, lucky you, because no one in my town carries this magazine consistently and I have not even received my subscription copy yet!! I got the March one on Friday, but no February or even January yet!! You can imagine my phone call to Customer Service 2 days ago. You'd think I live in a third world country with no regular postal service...I was so hoping to announce a Blog Candy celebration of my publications, but I wanted to include a copy of the magazine. So it will have to wait...ugh!!!!!!!! Anyways, I hope you have a great day and be on the lookout for some candy soon :)

Thank You for Being in My Life

Good morning!! Have you all recovered from the Olympics? Is it just me or does it feel like they've been on for a month? Today's card is for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I made it an A2 sized card because it will probably be one of the cards sold at my sister's wine store and I put them in clear A2 envelopes. I kept to the sketch, though, so I'm only stretching it a bit :) I'm using my new Technique Tuesday stamp set that finally arrived via Bellevue, via Vancouver. I used the Gift Certificate I got for my Kristina Werner's colour challenge win awhile back. I also just received my hibiscus burst topnotch twill ribbon...gorgeous!! Is that not the most delicious pink? The top of the card looked a little too bare so I embossed it with the swiss dots folder to add some texture. I hope you are having a great start to your week.
