Precious Loving Memories

Good morning!!  Today's card is for the Viva La Verve weekly sketch.  We are looking at Living Rooms this month and it's always so hard to choose one inspiration photo to use.  However, I really loved the bold colours of this picture and couldn't resist using them.

Red, rust, golden yellow, green, grey, black and cream.  Oh, wow!! I also wanted to use my new PTI blooms dies and stamp set.  The dies cut like buttah!!  Right through felt, no problem-o.  I'm really going to have fun with this set...and watch for more vellum flowers to come in the near future :)  The lamp base looked like a row of silver pearls to me so I added some to the sentiment for good measure :)  The rust cardbase is embossed with Diamonds in the Rough embossing folder.  If you click on the photo, it should get bigger and you'll be able to see this detail.  Have a wonderful morning....I'll be watching the Canadian Men's curling team play Norway for the World title :)  Wish us luck :)

As High as I Can Reach ~ Guest Designer

Good morning!! Welcome to the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!! I am one of the lucky ladies who gets to play along with Sankari and Brooke this morning :)  I just love the movie this week...Up!   I never saw it in the theatre, but my bonus son (my term for stepson :)) had a copy so we borrowed it last Saturday. Oh, how we loved it!!  It was the first animated film to make me cry and my husband laugh the deepest and most heartfelt laugh I have ever heard!! (not at the same time, though! LOL)  It is such an endearing movie about love, friendship, honour, loyalty, and moving on.  It really is a must see.  You can't go wrong with a Pixar movie either...they are brilliant!!  The challenge was to use balloons.  This was a challenge as I have no balloon stamps!!! So I traced and paper pieced one together and added another stamp set to an ongoing wish list ;)  I also had this sweet sun on my desk from a few weeks ago so I thought I'd create a sunny day scene with the balloon taking off.  This Verve sentiment came to me right away.  I couldn't think of a more perfect one for the movie :)  I hope you can join us this week and make your own balloon card!!  Thanks for visiting...have a great Saturday :)

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!! Here's a new stamp set I just got from PTI!!  It's not brand, brand new...I believe it was released last December...but I finally warmed up to it :)  I love how big the font is so that it can be the main image on the front of a card.  Plus there are so many different sentiments to choose from.  Today's card is for the new Card Positioning Systems sketch.  I really like the simplicity of this sketch...dress it up or dress it down.  I went for the latter...it had more going on in my head, but this is what came out!! LOL  I added a bit of bling to try and kick it up a little :)  And there's more of the PTI Pretty Pastels paper :) {Yes, Aimes, you MUST get it!}   I could say this is for my dear friend, Troylana's birthday...which is today...but it's not...she has another one en route to her house today :)  (Happy B-day Troy!!).  I hope everyone has a wonderful day...tomorrow is TGIF!!!

Happily Ever After

Good morning, sweet friends :)  It's Wednesday already!! Woohoo!!  What better way to celebrate than with a card using some of my favourite things for Mojo Monday!!  It's contest week as well, so play along and you may win a Verve set of your own :)  I am just loving my Pretty Pastel paper from PTI...every sheet in this pack is gorgeous!!  I'll try not to hoard it as there is always beautiful paper coming out from everywhere....so use it up!  I'm also using one of my favourite wedding sets from Cloud 9, a new nestabilities Label (#11), and some more vellum flowers using a Verve Love's Flower stamp.

I was a little undecided about the vellum flowers, so I took a picture with and one without...what do you think?  I'm leaning more towards "with" just because I love that flower :)  Have a fabulous day :)

Happy Mother's Day

Good afternoon!  Today has been a quiet day so I had the chance to just play a bit in the studio :)  I visited the A Creative Mint site to find some colour inspiration and was not disappointed.  I just love the vignettes of colour she puts together.  I chose a blue, red, pink, cream and kraft colour palette and was inspired by the tags and birds.  I figured I'd better start on my Mother's Day card stash (to sell later).  I just love those little blue birds.  I hope you are all finding some time to do what you love with whom you love :)  Happy early Easter :)

Bring Your Own Sunshine!!

Good morning!!! I wasn't sure I'd have a card for this morning...I thought this one would take me a few days to figure out...but surprisingly enough it turned out the way it looked in my head :)  Verve is having another Project Parade this month. The theme is Fun with Flowers!!  Yay, Spring!!  And yay, Verve flower stamps!!  Ever since seeing this beauty from Laurie, I've wanted to make these vellum flowers.  Everything went well except that when you emboss on vellum, it is very delicate and chips like a bad manicure (if you've ever done this, you KWIM!!)  I plan to use white craft ink next time instead of Versamark.  Then at least if it chips, it will show white underneath ;)  (just like a chip on a white vehicle).  I was thinking of making this a wedding card, but really wanted to ink up this verse from Feel the Sun

I layered the large blossom from Love's Flower, paper pieced the leaves, and adhered everything with dimensionals.  Pearls seemed like the perfect centers.  I really like the cream ribbon on white...it almost looks like a light buttercream.  I also got to use my new Nestabilities Labels 12 :)  Julee always has great giveaways during a Parade...one winner out of the entries and one winner for commenting on the Diva posts throughout the parade.  I hope you can join in the fun...it goes until April 7th.  Have a lovely Thursday :)  My extra long weekend starts at 3:00 :)
