Good Things are Worth the Wait

Well, it's back to work today...so not only are "good things worth the wait," they also "must come to an end." I can't believe I have a card for the new Embellish challenge. I thought the last colours were doozies...but these are crazy...but like a moth to a flame, I'm attracted to the challenge. I was leafing through a scrapbook magazine for inspiration and saw similar colours on several layouts. That's how I got the polka dotted panel on kraft idea. The extra challenge was to use fabric, so I went searching in the bag of scraps my quilting sister gave me and found some great blue cotton. The cream layer is canvas stamped with a blue flourish. The leaves are felt and stitched with linen thread to give them a bit of texture...they seemed pretty plain by themselves. Plus the thread is the colour of kraft :) I love this sentiment...it's like Julee (from Verve) was thinking of me when she designed it. It's very close to the saying we had on our wedding announcement..."the best things in life are worth the wait."

The actual color of St. Patrick is blue. Green became associated with St. Patrick's Day during the 19th century. Green, in Irish legends, was worn by fairies and immortals, and also by people to encourage their crops to grow.

Luck o' the Irish

Good morning everyone!!! It's the official last day of Spring Break...so today is bittersweet...my dh is taking me out for breakfast before mass, then we're off to Costco :) I have 2 cards for you today, using the Mojo Monday sketch. I really wanted to use some more of my new goodies from our road trip this week. I found the sweetest Wedding stamp set from Cloud 9 (made by Fiskars if you can believe it!). They are clear stamps and I asked the woman who worked in the store if they stamped well...as you know, there are varying qualities of clear stamps. She said they stamped beautifully and she was correct :) The patterned paper on the tilted panel is some fun wedding paper. It says "Tying the Knot" on this side and on the other side it says, "Save the Date." How versatile!! The glitter hearts are punched from a Cuttlebug die with glitter cardstock and "tied into a knot" with linen thread :) But I couldn't leave this sketch alone...I wondered what it would look like as a St. Patrick's Day card...here is the answer...

Did I go GIGA on that shamrock, or what? LOL LOL!! I couldn't resist!! One little sweet tidbit about this button I'm using is that it's from my Irish Grandfather's button collection...he sold buttons and my mom gave me a huge bag of all his boxes years ago :) I'm finding through Blog land that some people like St. Patrick's Day and some are neutral...they don't really celebrate it or think about it much. EEEKKK!!!! So I thought, since it's my favourite day of the whole entire year, I should share a little bit about this fantastic day :) I hope you don't mind...for the next few days I hope to share a little fact about St. Patrick's Day...

St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17 because that is the feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is believed that he died on March 17 in the year 461 AD. It is also a worldwide celebration of Irish culture and history. St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland, and a provincial holiday in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

May Your Life Be Like a Wildflower...

AHHHHHH!!! My Verve win finally arrived!!! I was so hoping it would as it's the last day of Spring Break and my day has been pretty much devoted to studio time :) I already posted today, but I'm so excited about my new stamps {insert huge smile here!}. With no familiar challenges up until this weekend, I thought I'd play with a new one. My blog buddy, Marisa, is on the design team for the Curtain Call Colour Challenge. Then I went over to the Card Positioning Systems blog and surfed through some old sketches. Julee's gorgeous flower is layered with real red and ruby red. And I had to try out my new corner chomper :) It's great!! I chomped the corners after the card was made...no problem with the buttons in the corner. New stamps + new paper + new toys = studio bliss. You're So Fabulous

Good morning, lovely friends :) Ah, the last weekday of my Spring Break. It's been so fun...traveling, shopping, card making...just fabulous :) Today's card is for the Viva La Verve sketch challenge. I was so tempted to go shabby chic again with some of the new pastel paper I purchased this week, but my new Verve stamps didn't come and I really wanted to use them with the new paper. {insert pout here}. A watched package never comes. So I flipped through some old patterned paper and was drawn to the blue and kraft colours, very similar to the inspiration photo. The blossom is made of vellum and the leaves are crimped, crumpled and inked a bit with chocolate chip :) YUM!! Okay...I'm off to do my taxes today...it's not that big of a job so I should be able to have some more fun in the studio later :) Have a wonderful day and check out the Viva La Verve forum and join us for the chance to win some delicious Verve :)

Two Roads Diverged in a Wood

Good morning!!! Well, we're back from our little vacation to the big city (Vancouver, BC). We had a fabulous time, but more on that at the end of the post :) Today's card is full of the yummy goodies purchased on our trip :) New paper, new flower, new embossing folder and a new to me Verve stamp that had yet to be inked. I've always loved this sentiment and even wrote a paper on it in first year English way back when... What's funny about this is that Mercy has declared Thursday, Verve day :) LOL So this card is perfect to post there today :) I wish you could see it, but the bottom of the kraft card base is embossed with the Argyle embossing folder. I really need to find a way to have embossing photograph better.

Okay...more on our trip...here's a photo of all the luscious paper and stamps and embossing folders I picked up. I had a mission to find a corner chomper and finally did on our way out of town at a GREAT scrapbooking store in Langley, BC, called Precious Memories. Incredible selection of new product which can be tricky in Canada. I was a happy little stamper in there and couldn't resist showing my published cards to the ladies who worked there. They had a stack of the February CARDS on sale for 14.99 :)

On our second day in Vancouver, we walked all over down town and over to the Olympic cauldron waiting patiently to be relit for the Paralympics that start on Friday. It looks kind of bare without the flame, doesn't it?

Here's a fun picture Tony took of us...we laughed because we could hardly see the cauldron in the photo, but it's because I had the zoom on from the last photo.

Here's the redo of it and the "kiss" shot we always like to do...but I started laughing :) It was so good to get away and sleep in and eat treats and just hang out. Your New Little Bundle

Good morning everyone!!! Today's card is just for fun!!! No sketch, no challenge...just some fun playing with some new stamps, pins, ribbon and buttons. I got the new Stampin' Up! set, Little Angel, and am so glad I did!! It stamps like a dream!! Very crisp images. I arranged all 4 stamps down on my work space, then picked them up with my acrylic block (I got the clear mount set). I stamped the background in Raspberry Fizz, then cut it down and scalloped the bottom. It makes a very sweet script-like paper :) The pins were a little gift from Laural...thanks!! Some new PTI paper, buttons and ribbon and I was a happy camper making this one...so adorable...anyone having a baby? A Very Loosely Interpreted Mojo Sketch

Good afternoon!! I'm supposed to be writing my last reports, but this Mojo Monday sketch has been bugging me all week....I was going to leave it, but really wanted to make a St. Patrick's day card :) It's contest week too, but I think I've used up my Verve luck for awhile!! LOL Even with a sparkly St. Patty's card!! LOL Those little rectangles really threw me, so I changed them to fit my card.
