SCROLL DOWN FOR NEW POSTS.
THIS POST WILL REMAIN AT THE TOP UNTIL
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17TH....YES, ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!

Good morning, my lovely friends!!! Well, my magazine came so here is my first official BLOG CANDY!!! In honour of my two seconds of publishing fame, I would like to offer up some fun (I hope) blog candy. My disclaimer is that I've been purchasing and saving items for this candy since last December thinking I could post it at the beginning of February...before the Olympics and Valentines Day. As some of you know, I did not get my magazine in a timely manner so the blog candy is a little behind the times...but I hope you'll still enjoy winning it :) Here's what we have....

* Febrary 2010 CARDS magazine featuring 2 of my first ever published cards :)
* Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Traffic Jam
* Stampin' Up! clear mounted Sweetheart stamp set
* Martha Stewart Doily Hearts border punch (new this year)
* 3 packages of my favourite bling
* 1 very full bag of assorted Papertrey Ink vintage buttons
* 2 spools of my favourite satin ribbon in aqua and light pink
* 1 bag of assorted crocheted and prima flowers
* 1 pair of the official red Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic mittens (size: adult s-m)
* also adding various 6x6 patterned paper...an assortment of my favs :)
Okay!! The details....

I like what my blog pal, Amy, said...you don't have to jump through a whole bunch of hoops to win...but it would be nice if....

*you'd spread the word about my blog candy...(optional)
*you'd become a follower to keep posted about who wins...(optional)

*To win, leave a comment on this post and tell me something!!! LOL Tell me a fun St. Patrick's Day story to make me smile on my birthday, or tell me what you've seen on my blog that you like, or leave me a tip for organizing or making cards, or if you've ever been to Beautiful British Columbia, your take on the 2010 Winter Olympics....anything!!!! I'd love to hear from you :) Because I've got fabulous blog friends all over the world, this contest is open to everyone!!! I know what it's like to "not" be included because of location so I'll mail this anywhere you are!!!

*The winner will be selected by a random number draw after I get home from my birthday dinner!! LOL That will be around 7:30 pm (PST) on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 :) I will post the winner on Thursday, March 18th. The winner will then have 5 days to contact me (moeplut@shaw.ca) with their name and mailing address, otherwise I'll pick another winner.

Good luck!!! I hope I haven't forgotten anything...I hope it's all clear, being my first time and all :) Looking forward to hearing from you!!!

Wow, girl, you have gone to town on this one!! Great goodies!!

A St. Patrick's day story...well, I do have a very good friend who is Irish and she had a St. Paddy's day party. We had to wear green and while at the party she had a bright orange wig we had to wear along with some shamrock shaped shades to get our picture taken in. Needless to say we were all roaring with laughter as we watched everyone don the apparel and pose for the picture. If I find the picture I'll send it to you :D

Maureen,
You are so generous! Thank you, thank you! I love so many things about your blog and get constant inspiration from it!

My funny St. Patrick's Day story revolves around my husband (Patrick :)) and I having a party the first or second year we were married (pre-four little boys)...green beer and some very green cupcakes. He and my sister-in-law got into a cupcake icing fight...needless to say at the end they were both covered pretty well in icing and I was thankful for hardwood floors as everything cleaned up easily!!

Thank you again and happy birthday a few days early!

Yahooo! How fun to FINALLY get your magazine! (I had to wait 4 months to get my November issue-ugh) Your candy looks amazing, you and I have such similar taste in goodies!!

I don't have a St. Patty's day story as I am not Irish and it has never been a prominent day in my house. But, I follow you and now it is having a whole new meaning for me!!

I could pass on an organization tip of mine, cause you DON'T need any tips for making cards -LOL! I cut up all my 12x12 pattern paper immediately into 6x6 pieces and store them on my craft desk. Otherwise, they are stored farther away and I forget to use them. Cut 'em up and use 'em I say!!

Congrats on your publication! Hugs, michelle

Congrats on being published and that magazine is wonderful! I love your cards and I wish I had a St. Patrick's Day story - funny or otherwise - but I don't, sorry. I should since I went to a Catholic school filled with Irish priests and nuns, but all I remember is singing When Irish Eyes are Smiling every year. I love that song!

Debi said...

Love that magazine --- it oozes quality with your cards in it!! I must subscribe. Regarding your birthday & St. Patty's Day ... I always remember the fun and celebration on that day back from when you worked at BEES and that fiesty 'lil Leprechaun was hiding somewhere in your classroom - the kids were stoked!!! Also, remember the handsome one on staff ... !!! ... and the fun we had with his "lucky charms" !!! I think we had too much fun.

Congrats on being published! It must be such an amazing feeling to know your work is in such a popular magazine!

Love Cards Magazine! Congrats! My St Patty's Day story is this - when we were living in Seattle area, we were in an Irish bar on St Patty's Day minding our own business and having a "cool one" while sitting at the bar. We noticed a food bar set up so we helped ourselves to some food. Then we were given tee shirts (we thought to advertise the bar) but as the night went on and we were not charged for any of the food or our drinks (!!) we discovered we'd unknowingly crashed a private party!! We just joined along with the festivities and had a great time!! We still laugh about this one!!

Hi Maureen! Congrats on your first published cards! How exciting - glad you finally received the magasine too :)
Don't really have a funny St. Patty's Day story but a great memory - when I was in veterinary school, we would all go to the local pub, have Guinness (the bar tenders would "draw" a clover in the foam with the beer)... a bit too much Guinness, dance and sing along with the live band to songs like "Barrett's privateers". So much fun!
Thanks so much for the chance to win! A huge congrats again - your blog is wonderful, your work is gorgeous and is such a huge inspiration - to have your work published is SO deserved :)

Tell you anything, well now Once upon a time... Just kidding. You share your birthday with my brother. I love the holiday because I always got cake cause it was his birthday. I didn't like the wearing green part. I look awful in green.
You are very generous and I hope my brothers birthday brings me luck.

Puddle Jumpers Studio said...

Ha ha, how funny is that! I am the 17th and well now the 18th person to comment. Now that is cool

Okay after all that I forgot to wish you a very happy birthday. I hope you get to sleep under a rainbow and catch a pot of gold.

How generous of you, Maureen! I recently discovered your blog and read every post! I'm not sure I have a St. Patrick's Day story for you, but I will say that I found out when I moved to here to Buffalo, NY that no one here has heard of pinching for not wearing green on St. Patrick's day! I'm from Oklahoma, and have lived in Utah & Tennessee and all growing up the only significance to St. Patrick's Day was to wear green. If you didn't have some kind of green on you somewhere, you could get pinched! Especially in school, you know. Then I moved here, where I find the day is much more celebrated (a lot of Catholic believers). Virtually no one has heard of pinching. So I'm safe to not wear green!! Have a great birthday!

Great blog candy Maureen!
Well I don't really have a St. Patrick's Day story, but my daughter will be trying out for Cheerleader for the first time in school this year! She has looked forward to this her whole life (she's only 11, almost 12), but she is SO excited! :)

Congratulations on your publishing success!! AND the big Viva la Verve winner this month too -- Happy Birthday to YOU!! Awesome!

I don't have any great St. Patrick's Day stories to share, sadly... I did put up some shamrock window clings with my 4 year old son the other day (but only on the top windows so my 18 month old wouldn't destroy our decorations...). :) Does that count?!?

Thanks for the chance at a super fun giveaway! Those mittens ROCK!

Hi Maureen! I'm a follower and do love your blog. Here's a funny St. Pat's story. I have had only one blind date in my life and it was on St. Patrick's Day in 1966. My BFF at the time asked me to meet her and another :friend" after work. When I got there, I was surprised to find out that I had been "fixed up" with a guy she worked with. So, after an evening of drinking green beer and a few very off-tune sing-alongs, I was really not having much fun and the guy I was "with" was very goofy...kinda cute, but goofy! Well, that evening ended on a bit of a sour note and the next day, my friend begged me to double with her, her guy and "that" guy. I said no but she finally wore me down. To make the rest of the story short, "that" guy really turned out to be the best thing that ever walked into my life and we were married in 1968! He's still the best thing in my life and the lesson is...give a frog a chance!

Wooowoo! Look at you, generoso! =)
Hmmmm...tell you something. How about that you're fabulously talented, amazingly kind and wonderfully generous?! Too much butt kissing? Well then, how about that I've only been to BC twice and the first time was when I was 17 because my mom wanted to be the first to fly with me. We flew to Victoria for a weekend with my sister and boyfriend at the time so that she'd get to fly with us before I left for a 10 day Italy-Greece tour.
And after the second trip to BC, where my husband I enjoyed some fabulous Kelowna weather & wine, we definitely plan on heading back. In fact, I've asked to go there for my 30th next year to the wine festival!
Congrats again on all of your success - I'm absolutely sure there's much more coming your way!

Another avid fan of your blog here. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas and inspiration with us, and congrats on your publishing success too. No St Patricks Day story from me, but we did SOOOO enjoy the Olympics, sitting in sweltering heat down here in a New Zealand summer. DH is Canadian and we lived in Montreal for 10 years. Well done Canadian athletes!

Congrats again on your publishing, Maureen! So neat!

I don't really have any fun St. Patrick's Day stories, but I do enjoy doing the crafts with my kiddos as school. When I taught second grade, we would write limericks each year. I dreaded them, lol. But they always turned out so cute. The students would write them on a shamrock and cut out a leprechaun head and hands and glue them to the top, so he's peaking over. They always looked so great on the wall.

Thank you for your continuous inspiration and friendship! I love dropping by here each day to see what little treat awaits us all. :)

Congratulations on being published - what a great thrill for you.
We don't actually celebrate St Pat's Day here, but I have been known to wear green. So I apologise for not having a story.
Thanks for the chance to win your great candy, I will become a follower now.

I would love to tell you a sweet story about St Patty's Day.....but for me its all about the drinkers. I lived and worked in a very popular bar in downtown Chicago. It was the craziest day of the year! People lined up around the building to get in. My favorite part was a regular customer who always dressed up as a leprechaun and handed out $2 bills! Thanks for the chance at the great goodies and Congrats on getting your cards published! Kristin

I love your blog! I found it when I was browsing one afternoon and added it to my list to check for awesome ideas! You're great! Happy Birthday!
I think my best St. Patrick's Day story is: One year, I dyed all the breakfast food green for my kids. My older two liked it but the youngest wouldn't touch the green scrambled eggs. She thought they looked like boogers... I don't dye the eggs anymore!! Hee hee!
Hope I win!!! I never win these things!! But I try and try and try!

Congratulations on being published! I first fell in love with your work through the Viva la Verve sketch challenges. After that I started to check out your blog. I don't have a St. Patrick's Day story, but I have been to Ireland and would love to go back some day. Keep up the great designs!!

Gotta love those Vancouver Mitts!! Here's hoping a Canadian (like moi) wins all that awesome cand {crossing my fingers}.
Any way, my most cherished St. Patty's day was watching the birth of my God-daughter (niece) 10 years ago. My sister asked me to be one of her labour coaches--it was the most miraculous experience (up until I had my own two kids of course). I can't believe Brooke will be turning 10 next week. She's having a St. Patty's themed party of course. It's Spring break for us this coming week--so I'm taking her out to do something special! Of course--I've made her birthday card too!
Happy St. Patty's Day Birthday Maureen!

OMG! What a hoard of stash you're planning to share - you're a super generous crafter! How sweet to include those mittens, I love 'em!
Well I've spread the word so I'm throwing my hat into the ring!
Chris' family are Irish so I get a little involved with St Paddy's but I can't drink like 'em LOL! Oh and Chris' Granny likes me because I've red hair so that automatically makes me Irish (hmmm...I guess she hasn't noticed it's a Scottish trait too LOL!)
Oooh and for our next holiday we're planning to visit Vancouver! We have a special love affair with all things Canadian ;D
Love,
Aimes

Thank you so much for this fab opportunity to win such a great giveaway! Here's my tip for making cards (which I do all the time!) DIMENSION. A card never looks more horrible than when it is all flat (sorry! but I haven't looked at any of your cards yet, so I can't pass judgment. I'm talking about MY own cards that look horrible when they're flat) ... so use dimension dimension dimension. Usually I put foam dots under my paper piecing, and wow, they pop then. One more little tip, PEARLS are so fab on cards. people just go OOOOOOOOOOOO over pearls, especially if they are tastefully placed. ok, girl, gotta run. Love your site and will return to see if I can win!

Ok, I have a funny story that is sort of Olympic releated! I have a co-worker that resembles Apolo Ohno (for those not Olympic crazy or in the US like me, he is a short track skater for the US). I have always thought he resembled Apolo in looks AND personality but thought he would think I am weird (mainly becasue I am!) so I never said anything. So he was at a medical facility to work on something (that's what we do: sell and service medical eqpt) a nurse pulled him into a room with five other women and made him put on a bandana and take pictures with them as "Apolo Ohno"! Sooo funny. He called to tell me about it and I had to confess that I had always thought he looked like Apolo as well. :) The nurse even forwarded the pics to me so I can share them with the rest of my office!

Hellooo... I am a new follower... I seem to have blog hopped here, there and everywhere today looking for people's Spring cards as I need inspiration for one lol...

*waves from the UK*

I don't have a St Pat's Day story but a weird Irish-connected one lol... we always used to go to this Irish bar called Molly Malone's on a Friday and when you ordered Guinness they used to somehow pipe a shamrock on the top of the foam... we used to think it was nifty..but the 'proper' Irish people... thought it was tacky and refused lol... well it made us laugh anyway- I'll get my coat ;)
